Humpback Whale Visits our Boat in SE Alaska!!! 

About 20 years ago, i took my family on a whale watch off the coast of Marshfield, Mass. A humpback started rubbing his belly on our boat causing it to rock and another surfaced right next to the boat so close that i was able to reach over and pet it on the head and talk to it. It was a full grown male. He was so curious and gentle and after a minute or so he just slipped back under the waves and disappeared.

I always marvel at how cautious and gentle humpbacks (most whales) are around humans...its like they know how fragile we are and how strong they are and they take extra care not to hurt us when they are around us.

Wow! Where do I begin????? Okay, I wanna thank these lovely people, for sharing this super amazing experience with us! This video is in my top five (5) favourite whale videos, because it contains my second favourite of all great whales, The Humpback, and this is the largest animal of it’s kind I’ve ever seen, whether in pictures, videos of this nature or documentaries; what a *Brobdingnagian/titanic* creature????? And a rather beautiful one, is he! It never ceases to amaze me, how such a ginormous being can be ever so graceful, cautious and gentle towards us; knowing fully well, it’s strength and possible damage/danger, so it feeds it’s curiosity with much benevolence and altruism, even at times, taking much shorter exhalations, so as to not scare or spray the visitors too much; until they’ve somewhat formed a level of trust/a bond, then it eases into it’s usual trumpeted 🐳 blows, with welcoming twirls, playful sprays and splashes, and majestic pec and 🐋 tail slaps. Oh, the wonders and awesomeness of nature! I love whales, I can’t get enough of them! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💝💝💝💝💝💘💘💘💘💘💖💖💖💖💖💓💓💓💓💓

Pretty much to impossible to identify a single whale without seeing underneath, and knowing what to look for! The females are typically bigger but obviously without another there to compare, hard to tell - if you're not already familiar with the fluke (tail) pattern. So, maybe it was a he, but maybe not ;)

You ever get the feeling in a lot of these whale clips, that they want to be touched or have their barnacles taken off?
