An outstanding video that contains a lot of hard earned and learned ways of hackling techniques. Thanks for taking the time to put together such great content.

Interesting hackleing technique video. I prefer a collar on my wets. It depends on my mood.

Eric, great tutorial! I found it very informative and helpful. Once I get my tying bench re-located I will be having some fun with this tutorial and hopefully generate some good questions for you. Wishing you and yours a very happy and healthy holiday season!

Eric, fantastic looking fly. Thank you for sharing with us. I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on the Rio Grande King wet fly? I live in Colorado and I have recently learned of it's reputation for being a heck of a fly here in Colorado where it was first tied around 1930 or so. Thank you.

I really like fishing wet flies and had trouble winging until I got a few tips from you. I’m no expert but securing the wing like you suggested in a previous video helped me tremendously. I was wondering if your better off to tie the throat in beard style. Do you think it’s easier to apply wet fly wings without the wound hackle all around the shaft of the hook? That way the tie off is not so bulky. Curious how your thinking goes.
@traditionalfliesanddries5962
@traditionalfliesanddries5962 2 года назад
It's very subjective. I agree that there's less bulk at the head not winding hackle. There's even less than that winding hackle in front of the wings, British style. The head virtualy disappears. I prefer wound hackle because I like the "cow catcher" loook, but there are tons of ways to skin a cat. Do what makes you happy and gives you confidence.

Awesome! On Alice’s fly was the hackle hen or rooster?
@traditionalfliesanddries5962
@traditionalfliesanddries5962 2 года назад
Adam it was some small hen hackle that Alice sent me several years ago. She dyed it with Dylon dye. Sorry for the slow response to your question, been having some computer problems. Think I've got them resolved.
