WeMos mini D1 trying to get a 16x2 lcd running. 

I have managed to get it to display with a sketch so I know it can and will display from the WeMos D1 but not sure where to go with my sketch to make it play nice with the rest of the code in a different sketch/project. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
