Thank you, the assemble instructions are very clear and just what I need. One note sir, the shoes you worn to climb up the ladder were very unsafe with no backing on the heels. You could slip and fall, so please be careful. Thank you again.

After watching video I went to the big box store to purchase one for trim work around upper floors Windows. I've noticed this device on ladders placed on service trucks and never realized until now how useful it would be for me.

That's cool Cat! Yeah, it's great for working around windows. It helps keep you centered to the work, rather than having to reach out. A great and useful product! Glad it's working out for you. On an aside, if you do much work on extension ladders, I have a review posted for some Werner automatic leg levelers. They too are a great product- especially if working on uneven ground. I will never be without a set after using them. I'll include a link the that video as it might be of interest. Take care, G. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BI_r_JiNF3w.html

I've been using these in the siding and gutter biz for over 20 years. Couldn't live without them. Thanks for the review. Oh yeah, the clip on ones work even better for light weight(20 to 24 ft) ladders. Plus they come off quick for storage, or installing downspout s. Cheers

You are scaring me with those flip flops. You need proper footwear. I decided to get rid of my aluminum 32' and go with a fiberglass 28' ladder after using the 40' fiberglass ladder and noting how less of a wobble it has when compared to the aluminum 32' when extended, plus the 32' is more than I need around my 2 story homes; the weigh reduction and 4 less feet will be a good thing. Btw, that 40' is a beast of a ladder. Fortunately, I only rented it for a day to take of some things.
@ghostses
@ghostses 7 лет назад
Yeah, I only had them on during the video. I certainly wear my boots when doing actual work. I used to have a 28' Werner fiberglass ladder and know exactly what you mean. At full length, it wobbled way less than this one even though it was 12' longer. Good luck with your new one! Take care, G.

Just got stabilizer, seems to make the ladder safer but I seem to be too far away to calk the siding in the middle and lower on my 24 foot ladder. On a 32 foot it I can imagine it would push me further away from the siding. Of course I should perhaps extend the ladder to the height I need and then make it higher. I also am nervous about falling (well actually not the falling just the impact of my head on teraferma ! ) so i use some heave sandbags on the bottom and wear my bike helmet - look like a dork but better safe than sorry right. I also use a level every time I set the ladder to make sure it's seated properly - my 24 foot ladder does not have adjustable feet :(
@ghostses
@ghostses 7 лет назад
I can see how that could be a problem. LOL! I agree, it's not the falling so much, rather the impact that's the problem. And I've done it a few times. A two story fall and I got right up but was sore for a few days. A 6' fall and I messed up my wrist, elbow, and knee. There was more time to react from the taller fall. I say there's nothing wrong with suiting up- no matter how you might look. Might as well try to mitigate the risk! I have a set of automatic levelers on my ladder now and have shot a video on them. A bit expensive and need to be installed properly, but they're awesome. I will never own a ladder without them now. You might consider a set. Good luck, G. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BI_r_JiNF3w.html

Instruction says to put in on the first rung, but if I do that, I barely bypass the gutters and it barely catches the the edge of the roof. If I extend the ladder further, then the ladder touches the gutters.
@ghostses
@ghostses 5 месяцев назад
Installing on the top rung is only for working below the point of contact. If you want to use it to get on a roof, you should have it mounted a few rungs down. That's not your complaint, but had to include it. It sounds like you're either trying to go too high, or your ladder is not at the correct angle to the structure. I really don't know your situation, but try more setups so you can preform your tasks, and be safe at the same time. Not much help, but hopes it helps in some way. Good luck, G.
@mr.boniato6402
@mr.boniato6402 5 месяцев назад
@@ghostses Yeah I think I tried that, but in order for the stabilizer to make contact with the roof, I have to angle it a lot. I think I may just need a stabilizer that has longer reach. Mine is only 10 inches. Maybe the 14 inch would work better.
@ghostses
@ghostses 5 месяцев назад
@@mr.boniato6402 Possibly, not sure. Having to angle it "a lot" is a recipe for disaster. The general rule on the angle is to put your toes on the bottom of the ladder, and extend your arms with palms facing forward (bent wrist). The palms should just touch the sides of the ladder. Move the ladder either way at the bottom to achieve this. That's the safety part, but if it still doesn't clear- there is another issue and you might be right on needing a longer standoff. Not sure, but if you do find a solution, please post so others might benefit. Again, take care, G.

