You know what would work nicely? If they did this rewards stuff throughout the year...then every year on the Sims anniversary gave the rewards to us in the base game along with whatever special other things they've got planned for the anniversary. That way there would still be the bit of fun involved in making sure to play so you can get something cool but no real worries of missing out forever.
Statistically it does not. You will reach max level quicker with it than without it, and it works better than similar traits except ones gotten through gameplay.
Its a challenge trait, thought I would hate it but I love it as I also use many skill nerfs and skill decay mods anyone so that gaining/losing and even holding onto skills has some variance and isn’t just a linear build for every sim. I like the trait, don’t like it behind a time sensitive ‘event’ wall. The vending machine and trashcan are cool as well, but they can keep the rest of it.
If it was not time sensitive I wouldn’t mind. If for example you had do log in 3 days before receiving a new thing then it would feel like a reward for playing instead of a punishment if you don’t have time.
I enjoyed the trash can, like everyone else, the mini fridge is nice to have for base game as well as the single pillow (i have used the pillow many times now), the hair style and the vending machine i guess are ok (to me), haven't played with the trait yet. And the 1-tile bar was also interesting, imo. Honestly, people were complaining about how you have to play the game to get the rewards, but all you have to do is open the game. Even as i'm doing something else around the house i open the game, claim my reward, and close it. You can also just claim it all at the end. And i also think most of the rewards were really good for anyone that doesn't have any packs. I wish they would do this more often, even related to new packs/events/holidays. However, i think there should be a "catch up" system for anyone that hasn't been able to go into the game at that time or those who start playing later, since these are rewards that aren't available at any other time - base game only players deserve more! Basically, tldr: Yes the rewards were worth it. Its a good addition to base game only players. But it should be claimable all year. So instead of time locked, "log in locked". You log in once, you get the 1st rewards, second time you log in, you get the 2nd rewards and so on.
You don’t have to play. You literally just have to click login. You could have had someone do it for you. You didn’t miss much at all, just a little bonus for the people who play the game at the moment - which doesn’t seem to include you. At some point people need to realise life isn’t always going to be focused entirely on you.
I got all the rewards, I feel like the pillows were absolutely pointless especially on consoles because how do we use them?! Even with cheats, I cannot figure out how to raise and lower things on a console! I do appreciate the other items, especially the bin 😊
If you're on PS, make sure bb.moveobjects is on. Then both your triggers + the up button. If your item goes up an entire floor: ensure your move objects is on.
Agreed or we could have had them as reward items for playing the game. Each time we played a scenario, logged in to the game, completed an aspiration, etc. we would have earned points, maybe called plumbob points, and used those to unlock the items, much in the same way sims earn aspiration points, and use those to get things. At least, like you said, they should have been regular update, and then I won’t have had to miss out.
This seems even more work than just logging in, which people are complaining about 😂. I’m sorry but if we’re at the point people don’t want to turn the game on then maybe it’s time they just play something else 🤷🏼♀️

I’m only 3 minutes in so yell at me if you mention this later but the single tile bar was made to match the swatches of the kitchen counters so it can fit in with them so that’s probably why it doesn’t match the rest 😅

Exactly this. Even though I got everything, I don’t want use the items cause people who weren’t around for this one week that they were released won’t be able to use anything I upload to the gallery using them. Had it just been a free update and not time sensitive I think it would’ve been fine, great even. But making it time sensitive doesn’t work for a creative community-based game like The Sims. It’s like if in Minecraft certain blocks were only available for a limited time and anyone that didn’t get them in time can’t play in lobbies that have the blocks in the world.
I love the new items but I’m frustrated that I can’t use these in builds without players that missed the event being excluded from having them in the build.
Everyone who has base game already has these in there game, there’s just a tiny strung of code basically hiding it so like if they download your build with it, it will stay in the build it just won’t be in there build/buy so if they say delete the nano can recolor for whatever reason (space, a little bit of rearranging the room for their personal gameplay) then they can’t retrieve said can again from Build/Buy. Because for them it is unlisted. Same with the trait, they could download a gallery sim with the trait, but they won’t be able to make new sims with the trait because its hidden and not selectable for them in CAS.
Never worked for me, so I couldn’t get any of them. Could never click on the square for getting the rewards. Ironically, I could click on the tutorial square about how to collect them though 😂🙄😂🙄😂

