I think you would have seen a more solid repair by first grinding the crack open a little more and filling it with a epoxy/resin mixture thickened with silica powder. After that, I'd apply the gelcoat and sand it into the appropriate shape rather than using plastic
good video. You could have even gone further by addressing the core damage issue. and maybe install the new fasteners in wet. Just my two cents. good vid. thanks for posting.
I dont recall seeing wax paper on the instructions. I will keep that in mind next time. The plastic provided worked for me on another repair, but stuck this time. I dont trust the one hour dry time. Ill give it an overnight in the future.
That shit is garbage, ive been in repairs and boat building 40+ yrs. First. I would of ground, prep, glass, then body work , then gel. This repair has done nothing for the damage inside. This repair will last 1 to 2 yrs. And i have never needed wet sanding . 320 600 rough.. Thats a touch up/'not a repair. But good try.
If the gelcoat doesn't set up and stays sticky. How do you remove it. Just sand it back off. My evercoat doesn't have wax so I covered it and let set for a day. Must of messed up the mix 😳. Thanks for any help
