Not an excuse, Nintendo is a multimillion dollar company, they can afford to allocate more resources to a dev team to make sure things are of sufficient quality.
@@anaxolotl5472 And I agree, they could've done so much more and make the kits actually fun/strong, but knowing nintendo I bet they just split the team into 2 instead of investing more resources into making a higher quality season while the rest of the team was busy with side order, wich is disapointing to say the least.
I don't know how much of an impact that had, Side Order has swamped what season it was supposed to release with 3 times. (Originally season 5, then 6 near launch, and 7 after the 1 year update)
Exactly, a lot of people and myself thought that Nintendo were going to go all-out on this season, but they ended up giving us way less than expected. I genuinely thought that they would maybe add all second kits into the game this update and then add all third kits in the Sizzle Season. Yes, that is very unrealistic. But here’s why: a dataminer said that the second kits for the new weapons were already in the game’s files, so I thought we’d get those immediately with the first kits.
I really like the Glooga Decos, I wish I could go to bat for this weapon SO HARD and claim "it's gonna be a mainstay in comp, just you wait!", but... well, it's gotta hurdle over Tenta, Splattershot, and _Squeezer_ as a Trizooka pick. But I really think this was a surprise good kit in the pile.
I will defend Bambrella a bit, it has a very high skill floor, just like Bamboozler lol. I do agree it's undertuned (especially the shield), but the kit isn't nearly as bad people are saying it is, and the shield does have uses that no other brella really has. (Good decoy, cheaper curling bomb, I've noticed it's actually more effective at making people fall back when its launched). That being said they need to rework its Ink Consumption for the shield launch. Flaring shouldn't be a fast-pass to a instant death.
I think the base shield should be 150 and 300 to 350 when launched. They also need to increase the shield damage when launched, so it combos with dart better. I've also found that you can shoot the sheild to paint a wide trail and paint with your main weapon at the same time. Also bubble is so good with this kit with how you can spam dart and shield. I'd argue it you should play it like VRoller with ninja squid.
@@juliansiles5410 Not really, main issue with dart is the throwing animation causing the centering to be different than your main, so it feels clunky as a result which is why so many people have trouble with it. It's a design issue lol
Why did they give 52 gal deco screen. It just makes the game so much worse. Not for the main or sub those are fine. But mainly screen. Ik this has been talked about but its starting to ruin matches as the sounds it makes make me feel nauseous and they just put it on a common main weapon
Short answer: Yes! Long answer: The devs clearly don't fully understand the balancing or kit design of their own game right now, and that's really, really depressing to see. It's felt like a rollercoaster of ups and downs with this dev team, with the balance, map design, weapon design and kits, and they somehow feel like they've barely learned anything besides how to make more original maps that aren't tetris pieces or hallways, not even necessarily better maps. I really hope the dev team expands or brings back a few more devs from S1/S2 into leading roles again, we need a major change to either how kits and patches are handled, or to how many we get every season. My ideal change would be two mid-season patches, with one big one near the middle and one either before or after for balancing. The big patch would add new easy content, like returning gear, a handful more weapon kits, map reworks if S4 ends up needing them (please not a year and a half in this time Nintendo...), new SR and Tableturf content not featured in the main updates, emotes, banners, etc. And would free up the main update to really just focus in on the new gear, weapons, and maps.
I think they're trying to split apart previous top-tier weapon's strengths and give them to new weapons for some variety, because they may have thought that those weapons could already do too much. They took away Brella's damage and gave it to Recyc while also buffing Brella's ink consumption, intending for it to stall out fights better rather than kill. They also gave Dynamo's paint to Big Swig, meaning they want Dynamo's flicks to be for damage rather than painting the map. I also have a feeling that they got inspired from prepatch S2 Ballpoint, giving the insanely fast strafe and fire speed to Edit.
If there's any consolation, Sprinkler is on 10 kits, and currently no sub has gone beyond 10 kits. And we haven’t seen it in 2 seasons, which is maybe a sign
For the, allegedly, second to last update for new weapons the devs absolutely dropped the ball on these kits. Long range weapons getting up close specials makes no sense in any way and these kits are all so underbaked. Squiffer is the shinning star of this patch but when the best kit of a update is a sniper you know the update is cooked
I was not expecting to like glooga deco as much as I have. Point sensor works shockingly well for it, allowing it to hunt people down and eliminate them with the long range 2 shot. I’m not even mad it didn’t get fizzy at this point. I do still wish it got inkjet instead of zooka, just because we don’t have many inkjet options in this game. But zooka is definitely still good on it. From a tier list perspective vglooga is probably still better. But dgloogas have surpassed the original to me in terms of fun. It feels like I’m playing dgloogas for the main weapon, while vgloogas can often feel like they are just playing the kit. I started playing glooga because I really like the main weapon, so a kit that emphasizes it more is a lot of fun to me.
