I just bought and assembled the WEN Table for my new planer. For the money, I can’t imagine a better built table for a small shop. It does take take some assembly time but is well worth it. I’ll buy another of these table for my miter saw.

Had some time now to use the planer & stand. I couldn’t be happier. I’ve got a small garage shop, CNC , table saw etc. The planer work ex@Carly as I had hoped. My only minor gripe is the dust and chip collection could be better on the front side. Heed their advice about using gloves when cleaning the cutter head. The blades are very sharp, I have a new box of band aids in the shop now.

Good demonstration. I already have a planer but was watching to see the stand. Looks like a nice stand and the extension rollers look like they would be helpful. Thanks for doing this. Great job. 👍🏼

Good review, not surprised you are pleased. WEN makes good products. I have their drill press, bandsaw, belt sander, rolling base, forster bits, F clamps....all work great !! A planer is likely my next purchase from WEN.

Thanks so much for reviewing these. I have a Wen hand planer that I love, and I just got the miter stand. The planer is next!

Hey thanks so much for the video. I am really contemplating a more expensive one, but your video may convince me to keep the extra $150 in my pocket. I like your non technical down to earth approach. Your use of the planer will be similar to mine. I am not going to be making furniture every day so I think this unit will just do fine for me.

I had the same problem. I enjoy good tools "mostly Dewalt" and I just couldn't get myself to spend $500 on just a Planer. This works great for the few times that I do use it. Hope you get what you want! Thanks for watching!

Nice review, I think you convinced me to go for the WEN too! As someone mentioned, use your table saw as a jointer using a straight edge sled to run it against your fence as a reference and then flip it over and run the other side through. Steve Ramsey has a video on it, which has served me well.

I noticed the roller on the outfeed pushed the board up a bit while there was still board under the blade, this may account for some of the snipe. Thanks for the video, I’m about to purchase this unit too, if this is the 3 blade unit.
@littleaboutalot7478
@littleaboutalot7478 4 года назад
That's correct. It will cause some extra snipe. I have done some adjusting to find a sweeter spot. This is the 3 blade model.

Great review, thank you! On the stand, what is the distance between the upright corner supports? And what is the distance between the bottom shelf and the top shelf? Just wondering what I can fit between there to store on the lower shelf. I've looked everywhere for that info, I'm surprised they don't put that in the specs.
@AnthonyWatkins-f9x

Part of your sniping problem was your in-feed and out-feed rollers not being adjusted to the out-feed and in-feed table on your planer.

Thanks for a good review - I was looking at the WEN stand vs. building one for a different planer (Grizzly) - and couldn't find any video showing the stand. Looks like it worked fine and I like the rollers. How did it hold up during these last 3 years? Thanks again!

Your comment made me realize how old this video is. I was specifically looking for reviews on the stand and this is the only one I could find. It's weird it's been around for this long and It's hard to find reviews for it. It seems like the perfect fit for a small shop when it comes to planers and miter saws. I was considering buying two of them.

How well do the roller bars on the stand maintain their height adjustment when you pull them out? Do they droop the farther you pull them out and need to be readjusted?
@littleaboutalot7478
@littleaboutalot7478 3 года назад
There will be some adjustment depending of the weight of the material you put on the bars. They, however, are pretty sturdy!. Thanks for watching.

Hello great video!! I have a question about the stand. I would like to put the planner on the bottom shelf and my miter saw on the top self. Would the planer fit on the bottom shelf?
@littleaboutalot7478

I don’t believe that you could fit the planer on the bottom shelf. It is to tall and wide. Thanks for watching!

What is the shortest length board you’d feel safe running thru there? Say sections of a 1”x6”. I *think* the manual states 12.5” for the record, but that does seem quite generous. Using as a planer not a joiner. Thanks!
@littleaboutalot7478
@littleaboutalot7478 3 года назад
You would need a push board with pieces only 6" long. 12" is about what you would need to be "safe" without needing a feed board or getting your hands close to the blades.
@bmbell1919
@bmbell1919 3 года назад
@@littleaboutalot7478 Thank you I was hoping that would be the range. I’d like to run some scrap wood thru and some pierces are hovering in that 6”-12” ballpark.

What type of blades does this one have? I just ran across one on the web, that states it has spiral type blades..just wondering.

how is it holding up so far? have you tried 12" boards?
@littleaboutalot7478
@littleaboutalot7478 3 года назад
I haven't tried 12" boards yet. I have put 2- (2x6) boards through at the same time. As long as you aren't taking a bunch of material off at one time it does fine. There is some snipe depending on how you insert the wood in the planer but you can work with it and figure it out to make less of a snipe. Thanks for watching!

Nice review but just a pet peeve of mine. It looks like you are not looking at the camera and that just drives me nuts for some reason. Either look into the camera or look totally somewhere else instead of just off the side. I know, quit complaining. Other than that I enjoyed the review.

Enjoy. As a precaution, boards should not be planed vertically. Now you need a jointer. I own the Wen planer and jointer and both perform great.

@@littleaboutalot7478 Your table saw is your jointer. I bought the Dewalt 734 planer. Its was worth the $150 extra to me. I do a lot of planning so I bit the bullet, also had a $50.00 gift card so I only paid $400.00 for it. The lock down head really eliminates the snipe completely. The Wen is a good buy and a good planner. Nice buy
