Basic information to select the best performance tires for your H.O. slot car. We will discuss the different tire materials, compounds, tools needed, and cleaning your tires!
I had no idea of the different types of tires. This has given me fuel for thought. I have gotten back into the hobby in the last 2 years with my own track. Most of my cars (if not all of them) are unmodified but what I am learning from you might change that. After watching your video on cleaning your cars, I've started cleaning my fleet with some outstanding results.
Hi Synick! Thank You for your comments!! I have learned so much from this hobby over the years and I’m happy to share it with all the others! Happy to hear that you got back into H.O. slot cars and it sounds like you are getting your cars to run TIP TOP. Please feel free to reach out to me if there is anything I can help you with. GOD BLESS!!!
Good video.. Could you give the exact description of the front wheels and tires?? You said the front wheels were an independent set up. I was wondering what size they were?
@@TRXperienced Thanks for the response. It is an older A/FX. Don't know if you're familiar an older one that is a Datsun 240Z, red with white sides and the number 46 on the doors. It has thin up front but the rear tires cracked and fell off long ago. Don't think this is much help. Perhaps I should measure the diameter of the rims?
@@greggieboy1046 Here is a link to an eBay seller that has the stock replacement tires: www.ebay.com/itm/114962049234 I recommend silicone tires if you are going to be racing. I use SuperTires.460R on my AFX track system.
The ones I have seen from Viper are small and limited as to size range. Personally I want a tire gauge for all HO slotcars. For sure .460 down to about .340 I'm probably just going to use drill gauge sizer. Won't have 2 one thousandths of an inch increments but I'll deal with it. Last time I saw one like the one in the video was on eBay and it sold for close to $100. Stuff that people actually like is hard to find. Same with a decent SG+ endbell tool.