That's true. Just give it. I was on vacation, so I believe I missed getting the bar and trash can. Idk. But when they do something nice, u kinda just gotta be grateful. They may feel some type of way if we complain and not give us nothing again. Feel me❤

I believe there's going to be a one tile bar in Lovestuck pack. If you watch the announcement trailer, it shows one very briefly and it's different from the log in event reward.
Ooh, interesting! For some reason, I thought the "new" trash can was a recolor of the metallic base game one that's the same shape but a bit taller and open on top. I'm so much more interested now that I know it's the one that gives you money. I assume it's still just as expensive though? But at least, it looks better. Tbh, I claimed all these prizes bc I happened to open the game enough times or whatever (I still don't understand how it works and have never understood it, no matter how many times people try to explain it), but I wasn't interested in almost any of them.
I would rather have these be scenario rewards instead of log in rewards. I just forgot to log in because I have a busy life so I missed most of the rewards. Plus, if they were scenario rewards then we would have more of an incentive to play scenarios.
My issue with a lot of stuff like this, a lot of the free "new" content that they add to the game, is it's usually just stuff that's been ripped out of other packs. I wish they'd make new stuff instead of taking things out of packs, which brings their value down and personally makes me a little mad that content I paid for is not even part of a pack anymore.
I dont care about the fact I paid for it already in old packs. I wish they made new stuff like the trait and other items because it would show more effort and care and would actually diversify our games instead of filling it up with duplicates of the same kinds of objects. Sims 4 has so much potential, why not explore new items and objects and styles instead of going back to the same things over again.
I don't mind the log-in rewards. But I am worried for what it might mean for the future. Especially for sims 5. It does seem like they're trying out some stuff to see what sticks and then they'll probably put that in 5. And I'm worried. I don't want sims to become the kind of game where you have to log in and do your dailies to get everything out of it. I miss sims 2.
I love the new Nano Can but I would actually prefer it to be more expensive than 300 simoleans. Making it so much cheaper kinda makes it less challenging for my Sim to work hard for it. I would expect it to be the same price at least if not more because of the nicer design. I don't really like the new trait. It's confusing and the frequent animation that the Sim does (taking out a pen and paper) every time gets annoying pretty quick. So I don't see myself using that trait anytime soon, unless I'm not playing that Sim or if that Sim is in a non-active household.
The money trash can was completely worth it IMO- I use that trash can in most of my households and the original was so handy, but really ugly so having recolors I awesome. Of the other stuff I can see myself using the necklace, the single bar, and the sweat suit quite often.
I think this is the best they can do in terms of events. I find it interesting that now people talked about fomo, but not with the other events. 8 days of opening the game, don't even need to open a save vs doing things in a save file. I'd just suggest doing this every 6 months. Rather than the first event finished, time with the next. Obviously most are going to say nope. I have heard this is a test and that's why not everyone got this. I'm thinking it's actually a glitch and was surprised many hated the glitch rather than "oh well". So hopefully they straighten that out first but again I'm sure most are saying don't do this or anything else like this ever.
We didn't have the SDX Drop to compare it to in past events, we only got new stuff via update and even then it rarely happened. They gave us cute but so-so posters and a very underwhelming version of the Plant Sim that almost everyone forgot about; nothing close to FOMO. The game takes longer to load if you have CC (even after merging files) which is how a lot of PC players prefer to play the game and it required multiple log-ins with some artificial timers in place (things being unlocked by week.) This also made more players aware of how the game stores their event prizes. It took just enough effort to get these items that were pretty decent and valued by players without packs (IE a big chunk of the newest free-to-play people) but it could be lost if players didn't know they needed to keep a backup of a specific file, so it left a sour taste for some. Edit: Also past events had some minor game-play during the event so of course the people who didn't care about that actively avoided it (but still might've been irritated) while the people who enjoyed having a guided quest (prototype-scenario) were more eager to try it out. Enough people were miffed about some of the scenarios not always being available without mods, some were irritated about the timed events back then too. Also, as long as you opened the game during the event and started it with one Sim (and preserved the Event file and Save) then you could complete it when you were ready. Still could be lost but people at least knew about preserving their Saves. This event had no game play and was dependent on how easy it is to load up the Sims 4 a few times a week over the course of 4 weeks which could vary depending on personal life events so a broader and even more mixed reaction.
