I think what you guys didn't understand (at least early on) is that Freddy is attacking these guys in their dreams. You seemed to expect that Tina would be completely lucid and normal in her dreams as if she was awake. When you are dreaming, you do not make normal decisions and act the same way that you do in real life. You go outside in your pajamas; you follow rabbits down the rabbit hole.

There is a deleted scene which explains (when Nancy's mother was fessing up about Freddy) that Freddy killed Nancy, Rod, Tina, and Glen's siblings. They weren't only children. This is why they went after Freddy after he was let go. He killed their kids.

You guys realize that they are asleep and dreaming when Freddy is after them, right? They aren't actively walking into dangerous situations or choosing not to have a weapon, lol. When you're in a dream, you experience it as it happens, and you don't really make your own choices.

The ending that actually is in the movie wasn't the original ending Wes Craven had put into it. He had to change it because Home Line Cinema planned for sequels, so this ending kinda prevented you from to know what happened to Nancy. This movie also saved Home Line Cinema from going bankrupt. Please go through the whole Nightmare on Elm Street series some of the movies have really good and innovative practical effects. Part 3 and 7 are kinda the most favored besides part 1. Theres also a cross over between Jason from Friday the 13th and Freddy called Freddy vs Jason which is really good, too.

It's actually not Freddy in New Nightmare. It's a demon who takes on the form of Freddy. Miko Hughes is annoying in that movie. The best part of it is that Robert Englund is in it. That's the only good thing about that movie.

Many will say the series drops off with part 2 but is quickly picked back up with 3. The entire series is worth a watch imo. The perfect trilogy is 1, 3, & 7 (New Nightmare). Hope y’all continue to watch.

In the geyser scene, the blood flowed into one of the lights and one of the set technicians got electrocuted. That's why you see the blood angle off the ceiling.

Home Alone came after this. Given how huge this was, there's every chance that Home Alone was inspired by this film. As for Nancy, she's my favourite Final Girl of all time. She's just so awesome. And there's a good reason why - Wes Craven wrote her to be a role-model for his then-teenage daughter.

The dancing running part in the alley was a stunt double Tina ran into Robert himself as the close up, which is why the freddy running in the alley is so goofy…but the best special effect in this film hands down was him seeping through the wall over Nancy…cause that was creepy and all practical effects

The two trivia things I remember hearng about this movie.....First one I knew,...The sleep study doctor is Charles Fleischer aka the voice of Roger Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. And the 10 jersey worn by Johnny Depp, Tatum from Scream wore that jersey as a nod to this movie.

I just finished your reactions to this movie if you want more background story on Freddy Kruger there is also A Nightmare on Elm Street T.V series the 1st 2 episodes explains what truly happened to Freddy and why he haunts there dreams. The 1st episode from the T.V. series is called No more MR. You guys missed the key element to this movie... it's taking place in their dreams. Does everything you do or everything that happens in your dreams make sense? You kept asking "why?" and calling characters dumb... in dreams, people and actions rarely make sense or follow a logical path.

Most of the sequels suck but they are pretty much in the "so bad they are good" category. Except for the 7th and final sequel the 1994 Wes Craven's New Nightmare. It drops alot of the cringe that most of the sequels have and it has a meta concept as it is told from the viewpoint of the actual actors and Wes Craven. I like the Freddy vs Jason even tho it is pretty cheezy, but its just fun. I did not care for the 2010 reboot as I just can't see anyone being Freddy but Robert Englund.

@Cinepals GUYS PLEASE WATCH THE PITCH MEETING FOR THIS MOVIE !!! THE PLOT WAS THE STRONGEST PART OF THE MOVIE AND RYAN JUST DEMOLISHED IT, EXPOSING SO MANY PLOT HOLES. If you think about it, this movie was overrated as hell, especially with the level of movies that have come after it. But for its time I guess it was fine.

I think when it comes to this movie, people are too hard on Glen. As well as Nancy’s parents. I mean, I know she’s right but would you really believe her?

Nice reaction you should finish the Halloween films watch Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends there fantastic that's the order to watch them in since every film is ignored apart from the OG one you watched last year.
