I wish they hadn't cut the clip where they did. Bruno returns to Leo's office and Leo asks him 'How'd it go?' And Bruno replies 'Shut up' with a wry smile knowing he was played. Classic.

Leo: "Margaret, would you show Mr. Gianelli into the Oval Office, please?" Bruno: "Are you playing with me?" *Leo peers through his suddenly-on-because-he's-already-moved-on-to-other-things reading glasses over his binder-of-other-things in a way that screams "I am totally playing with you, and you are about to get played"* I love these actors. One forgets about Ron Silver. He died in 2009. The plain, bald fact is: He was one of the great American actors. In a very small group.

He comes in the office presented as the smarter guy predicting numbers after the mistake from Margaret. Second he does the transition he becomes a little player, we see that Leo knew every word he was gonna say. A great dialogue manipulation in order to show power

I love the way Jed Bartlett never offers b.s. If he doesn't want to respond directly -- as with Bruno's, "I was sorry about Dolores Landingham," -- he responds with a more relevant question to change the conversation.

He misquoted Exodus, leaving out “Who hath brought thee out of bondage in the House Of Egypt”, and you, TheNerdForAllSeasons, have blown the capitalization rules. FREX, it is “LORD” because it is the Tetragrammaton, the ineffable Name Of God, and has a whole Word (Commandment) dedicated to keeping it holy.

You have to understand the " respect" Americans have for their President - whoever it may be. Thus after the negotiations, the " argi-bargi" is completed whatever the President decides, that's it.
@jasonkoch3182
@jasonkoch3182 Год назад
@@michaelhayden725 that literally has nothing to do with anything in this scene. This was a scene designed to show just how much power Leo had, and just how willing the president was to let him use it. This was the president telling Bruno he could completely trust Leo, and that Leo already completely trusted Bruno.

Sadly, Kathryn Joosten passed away in 2012 at the age of 72. She worked up until her death despite an 11-year battle with lung cancer. She appeared in 87 episodes across all eight seasons of Desperate Housewives, the onscreen death of her character aired just twenty days before her own.

I love how his character misdirects people. When her hears about Joey Lucas, he asks if Joey is "the girl". He could have just been asking to see if there was a male Joey Lucas he was not aware of. However, his use of the term "girl" suggests she is not able to work at this level. When he confirms they are talking about the same pollster, he approves and says not only he had worked with her but said she was good. He might be brusque at times, but he respects talent.

This show is so real life. There are Tobys, Joshes, Brunos, and Sams...and there is next level. See, everyone I mentioned is frighteningly intelligent. They were winning debate awards at 12. They can recite the constitution and the bible in one fell swoop. Put them in a room with anyone and they can negotiate anything. But Bartlet is another level, and that is why none of the aforementioned could do his job. Toby would be a more well read Trump, only worse. Both of them are unapologetic and stick to their guns, but you can get in on Trump if you kiss his ass. You can’t do that with Toby, and that is bad because he thinks his way is the only way, and negotiations would grind to a halt. Josh is crazy smart, but highly neurotic, and takes losses very personally. A Leo would have a harder time bringing him back to earth. Sam has it all, but he’s only confident in the moment. Loses confidence so easily when he makes mistakes. Bartlet is next level. He doesn’t overreact very often, he listens to every side, negotiates with a willingness to give his opponent what they want, while not being afraid to ask for more(Toby would be horrible at this, as he thinks he can shame Republicans to switch sides), and while he has a healthy ego, he knows everyone around him, and his opponents, have their strengths. This is where the next level comes into play. A Bruno is child’s play to Jed because Bruno lives off emotion and ego 100 percent of the time. And we sort of have that in the White House here in the real world, but it’s more like 95 percent of the time with Trump(Talk of marijuana legalization for medicinal purposes, and prison reform is proof of what can be done when Jeff Sessions is out of the picture). Trump is what happens if Toby and Josh had a one night stand, had a kid, and that kid slept in class for 16 years straight, but learned everything from the mob. Same ego, same neuroticism, same temper...they are just well read and well spoken.