@@DoveJS I know about CC slowing down the game. I'm at 40 GB. I did forget about how the stuff is connected to the game rather than account so if people have to uninstall Sims or the EA app entirely.... So something else they need to fix before doing this again.
@@AutobotSimmer Yeah, mine's 46 GB with a ton of CC merged using S4S. My load times were at least 5 minutes, possibly more, but my PC is several years old and not a gaming rig. I temporarily removed my old folder during the event but I wouldn't have thought to do that if I hadn't told Sims 4 to use DX11 and found I needed to wait for CC updates because it got glitchy. After that it was like night and day; Sims 4 loaded in just a minute at the most. Admittedly I don't know if DX11 helped a lot with the load time. (I also mid-way got some more RAM because a friend upgraded their CPU, their old RAM wasn't compatible, but it still loaded faster before that got added in.) As far as the ini file goes, I have a feeling if Maxis could do it differently from the beginning then they would have. At least now players who keep up with any Sims content will know which one to keep a copy of but that's not everyone. So I agree, it'd be better if they can change how that works, I'm just not optimistic it's possible.
@@DoveJS they did day DX11 will help with lag. I'm hoping Sims4Studio can release a mass update, but something tells me no and there's CC I use that I know are abandoned and a lot I don't remember where I got it from or it was years ago. RAM could also be helping. My current computer has 32 GB vs my old system at 16 GB. I'm certain mods/ cc doesn't apply to the argument that 16 GB RAM is enough for a gaming system. I didn't know we could merge CC files in 4. I did it for 3. I just think this is the best ideasl they'll have for events that people won't be too mad vs here's a challenge you'll have to complete. Sure it could be a month long, but if it's something a player doesn't like. I think they'll be seeing a lot more 'i didn't like this ' in the survey they released and of course social media and decide never mind, but if not, hopefully they realize they need to make the unlocked items attached to players account rather than the save. I'm certain many games have done this.
@@AutobotSimmer True, that's why I think the DX11 probably helped and yeah, I got bumped up to 32 GB RAM so it definitely helped. I had 8GB (reasonable for anything except gaming) and just couldn't afford an upgrade for a long time so my friend gave me a blessing. I'll have to have the CC in to see how big a difference that part truly makes but I had taken it out before the RAM boost. I feel like merging with Sims4Studio is easier than the old program for Sims 3. I forget where it is but it's up there in the top menu somewhere. It allows about 1.5 GB max to be merged. They recommend keeping backups of the originals ofc, and it can take a long time to merge thousands of them, even if the folder is very organized. I spent the better part of two days the last time I batch fixed (hadn't done it in a while) and merged everything that I wanted to. The only major downside to CC is maintaining it. Over the years I've also removed a lot of stuff, either unsupported and major updates breaking or I don't use it very often. I might have to do another declutter but it's time-consuming; I don't look forward to it. So for right now the only thing I'm using are custom loading screen and plumbob. I might try putting the rest back, mostly CAS, just to see but until for example MCCC is definitely compatible with the DX11 I'll remove the scripts. I agree that this is probably the best they could've done for a simple event except I don't feel like imposing a weekly staggered release across the month was necessary, and ofc it'd be best if they could tie it to accounts instead of the ini. I feel like the main problem is we've had SDX drops for years now, people wouldn't have been as upset if they did this event before releasing those. But I guess we'll see what the actual results of the survey ended up being.
I've heard a lot lately about S4 Skill Categorization for Teens - Elderly Sims: mental etc. It might be worth it for the Sims team to make that clear in skill system.

