WESTERN DIGITAL ROM MANIPULATION FOR DATA RECOVERY

We experiment with the 4TB Western Digital hard drive from the previous video. This drive was fully recoverable and the recovery had already been completed, but we wanted to show you some of the ways you can manipulate the ROM to get a drive functioning again. We install a compatible, yet incorrect PCB and see if we can recover the data from the drive. The head map from the new PCB is incorrect and the data is inaccessible, but we demonstrate how you can use PC3000 to activate an inactive head and get the drive functional again.
