Welsh evolved from Common Brittonic, the Celtic language spoken by the ancient Celtic Britons. Classified as Insular Celtic, the British language probably arrived in Britain during the Bronze Age or Iron Age and was probably spoken throughout the island south of the Firth of Forth.[21] During the Early Middle Ages the British language began to fragment due to increased dialect differentiation, thus evolving into Welsh and the other Brittonic languages. It is not clear when Welsh became distinct

The development of Welsh was hastened by default by the invading Germanic Anglo-Saxons.

Welsh town with no Welsh around. That's why you must preserve your identity.

I still don't understand why, is it so hard to preserve your culture and way of life? I live in Buenos Aires probably the most diverse and mixed city (I'm just mixed with Spaniards) and I still preserve my Italian identity with no problems, don't know why the Welsh lost their colonies

That is a common misconception. They do preserve their traditions, but are mostly indoors and in some places in town (schools, churches, festivities). Yet, it is inevitable that they would mix up with the other argentineans, and some of them passes their tradition to the newly mixed-welsh argentineans. Moreover, There are even some families that might not be welsh at all and are learning the language to keep the roots of the place. Do not take things so lightly

Its a welsh town in Argentina, not in an independent welsh country or inside Wales itself. The state began to argentinize the region as it was part of our country. Of course, when that happened was around the late 1800's, and since then the common argentinian was an european descendant. However as time went by, the white argentinians became eclypsed by immigrants from northern provinces and foreign latin american countries to the state we are today, not only the welsh are a minority in the welsh region of Argentina, the white argentinians are becoming a minority in our own country. I bet most of the people you see in this video are somehow descendants from the waves of immigrants that swarmed the Patagonia in the last 40/50 years.

Los galeses se terminaron mezclando con otras poblaciones del pais, actualmente quedan muy pocos, pero es una realidad que zonas de Chubut muchas de las personas tiene ancestros galeses
