Chicago television during this time was exceptional. Local TV personalities were fantastic and there were a LOT of shows for kids.

Chicago was a major radio & TV production hub, because that's where the big soap companies and the slaughterhouses (providing the animal fats used in soap) were. The soap companies sponsored radio shows, particularly daytime dramatic serials. Which is why they're called "soap operas".

7:49 the iconic voice of Taylor Grant for TV Guide. His unique pronunciation of the word "guide" was classic!

And TVG used a different piece of background music before going to that electronic number a year or so after. In addition to the music change, the title card "On Sale Now" would end each spot instead of Taylor Grant's reading of that same line.

There is a bit more I can't recall, but it ended with something like "It's a cloth, it's a sponge, it's a mop. Viva never knows when to stop/ Oh you'll never believe a paper towel like Viva." (By the 1980's it was found to be a BAD idea to give Aspirin to children under 14 Y.O.) 2, Nestle's $100,000 bar ($633,508.64 in 2019,LOL!) had crunchy "things"?!?! McDonaldland had one hell of a crime rate in the 1970s. The Hamburglar stole burgers; Captain Crook stole fish sandwiches; the Evil Grimace stole drinks, and the Fry Guys stole fries. And the entire McDonaldland concept was stolen from the Kroffts, who were hired to design it, then fired by the ad agency, which then made minor changes to the designs and used them anyway. The Kroffts sued, and eventually won. That's why McDonald's dropped many characters in the late 1970s.