The issue I have with Recycled Brella is that it tries to do too many things at once. It tries to play offense, but the shield is too flimsy. It tries to play defensive, but Big Bubbler is the only defense it has, forcing yourself to focus more on mobility. It’s a terrible Jack of All weapon, compared to something like V.Shot or even V.Blaster and, as you mentioned, Splat Brella (main weapon).
Your first issue is trying to play the "not-a-brella" like brella, the shield is something to be burned over and over again to control space, make paint, and interrupt enemies. the weapons design is not to stall but rather disperse and confirm kills while staying very mobile. There are definite weaknesses though where the Shield HP before launching is so low that you can get shield-break stunned even when trying to launch, for instance the "hIgH SKilL fLOor" sword is allowed to one tap the sheild with a tap shot. There's reason to believe it's also a bit buggy with damage bleeding past the shield and your hitbox becoming larger
I did notice that a lot with competitive players. People keep trying to flare the shield like you would with normal brella, but that's just not what its there for. You don't flare it, you commit fully and launch it because it's only a few frames extra and the shield comes back so fast that you'll have it back anyway by the time you need it again.
In defense of Triple Splashdown, my mostly used Special since the Emperry Dualies, is not usually stopped fast enough. I may get killed once or such (not playing in competitive) but they don’t get my fists stopped and I end up getting two Splashdowns afterwards. Sometimes it even kills them right after they get me.
Regardless of the actual kits themselves, I think close to all the weapons are at least fun. Especially the new mains, Douser especially is an extremely fun weapon, coming as someone who's a diehard Glooga fan I essentially got two new Gloogas in one update!
This season was pretty lackluster... but god I just cant seem to say that truthfully bc I got my DREAM KIT IN THIS UDPATE, I LOVE YOU C-LITER! WELCOME BACK, I MISSED YOU SO MUCH! Im really happy it got the #1 spot here too! Im gonna be pushing this weapon till the game dies!
Custom Eliter's kraken and beacons can also be used with good synergy, just pop kraken, rampage in the front lines then when it's over, jump back to your snipe
I would play the foil flingza in a heartbeat if they actually fix splattercolor's accessibility issues. (Ie the brightness and audio are still a real issue even post-patch from what ive heard and i cant comfortably use splattercolor screen as a result knowing that it causes these issues)
I had a pretty low opinion of 52 with screen as well but seeing Jackpot use it to great success on a Flounder Zones game has me reconsidering it somewhat. While screen definitely is still on the weaker side, and its lack of a combo with 52 decreases the synergy, 52's tendency to shark and whatnot really does synergies with the special well.
As a roller main I also think foil flingza is a pretty good kit, however the only thing I wish was different was if splattercolor screen was a little more faster so you can use it as a pushing tool too.
This season's weapons are a very mixed bag for me personal speaking, but for the ones I was looking forward, I'm satisfied for what I got honestly, .52, Nautilus and Gloogas Deco being highlights, plus I hope Heavy Edit and Custom Hydra get great second kits, here's hoping.
I do believe that it was a missed opportunity to give the .52 Gal Deco's OG kit from Splatoon 1, considering .96 Gal Deco got its OG kit back in Fresh Season 2023. Curling Bomb/Autobomb would have been a great callback to Seeker since it doesn't exist anymore, while Triple Inkstrike as a callback to Inkstrike.
.52 gal really should’ve gotten super chump because even though it wouldn’t be amazing, it fits well with gal’s aggressive playstyle, and super chump just needs more representatives.
Now I get why S2 rainmaker was more fun. The maps had different routes to mix things up. S3 maps mostly have only one route. I used to like zones too but the maps don't allow it to be fun.

Honestly as someone who was fearing screen on flingza. Its honestly a good kit and im actually enjoying it a fair amount. Still think something like torp jet wouldve been better but im not as disappointed as i once was
Back in Chill Season 22, you posted a video going over what every weapon was based on. I was wondering if you could do it, but for the new weapons? Some are obvious, like mop bucket, and others are a bit more confusing to me like the Douser Dualies.
I'm not a high rank player (rarely play ranked) so I love the new Dread and Explo kits, I think they're fun :) though I am disappointed about the Flingza kit. I don't like feeling like a missile spammer so I was hoping for literally any other special and they give it screen, a special I absolutely refuse to use :(
one thing I hope they do for recycled is remove shield stagger. Especially with the stupidly low hp it just feels so cheap that if someone breaks your shield you can't shoot back for a second, it really messes up the flow of the weapon. I'd also like to see them lower the white ink and endlag after launching shield even further, so that its movement feels even better, since that should be the main reason you'd use this over any other brella in the first place. Also if they buffed the launched shield hp multiplier that would honestly suffice, since I don't want this to take over the flaring brella playstyle normal brella already has.
