Thank you so much! You are helping a lot of kids to understand these poems that seem difficult at first but are actually quite simple when explained properly. You are a great teacher! ❤
Thank you. Very informative .I didn't even know that Texas was originally apart of mexico , that would explain why there are so many latinas especially from Mexican descendant .
Sir I have one more poetry video of yours to watch. I have been binging them for the past two weeks as exam is Friday and you make them so easy to understand! At first I neglected to watch the long ones but when I finally got around to doing so it didn’t even feel like 10 minutes has passed. Thank you!
This sounds much like an assignment 😅As for tone, you could say sarcastic. As for mood, perhaps resentful or reflective. I've talked about the importance of many images and poetic devices in the video, as well as some themes. Stanza 3 shows the discriminatory attitude toward black people. Stanza 4 shows some ironies and contradictions within Puerto Rico and the U.S., and also highlights the stark difference between Puerto Rico and the countries around it. Stanza 7 says that Puerto Rico, while it appears to be free and prosperous, belongs to the U.S., and is in that sense worse off than the poorer countries around it.
To highlight the congrats between Puerto Rico and other Caribbean territories, as well as to dispell the illusion that Puerto Rico is as perfect and free as people think.