I don't like this login event. I don't like how it impacts my personal time outside of the game. I can't just log in whenever because of life. I also don't understand why some people had to wait two weeks before they could start. An event is something people experience together. Making some people wait for two additional weeks so they can only get item one at the moment others have already unlocked item 5 is not very nice. And then there is the issue that these items are stored locally one your computer. I know what file to back up not to loose them because I visit the forums but a lot of people don't. The items themselves are nice. I have been wanting more pillow recolors and a that exact same small fridge without the stickers on them from the university swatches before this event. So I got two objects I already wanted before the event. The single bar is also very useful. I am glad there is another one shown in the lovestruck trailer for those who missed out of this 'once and never again' event. If only the sims would repeat events. I am still hoping to one day play the plantsim event because I wasn't playing when it first happened.

I only got to claim up to the hair. I missed the pillows, new trait, and vending machine with sweatpants set. It’s dumb that there no way of getting them afterwards

I didn’t mind the log in event. Simmers have a tendency to complain about everything but you just had to log in and that was it. Not sure why turning the game on is a problem for genuine fans. As for the items themselves I like the trait but otherwise I had most of this stuff from the packs.
I hate that the rewards are tied to your computer and not your account. I lost them in a reinstall because I assumed I owned them permanently like my packs.
Other than that I like them. Felt like a fun little treat when booting up the game. Like someone else said, it would be cool if there were rewards like these for scenarios instead of satisfaction points.
I've never seen that tracksuit? I have all the rewards and that's not part of it for me and I also can't find it when googling. Can you please shed some light on this?
it came the last day with the vending machine so if you have that then you should have the tracksuit. go to the category i went to and sort by basegame it should be there
Oh it was a vending machine. Lol Yeah did NOT get that one or the speeded reader but it's ok. I have the other vending machine from snowy pack. Its just a knock off of it so no big deal. I was just glad to play the event for what it was. Something kinda fun and Different and getting free stuff was cool too. 👍✌
I’m now in week 4 because they had issues with rolling it out in my country lmao. What a failure. They should focus on other things imo, but I’m sure they are trying new things to see what they can get away with, with project rene in mind
I got just about all the prized except for the speed reader thing and the very Last item. Which I think was some kind of a taller refridge. But thats ok cuz I still have the mini fridge. I think the event ends now today. It was ok. We got Free stuff so that was good thing about it. It was also makeing the game run a bit BETTER I thought. Did anyone else think so?? Now that its ending today the game is NOT going to run as well. Maybe 🤔 I just felt it WAS helping. The system of it was helping to make the game run a BIT BETTER. With out it the game MAY NOT. Again maybe. 🤔 still it was something different and kinda fun. I would NOT mind doing another one IF EA puts another one out.👍🖕
The cushion is alright, but I use CC for much nicer ones anyway. The more normal looking cash trash can (I can’t remember what it’s actually called😂) I use a fair bit but the rest? Thoroughly meh. I absolutely hate the new hair mesh bc the old one is ugly as hell in the first place. The hairline sits WAY too low on the forehead and it just looks like an ugly hat

It's worth it because EA truly makes us pay for everything. If they give something for free, it's late asf and we already bought it... So yeah, give me, give me, give me... Because baby... EA don't do handouts... The only soup kitchen their doing is the one our Sims volunteer at😂 I appreciate it. Give me sum more pls sir....❤
Umm, the temporarily free packs were handouts and so are all the SDX drops they did that weren’t timed events. Heck, you can STILL get Grim’s Ghoulish Guitar if you want it and the free Holiday ‘pack’. Free stuff is fine, but either just do an SDX drop or tie it to something ALWAYS accessible like scenerios or reaching a playing milestone, not some timed event.
I don’t like login rewards at all! I wish I could spend more time playing the Sims but I can’t ‘cause I work over 40h a week. And this has divided the community! “Only true gamers will receive these rewards” I am a loyal fan of the Sims franchise, I have played the Sims 4 for over 7000h according to the EA app. But only people with certain live-styles can login to their favorite games several times a week.
Weird take to say 'we already had most of these items in packs' when not every player is as privileged as you to own all of the packs. I bet most people don't even own five packs

More than 16 million people downloaded TS4 when it became free to play - it's totally understandable why they did this. It's so strange to me how literally every EA partner has a similar script of "I don't know how I feel about this..." It's an overall gain, what else is there to feel? People that play are rewarded the bonuses and people that don't, don't. Full stop. They give away free packs - it is what it is.
bc i’m personally indifferent. 1. i know that comes from having these assets covered in my game already which is a place a privilege and 2. ive seen varying options so always wanna open my comments to that. hence why i said idk know how i feel bc im kinda just like yeah, they’re there. maybe it’s bc i dont use the items like this much anyway so new swatches im like ehh. plus its a new feature so i think feedback is important
Because people are allowed to feel differently from you. This isn't a shooter game. It's not an RPG. We are allowed to decide we don't like something because of how it works. This is a mechanic that will be monetized, it's monetize in every other game. People pushing back against that isn't bad just because you lack foresight.

It wasn't worth it for how much they pissed off and divided the community. In typical EA fashion, they also screwed up the rollout in many countries and some people never even got the event to work. I'm sure the next FOMO event will cause even more angst. But hey, someone at EA will hit their meaningless metric and get a nice bonus, so yay?