I purchased the Leg Levelers last week, expensive ($86.00 before tax). This piece of equipment may have saved me from injury since house is built on slope and I needed to be twenty four feet in air. Very easy to install on ladder. The ladder stabilizer plastic feet pops off often do I put duct tape around it so the feet won't come off when I'am moving ladder.
@ghostses
@ghostses 8 лет назад
Very cool! Yeah, the levelers are a tad expensive- but I know I'll never be without them from now on since they work so well. Your the second person stating the caps fall off on the stabilizer. Mine doesn't have that problem for whatever reason. It makes me wonder if they've changed them in some way. Aside from that, I'm glad you're satisfied with it. Take care, G.

This model will work for 4" Gutters but 6" gutters require precise placement on the roof it you are trying to stay off of the gutters if you are putting on gutter screens. Also, the feet kept sliding off onto the roof until I put a self tapping screw into a side of the feet.

Hey Ghostes. I don't know if you're still on RU-vid, but I have a Werner 20' aluminum extension ladder, and I'm considering the stabilizer. I will use the stabilizer to rest on my roof because I'm cleaning the gutters, but the main reason I want to lay the stabilizer on my roof is that I have hedges in one section of my house that are about 3' in diameter and they prevent me from getting the ladder close to the house. I know I'll be breaking the 1 in 4 rule. It will probably be more like a 2 in 4 rule. I hope my angle is not too wide. Thank you for your help.
@ghostses
@ghostses 2 года назад
I am J. The stabilizer does work great for my applications. With the problem area you have around the hedges, I can't see how using one would hurt. As for the rule, perhaps you could drive some stakes in the ground to prevent the ladder from slipping? Perhaps that and a spotter could provide the safest scenario for what your task is. Not advice, but merely a suggestion. Whatever you come up with for your task, be safe and don't do anything where you don't feel safe. Good luck, G.
@whasumara73
@whasumara73 2 года назад
@@ghostses Thank you very much ghostses. I much appreciate your reply and support. My extension ladder has those swivel teeth feet. So that should secure the ladder. By the way, I did some measuring. The distance from the edge of the gutter to the edge of the hedge is approximately 6 ft. and the height from the ground to the gutter is 9 ft. I placed the ladder on a section with no hedges in reference to those measurements, and it's not that far out. Plus the ladder stabilizer and the teeth feet should work. Thank you once again for your time and feedback.

Hey G, any other good video. I have had the removable version since 2007. I love it. I choose the removable because I carry the ladder on my truck from time to time. Using it above the shingles also reduces damage to the drip edge of the roof. I use a 6ft tension (or ratchet) strap and a screw in dog leash anchor to secure the bottom of ladder. If your house is on piers and on is in front of your ladder you can loop a load strap around the pier. 32 yrs in the fire service, climbing countless ladders and, never was comfortable on one. Never fell, but always over cautious. Looking forward to the next video.
@ghostses
@ghostses 10 лет назад
I liked the removable version for the same reasons, but unfortunately they state it would not work in my ladder. I will need to remove this even for storage around here, but that's no big deal. I'm not on piers, but that's a good idea! I'm cautious as well. I remember two spills. One climbing to a second story roof with a sloped grade. My spotter took his feet off the feet of the ladder and it kicked out. I belly flopped the ground and was only sore the next day or so- lucky! Then on another job I was on a 6 foot step ladder and someone rocked the ladder (horse play) and put me over the center of gravity. That one jacked up my knee, wrist, and elbow. It was such a short fall I didn't have any time to react plus I had tools in my hands. It seems it's always someone else messing around or not paying attention that gets me hurt. G.

I bought this same standoff because it said clearly on the tag at Home Depot that it worked with “Little Giant” ladders. It DOES NOT. Being stubborn and not wanting to return it, I found a way to make it work by using a vice to bend the U bolts. However, it takes forever to assemble this way and so I leave the ladder assembled with the standoff which takes up a lot of space. I DO NOT advise this standoff for Little Giant or other similar folding, extending aluminum ladders.