I can't help but be a little disappointed that Glooga Deco didn't get Fizzy; Luna and Machine both got it back and if Bamboo Mk II does as well then it'll be the only one that didn't.
i love the new brella, but i see what you're talking about with it basically being the damage half of s2 brella. I think it could be pretty good with maybe 1.5x shield health and splat bomb
It’s debatable weather these are even bad kits as the main thing is that none of them don’t really fit the current meta. Like some of these have great potential but because of where we at mostly likely aside from Custom Liter and Glooga Deco you will pretty much never see these weapons next month
It's not just that they don't fit the meta, New Squiffer doesn't fit the meta *super* well but it's still gotten nothing but praise since it was announced. Most of these kits have one or more parts where no amount of theoretical buffs could ever give them synergy. For example, Explo and Naut will never want to play in most of the same positions as Splashdown, even if Splashdown got ridiculous buffs and Trizooka got excessive nerfs.
Really wished the brella was better. Especially since all it needs is a great kit and a shield buff and It can be a pretty strong option if it gets those buffs
Honestly I think custom exploser is a decent weapon but yeah I do agree with splash wall being a sub which the weapon already ink main focused really draws it back.
If I had a nickel every time a middleweight weapon with a perfect kit got point sensor and Trizooka as a second kit, Id have two nickels, which isnt a lot but its wierd that it happened twice.
Cool fact: if you go full on, swim speed up, with the 52 gal deco, you can literally become an unstoppable player and swims super fast and that can 2 shoot players.
I like the brand-new weapons for Salmon Run. The Canopy spam + Damage of the Brella goes crazy against Salmonids and the Douser Dualies have high Mobility + Damage, with only their ink consumption being ridiculous. It's also easy to roll off the stages with that huge Dodge Roll.
I've been using the Dread Wringer D and it's not terrible but one thing I have noticed is it majorly suffers from not having a damaging sub. But it's still competent due to the Wave Breaker. Also Like Vanilla Dread, it's amazing on zones.
I doubt they would give RB undercover health unless they buffed undercover health as well, so RB should go to 175 health. It's still small, but at least you get it back pretty fast. The inking needs 10-20% more width on the shots, but it might not happen since they want the canopy launch to ink. They might just end up buffing the canopy instead of the shots, which I am all for if it means better ink consumption for the canopy, but not if it means the main fire suffers.
After thinking about these weapons and the last balance patch and this games future, what I'm suspecting is that with just one season and 2-3 balance changes left before they stop with major content, the devs are probably hesitant to make any change that could cause a significant meta shift. Doing so could risk a big change for the worse, and as such would require a lot of review and rebalancing to fix, but as we know, these devs prefer to take a lot of time to review that kind of thing. They don't have that time anymore. As such, the easiest way to not risk big problems they dont think they have time to deal with is to make few, fairly inconsequential balance changes and release kits that will likely be mid or so. Hence, the declining amount of changes in the balance patches lately, seeing less and less top tier kit design over time, and why the staple of the current meta - Pencil - hasn't been touched. Im not saying I agree with this logic if it is true. Just what I think they think right now. As such, I wouldn't be surprised if all remaining balance patches don't shake up the game much at all. Same with the Sizzlin season weapons
My problem with the nautlis kit is that it trys to fix problems that 90% of splatlings have, helping to flush out enemies and a saftey incase you arent charged up, the problem is that the nautlis doesnt have these problems so the kit does nothing to help it with its actual problem, pushing forward. the better kit would be toxic mist and splattercolor screen. toxic mist would act as point sensor, however it would help with the problem of enemies like chargers who have prepared for your push and are charged up. splattercolor screen would help the nautlis push forward, its not as good as ink storm but specials like reefslider reintroduce problems witht the splating (I.E, now that the reefslider exploded you arent charged up anymore) and other than tacticooler i cant think of any other special good for it.
Honestly not impressed with the dousers myself. It's got really good range, but it's not terribly threatening in that mode. And while it's lethal in turret mode it's also very vulnerable. At which point why not just play a charger? You can still control space really well but now you're lethal at long range too. But at least they can be pretty fun, I'll give them that.
Honestly i wish the recycled canopy regened roughly instantly when destroyed and was 150 hp (still 100 attached) when launched it make for an interesting anti special and bomb tool
Nautilus as a main weapon feels strong enough to carry a mediocre kit, I enjoy having a bomb on it and splashdown is kinda meh, ink storm is definitely more useful but splashdown can be fun

Ngl I wanted the recycled brella's shield launch to 1-shot, sure it would be awful balancing but it would be so funny to have a brella with that ability.
I've always stood by the fact that wave breaker is the worst special in the game by far, they should drastically buff its damage to like 60 or something so that not all 3 waves need to hit to get a kill
