Part one of two. A ride through Arthurs Pass in the Southern Alps on a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King Classic and a 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS on State Highway 73 to Greymouth and up State Highway 6 ocean road. Overnighting in Westport. Before Arthurs Pass we cross the Waimakariri River which flows east to the Pacific Ocean entering just to the south of where I live. The road from Greymouth to Westport is a must do for anybody touring in the South Island of New Zealand. It is quite spectacular. Allow plenty of time to stop and take in the views. Stop off at Punakaiki if you have never been before. Well worth the views there although it can be very touristy in the summer months.
