Whale sightings have increased over the past few years, but close encounters between the mammals and Puget Sound boaters are causing concern for environmentalists. www.king5.com/article/tech/sc...
I agree!..she was very annoying with her high pitch screams. If you want to scream like that stay home & watch from your television..but don't ruin others experiences with non-stop screaming & screeching.
With my little time boating in the sound I've seen these vessel do circles(yes at a distance) around the whales chasing them down and frightening the other sea creatures as well. Maybe they can be viewed remotely not counting the waist of fossil fuels. I could be wrong just my opinion... 🐋
It wasn't people, it was just that one stupid MAGA boomer who was ruining it for everyone on board, the same way that same woman would ruin anything for any group of people. Too bad she didn't die before that boat ride.
I'm wandering if those other passengers would have enjoyed the trip more without all the loud yelling and disrespectful noises of the Florida passengers. there is a wonderful peace in just being able to watch the whales in quiet appreciation. it ruins it for others if we are too loud and I doubt whales like the noise
And to think I spent decades working in Grays Harbor and watched whales, including Orcas regularly come into the harbor to hunt for food. And on the land side of my worksite I watched elk, deer, peregrine falcons, gyrfalcons, bald eagles, snowy owls and multiple other animals. I should have ran tours on my lunch break to make extra cash!
Thankfully the one I went on didn't have any obnoxious people on it. Think I would have thrown her overboard. Totally unnecessary to be screaming like that.
I kayak off Owens beach. Saw a grey breach once. Haven't seen orca yet but plenty of cell phone clips of them playing with/checking kayaks out in the sound. . Florida lady would have a heart attack in a kayak with one 5ft away.
also during sex, when mc donalds gets her salad order right, an when dollar tree has an item for half price she wants? an also when you tell her to be quiet. cause im sure she wouldn't do that if she wasn't allowed her whole life
Honestly I grew up up there and I always felt like the whole Puget Sound etc should just be a marine wildlife sanctuary. I know it's not likely possible (my parents are both from Tacoma and my grandpa was a shipbuilder) but still, I just kinda wish we didn't upset all those critters with the engine noise and pollution and whatnot. Glad to see they're still thriving somehwat, though! Good custodianship ethics up there.
I call bs. Whales should be for everyone to enjoy not just politically connected so called "marine biologists" that uses there titles and political connections to exert privilege. Not for any scientific gain but for a personal one.
@@mattb8754 wanting to personally use whales? Animals are not playthings, creep, we're long past an age where we should be killing them for any reason.
Not exactly thriving, just an improvement from the downward trajectory they’d been on before. The resident orcas only eat salmon, chinook if I remember correctly, whose numbers have reduced by some insane %… you’d think they would eat some of the seals or sea lions like the transient ones do, but nope.. they’ll starve if they can’t find enough salmon. Anyway, a couple years ago there were 2 babies that died not long after they were born so it was looking pretty bad, so any improvement at this point is a win.
Yes! I also feel that there should be more restrictions on new housing developments. So much forest is lost to new houses being built for the masses of people who are moving into the area. It's just heartbreaking. Other states that don't have gorgeous nature like WA are much more strict about new constructions. Why not WA, which has so much to lose?
The whale watching companies there do much for protection of whales and they are the first to get pissed and make calls when people behave dangerously. They're often the ones who report the idiots on jet skies, like the one on the video
I was sitting on my boat off south Maury Island drinking a beer and watching the sunset back in the 90`s and out of nowhere a pod of killer whales surfaced about 20 yards away sacred the living sheet out of me lol I was on a 16 foot speed boat all alone it was a freaky experience. They just kept going heading south. I will never forget that though.
I used to stay on Day Island Tacoma i remember seeing about 4 all swimming together really close to maybe 10yards from shore it was breath taking. 20years ago and i still remeber it like yesterday beautiful animals.
StUnInG MoMeNt.!!💕🐋💕🐳💕 @dorable Spiecie 🙏🙏🙏 They're Be Born To Be F R E E.!!! 🙌 Thanks Captain for this Amazing Trip. Can some one tell me Where Is This Beautiful Trip and Experience Please??
Tourist just to see whales 🐋..? Now what would happen if the don’t spot a whale at all throughout the whole trip, noe wouldn’t that be a waste of money for those viewers lool idk me personally I feel bad for these mammals they should be left alone if u personally ask me An I’m actually happy that the Orca population is growing
Yes! I am perfectly happy watching David Attenborough document them, I know I wouldn't want another species coming into my home watching me and making noise.
Along the Central Coast in California, from Baja to Alaska these tour companies know the migration routes and helicopters fly and spot them and tons of these boats go out... I've been on my SUP and seen a humpback within twenty yards or so... I quickly sat down and held my breath in all and silent appreciation. These boats will actually skim closer and closer to the whales just so the tourists can get a selfie or even reach down and try to touch a whale. Same as 19th century shooting of elephants in my book. Do the whales die from a shot from a bullet? No. But migration interference and the noise and the chaos will chase them into other regions. Silly tourists, just buy a postcard.
"in all" Oh my god. Is THAT what you think people have been saying your entire life? IN ALL? like someone being "in all" of something? Please tell me that's not true. Please tell me you've read at least ONE book in your life. Dear God.
Whales are federally protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and its illegal to even get within 100 yards of them, so I can’t see a bunch of tour boats routinely getting close enough to touch them lol. They’d lose their license real fast… and this was signed into law in the 70s.
LOL SMDG. Anytime I encounter animals while paddleboarding or kayaking, I freeze and allow the animals to move how the want & hope they don't see me as competition or a threat
The girl that saw her spirit animal, her happiness is contagious. So happy she made me happy thru the TV. Margaret Brie of Florida was the girl. Peace & Happiness to you Margaret. Om.
oh you mean when the feds suspend conservation standards so the tribes can get in touch with their profound tribal roots by shooting whales while flashy wearing hip hop outfits
Everyone is so sensitive about the whales. Yeah the women screeching is annoying but I doubt it scaring the whale. They’re killers and are tough. Also seeing them from shore is unlikely and people want to see whales.
no one wants to hear her. irl no one would go around someone screaming like that. i assumed right away she does that cause shes probably alone an every free stick of gum or 50 cent off coupon she finds is her only enjoyment
