We hit the road and head to Western Queensland for a big road trip and van shakeout toward Waltzing Matilda and dinosaur country. In part 1 we go to Chinchilla, Mitchell, Tambo and Barcaldine.
Welcome to @nextleveloz. We are David and Paula and we've bought our first ever caravan and we are shaking it out on some Queensland road trips in preparation for our Big Lap Gap Year around Australia.
This episode we hit the road and head to Western Queensland for a big road trip and van shakeout toward Waltzing Matilda and dinosaur country. In part 1 we go to Chinchilla, Mitchell, Tambo and Barcaldine.
We'd love it if you join us as we get used to our new van and tow car and learn the ropes of living in our mobile home. We expect we will make some mistakes along the way but we will also visit some interesting and beautiful places around our magnificent country.
In the next several episodes we shakeout the van in the Sunshine Coast, take a long road trip to the Waltzing Matilda and dinosaur country in Western Queensland, visit the magical Fraser Island and then our life changes and we get to kick off on a lap of Australia even earlier than we expected - after that, who knows where we will get to.
Please join us especially if you are thinking of doing the same, want to give us some tips along the way or are just interested to see what life on the road around Australia looks like for us. If our journey helps you that's great. Who knows you might also want to do the same thing yourselves, or just think we're crazy.
If you can, please like and subscribe we'd love it, if we get enough subscribers 100% of any ad revenue will go to charity.
Even though we have no issue for others doing it - and we've learned heaps from several other channels (thanks guys) in our case we aren't doing this for profit, we don't aim to be social media influencers and we don't have any sponsorships. This is an opportunity for us to take a break from the rat race, share our journey in a structured way with family, friends and anybody else out there who wants to follow our journey.
We welcome your constructive tips and comments (play nice please).

Thanks so much. We appreciate the feedback and want to get better at it and keep sharing (and hopefully in time can send some money to charity in the bargain). All the best thank you.

Thanks so much Gary. We appreciate the feedback. Now we need to identify what our editing style is 😉, so we can keep doing it. Like most we’ve seen what others do and what works for us so we will try to keep it going - but hopefully get better (and faster) as we go. We got a few good ones (we hope!) coming up as we catch up to real time. And if more people like you subscribe and watch we can do some good and send a couple of $$ off to charity as well. cheers

Watching your videos in reverse 😅 as the last one popped up on my home page. I’ve been following quite a few people to get ideas for our lap next January. We live on the Gold Coast and planning on doing a couple of Queensland circles this year to sort out the van (Snowy River 22S) I instantly got excited because although there are some great channels to watch, I think you’re just what I was looking for. I’m looking forward to your next one. How long ago did you do this actual trip?

That is awesome! Sorry for the delay, we've been in poor mobile reception for a couple of days. Yes, Queensland offers some great shake out opportunities. This Western Queensland Trip was three weeks. Brisbane - Chinchilla - Mitchell - Tambo - Barcaldine - Winton - Alpha - Emerald - Springsure - Carnarvon Gorge - Warra - Toowoomba - Brisbane. This included a few free camps, a few of caravan parks and Showground. So a good mix of camp types and terrific, different vistas.

Hi Andre thank you. Contact Wade Samin and the team on samin@samin.com.au and let them know you are interested in the Under Body Protection System (they are designed for ZoneRV vans but the team will put you in contact with the right people)

Hi it’s something like $900- $1000. I can’t get my invoice on my emails currently but contact the team at Samins admin@samin.com.au and ask and they will provide the most up to date info. They have modified the UBPS since we bought ours also

Really enjoying your insight in your videos- like you we are planning our first van trip. Random question - interested to know what brand and where did you get your fire pit?

Hi Natasha, thanks so much. The fire pit is from Drifta-Stockton.
