Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this content we review our friends some of the fleet from Carnforth 10A of our friends of West Coast Railways from Saturday 22nd of May to Saturday May 29th 2021.
3 locomotives were seen during the 8 day period in the Northern Fells most notably The Settle & Carlisle.
We start on Saturday 22nd of May with David Smith's rebuild Merchant Navy bulleid pacific 35018 British India Line working The Cumbrian Mountain Express The Railway Touring Company's 1st charter train of 2021.
However the outward leg didn't go to plan due to poor weather conditions & signalling problems south of Milton Keynes & West Coast Railways's class 33 diesel bringing the stock from West Coast's depot at Southall in west London on the Western Region had broken down at Acton Mainline at the junction were it joins the WCML & as a result causing over a 2 hour delay.
Class 86 electric 86259 Les Ross did all of the north bound run to Carlisle from Euston rather than as far as Carnforth.
We 1st see 35018 at Shap Wells as he along with support coach headed to Carlisle to turn ready to do the return working. Despite only having the support coach BIL was really going for it.
We later catch up with 35018 hauling the tour at Ais Gill summit & was lucky 10 minutes before 35018 came heavy rain came down but happily the weather cleared & BIL running 15 minutes late at this point was in fine form with 13 coaches in tow.
We end the clips of 35018 climbing to Ais Gill summit 1,169 feet above sea level & the border for Cumbria & Yorkshire.
Our next loco we see is David Smith's jubilee 45699 Galatea still carrying the identity of scrapped sister 45562 Alberta as she makes her 1st public appearance of 2021 as she works West Coast Railway's The Pendle Dalesman from Lancaster to Carlisle & return via the S&C.
We capture the return working 1st running through Kirkby Stephen on the climb to Ais Gill before finishing our shots of 45562 at Preston as she pulls in to drop off her passengers before carrying onto Lancaster.
The following day 45562 Alberta (aka 45699 Galatea) heading to her summer base at The National Railway Museum in readiness to work the York to Scarborough & return leg of West Coast Railways's The Scarborough Spa Express.
We end this content with 1 of our favorites The Princess Elizabeth Locomotive Society's 6201 Princess Elizabeth under West Coast Railways care on behalf of the society as she to was making her 1st public appearances of 2021.
We see her in action on The Northern Belle dining train her main commitment over the next 5 months till October 2021.
We feature the 1st 2 days of her operating on The Northern Belle on May 27th & May 29th outward via Shap & back over the S&C.
We 1st see her at Oxenholme Lake district on the WCML on May 29th as she speeds past with 12 coaches in tow & a class 57 diesel at the rear providing the odd assistance & to operate the air conditioning & the central locking on the MK2 & MK3 cars of the train.
We next see her at Kirkby Stephen on the return run as she speeds past running 8 minutes early at that point.
We end with the best till last on May 27th at Birkett Common in glorious sunshine including the added bonus of seeing Atlas 400 air craft of The Royal Air Force flying by before Lizzie came by as she approaches Birkett Tunnel.
Thanks for reading enjoy the content of some of the locos from The Carnforth 10A fleet of West Coast Railways.

Beautiful cinematography, especially how from far away you capture not just (for instance) 35018 steaming well (no black smoke) but also her exciting sounds. Loved the butterfly at 16:45. A classic shot is at 6:10 with the beautifully proportioned road bridge and the drywall fencing. We have bridges like that on the Bendigo line (built 1860-72) in Victoria, Oz and drywall stone fencing between Colac and Camperdown on the Warrnambool line (the latter being just about the only drywall fencing in Australia). Sequences from 8:10 where you show the bare hills around and then station clock at Kirky Stephen make your videos even better.
