Two Humpback whales took interest in our boat on the way to the Channel Islands off Santa Barbara, CA. They were amazingly gentle creatures and got extremely close to the boat, at one point touching it.
no its the realization of being a small ass human who isnt in control of the situation anymore from the moment the whale showed up it was the whale who decided who was gonna go home safe after the encouter
I would imagine that some incidents like this may be explained by past experiences of other humans helping in assisting whales from being entangled in nets and ropes etc. Not distinguishing one vessel from another they may be trying to express continual gratitude because actions by other caring humans who assisted rather than being afraid and or destroying these magnificent creatures. Research shows that these mammals have a long memory and reward incidents of kindness.
@@Hwishsj Absolutely yes. Just because your ignorance and religious idoctrination are at dangerous, pathetic, and embarrassing levels doesn't mean facts all of a sudden stop being true. Narcissistic fools like you make me sick, you and people like you are a driving factor for why the world is so bad off.
Wow! These whales are incredible! How easily they could overturn the boat with a mere flick of their fins, and yet they did not. Amazingly careful and gentle they are! That said, I confess that if it were me, I likely would have micturated for sheer fright!! The mammoth size of these wonderful animals, however much I love them, is certainly daunting--more so out in the middle of nowhere, in vast, opaque waters with no shore in sight!! :D
Lol. It’s intimidating as F but you were never in actual danger. What an amazing experience. It’s not rare at all for many species to come close and check you out and even play, but it’s kind of rare for whales to literally hang out with you. They were staying in place just goofing around basically. Really cool. 🤙🏻
Why is it people have such a problem with the talking? Okay, you prefer quiet but she's living this too close encounter. Allow for emotional vocalizing and, how about, you keep quiet - i.e. don't volunteer a comment.
In this case I agree with you, I didn't find her reactions annoying. But there are some animal encounter videos on RU-vid where the sound the person is making is absolutely frustrating... I just saw one of a man with his son on a kayak and a killer whale passes by and the man is laughing loudly and uncontrollably into the mic of the cam. It completely ruins the video.
ArgoX2007 I saw that one also. Yes he was pretty loud, I think it was more a scared laughter for him and his son. He probably didn't know how Orcas will react.
Get in the real world It's youtube fool, how bout you keep quiet unless your the youtube police- i.e. Don't volunteer comments- i.e. Hypocrisy, narcissism is worse than the youtube troll club...
I am in the real world. I'm not the RU-vid police and you're not the thought police. Nothing I've written has been hypocritical or narcissistic. People don't understand the intelligence of whales and it saddens me to see people react out of fear towards them. Pretty sure I'm aloud to say what I want and if I put up a video I would expect to hear all manner of things even if I don't like them or if I disagree.
Whales are some of the most intelligent and curious animals on the planet. It's such a shame that humans decimated 90% of them within the span of a couple hundred years.
Ole Kils , Your video is amazing! Thanks for sharing! You must have been terrified, evidently; but, at the same time it was probably one of, if not the most awesome thing you’ve experienced! 👌👍👏😍 ❤️
You shouldn’t have to apologize for YOUR video :) However, if you don’t mind, I do want to know what happened next?? Did y’all move the boat? Edit: Never mind I see you answered further down the comments. Cheers!!
Don't start that propeller with the whales so close. It probably wouldn't hurt rhem, but it might cut just a little, and it would just be a sh!tty thing to do. The guy seemed to know this. Why didn't she?
just had this in my recommendations, amazing to see, l like the comment you made when the whales went under the boat ' he's on the boat' l think it was the other way round, you were on the whale. Whale surfing... what an experience. They are so gentle, never aggressive, if they had upturned your boat it would have been by accident. These incredible creatures know what they are doing. This is one encounter you will never forget. l truly envy you.
I really loved the video. Also liked that she was freaking out a little bit I would’ve too. Makes you feel like you’re there. I would’ve not turned on the boat in fear of the propeller cutting into one of the whales though. I would’ve just waited it out.
Dude. If a tiny fish grazes my ankle while I'm swimming in a lake, I get out and run 146km inland. This thing brushing my inflatable?! 😳 I'll see you on Mars, bud!
Crazy experience, alot of people say they are saying hello and things all positive. But imagine they are saying please move you're boat we don't want it in our home.
WOW! Thanx to U For sure A Beautiful 🌊❤️🌊🐳precious honey! 🙌 Magnificent Whales! We ALWAYZ will treasure! ♥️ Of Our Mighty gorgeous OCEANS! GREAT ! UR SO CARING! THANKS FOR SHARING AMO!
A well-unknown fact is whales have fine, comb-like plates made of a fibrous material called baleen through which they can chew and swallow small boats.
I live in Alaska and know of a sport fishing guide that had a boat that was rammed and sunk by a whale. Crazy stuff. You of course can’t believe everything a fisherman says but he was dead serious and doesn’t waffle on his story and truly lost a boat. Jody is the fishing guide and he works out of Whittier. Crazy to think about.
lmao okkk????? she was just getting nervous and probably a little scared, you can hear it in her voice. she wasn’t overly panicking or being irrational
To showcase just how gentle they are. There's footage out there from the early 1900rds which shows them being hunted in Australia. There's a really heartbreaking moment after one had been harpooned, it sticks its head out of the water almost as if to say “Why did you shoot me?”
They were just curious about the boat. I always thought it was scary seeing things that big under water even if it's a sunken ship just something about things that big barely visible under water is scary
Fantastic clip. Is'nt it funny the noises humans make when they're crapping themselves!? 'Ooh its rolling..' reply.....'Yeah, now tickle my tum fore i swamp ya..!'
Amazing experience but you were never in danger. We took our 15ft boat out of depoe bay one year all of a sudden we had 4 whales around our boat and one pushed us around for awhile
@@SirenaSpades because whales are not stupid. You may feel like your in danger but they are gental giants. It can get scary and overwhelming but no danger.
