WEN Thickness Planer Somebody broke WEN and I'm here to fix it 

That’s a great way to easily get it right! Thanks sent it to my son in law (who just avoided a serious injury or worse) on a different stationary woodworking tool. He bought harbor freights Cadillac of tools Hercules (lower lever called Bauer I think). Anyhoo using his newer chop saw from CHINA 🇨🇳 Hercules was European so I thought? And cutting a piece of ash the small carbide blades came flying off. Must be in a takada airbag/hercules facility??? Wanna keep my baby girls husband alive so she and I picked up a dewalt 12” sliding compound saw and while he’s me Hercules maybe he can find the strength to hurl the entire toothless saw back into the harbor freight it came out of. Michael: You say at 1:12 you are "an OKAY mechanic". You are wrong. You are a "VERY GOOD MECHANIC" with uncanny mechanical aptitude. I don't give a rip (no pun intended) about a planer, but every video you put out is an irresistible learning experience which I cannot pass up. Keep it up! And, yes, I'm looking forward to more outboard videos. But, meanwhile, this ain't bad........... Thank you.

Thanks for another great video. Really enjoy your channel. When my Uncle was alive he was a self taught master cabinet maker who ran a one man shop. As a young guy I visited his shop in PA. One of the machines he had was an XL Mold Matcher. It had 4 cutters on it and could produce any type of molding you could imagine. It had large HP electric motors and was an industrial quality machine. You could run a square board in one side and get intricate mold designs on each side of the board depending the the cutters mounted in the machine. As you know molding can be pretty expensive. He produced custom kitchens which required custom molding and he utilized the XL Mold Matcher to make his own molding. Talk about sawdust, when that thing ran it make an incredible amount of sawdust in no time and was extremely loud Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories.

Just when your thinking that you don’t need math or I’ll never use it , someone like this pops up and smacks you in the forehead with it ! And I thought we were friends !!! LMAO 🤣! Can ya get that one to work on your boat ? Lol

I discovered a local auction broker seems to have an excess of WEN branded power tools that I've been winning for literal fractions of retail costs. Picked up a newer model of this planer, the PL1326 which was labeled as "open box." After winning said auction for more than I really wanted to pay at half of retail, I discovers it was missing some components. After ordering the replacements for the dust collector and adjustment handle, I came to discover it has something else going on, as the adjustment is VERY difficult to turn. Was pretty dismayed with my results until finding your video. Despite the fact that my model has an entirely different mechanism with 4 lead screws linked with a chain under, I'm starting to feel a lot better at my chances of finding and resolving whatever ailes the planer currently. Think one of the lead screws might be bent, or it's badly out of time and the cutting head might be way out of level causing it to bind. Anyway, liked the video, and bummer some people can't stand the fact that you might enjoy hobbies other than outboards and wood working.. Have a sub, I too enjoy the loud mass accelerator hole punchers.

Got a nice old Delta like this in my basement. I have looked at the gears and the design is identical only my gears are steel. I will be watching this one to see where you go.

Could you have used a set of Parallel blocks one on each end of the cylinder. Remove the bottom rod and gears lower the cylinder to the parallel blocks then install the bottom rod and gears then do the fine adjustments. Just wondering.

I happen to have this planer and have been happy with its' results. For the money, it performs to the level I require. I presume the adjustment you used on the elevation screws would be the best way to get carriage parallel with the granite bed rather than timing the bevel gears under the planer base? Either way, thanks for sharing a very informative tutorial!

I enjoyed the gun target video. There always some things I'm not interested in any channel I watch. It's difficult to put up as many videos as some of you RU-vidrs put up (you included). Just keep going and I'll support you as much as I can. BTW, I know you're a little ways south for this, but have you ever thought of servicing/running snowmobiles? I'd love to see some four wheeler or snowmobile content!

Show me a good way to use a 4in dust collector with that 2in ID dust chute.

Hi unfortunately I broke the measurement guide on my WEN planer. Is there any solution other than replacing the whole thing? Is there a replacement guide?

Hi Mike, Understand on the variety. My channel has always been a multitude of subjects and has taken me forever to get over 1000 subs. Did I care? No because I hate being bored doing the same thing all the time. In fact, going to bring out my acoustic guitar and write up a song or two to share here shortly. Kinda like Kodi Bass does now and then just for fun. I want to keep it entertaining as well as something folks can learn from. Well, if it helps me hopefully it helps them, I mean. Haha

I watched this video because I'm looking to buy a WEN planer. It won't get alot of use, so I'm not buying a top of the line planer. I'll look for your gun videos.

It would work great that way if you want to wedges

When you test your machine you are flip flopping the board so the cut will always be pretty flat. Mark the wide board on one edge and always feed the same edge through. This will show the exact amount the blades are out of parallel.

the one drawback on those are the dust. there is no good way to make a chute for them.

Two problems I see, first problem, it's a Wen. Spend a few more dollars and get something better than Wen. Second problem, it's a Wen.
