(12-29-2017) These were Westy but have been modded by Midwest Elevator. The hotel manager told me they were constantly having problems with the port so they ripped it out.

Andrew, I think you shoukd fully explain why they removed the PORT system in the Description. I'm mentioning that because of all the complaints.

I’m guessing since Schindler didn’t do the most recent mod, but at the same time, they’re still Schindler, I’m guessing the controller used w/ PORT is also compatible w/ non-PORT.

They changed it due to servicing issues. Schindler PORT is proprietary, so only Schindler can maintain it, & they were having a hard time getting Schindler there when they needed servicing, so they switched over to a local company, & they switched it over to something they could maintain.

Why would you modernize a Schindler Port into a normal elevator? The whole point of the Port was to eliminate crowding on the elevators. They still might be smarter than the first Schindler mod, but I still don’t get why they would do that

Another reason is probably because some whinny guests (and those who are not used to destination dispatch) did not know how to operate the PORT system.
