If you consistently did NOT call that charging penalty all season, why in the blue hell would you call it all of a sudden?

K reider, who scored all three of his goals in succession in the final frame, became the third player in NHL history to record a third-period hat trick that included a series-clinching goal, joining Jake Guentzel in Game 6 of 2018 First Round and Jack Darragh in Game 5 of 1920 Stanley Cup Final.3 hours ago

That Petterson penalty was confounding for sure. I read the rules, the rule does mention jumping, but also mentions if you are going towards the target. The spirit of the rule seems to me that if you are jumping into someone in conjunction of traveling towards someone at excessive speeds. However the jumping specific part is a little abigious, might need to update the rule book after that one, cuz it seems like a whole lot of bullshit. Elliotte was saying call it interference, I mean how can they call it interference then Petterson was stationary and he was going to be hit. Glad the Canucks could over come that call, I would suck to loss on one like that.

Even if the Pettersson peno is legally correct by the law of the land ... that's an action that should not be penalized AT ALL. The Edmonton player is the one who engaged and initiated contact! The player being hit should be able to do anything they want short of high sticking or sucker punching the oncoming player to defend themselves. It's just a BAD rule if it even is one. Take it out.

All the "reverse hits" IMO are hitting someone who doesn't have the puck, i.e. Interference. If it's ok to hit someone chasing the puck carrier, why not allow pick plays?
@the5thlineplaymaker131
@the5thlineplaymaker131 14 дней назад
@@thomasbrown9402Because the guy laying the reverse hit has the puck. A pick play would be a player without the puck impeding a defender. Reverse hit, the player has the puck. You can’t interfere with someone if you have the puck, unless it’s the goalie.

@ggeraldsoriano 14 дней назад
Well aren't you the pessimistic one. This was the best game he has played in weeks. I thought he was passing well. Held on to the puck longer and wasnt scared of using his skill. Or do you just want to be negative after a win like that?
@richardlefaive1944
@richardlefaive1944 14 дней назад
@ggeraldsoriano I was quite happy with the win. I thought the entire team played their best game of the playoffs. I just thought the poster was a little over the top in their praise of Pettersson. He played well, but he was still off his best and ... he DID narrrowly miss 3-4 wide open players over the course of the game + failed to score on a couple good opportunities. To me, it looks like he's still squeezing his stick tight when shooting and lacking his usual confidence. This all has him still slightly "off it" IMHO. Trust me, if he really finds his groove, you'll notice the difference.

The oiler committed to the hit and petterson reversed it. The only question would be the jump up.
@Xyy2387
@Xyy2387 14 дней назад
He can jump UP. It's considered charging if he jumps INTO. And that's getting super granular and pedantic. Players are allowed to brace for a hit. The call was horseshit. Let's try and remember this is the playoffs in a professional men's league.

@Furens
@Furens 14 дней назад
Not sure it matters in the rule book, but Petersson did not "hit a player who doesn't have the puck". He reverse hit the guy trying to hit him while playing the puck. I am not sure ow the NHL should deal with these. Calling the rule as strictly as last night essentially penalizes a player protecting themselves from an incoming hit.
@bigturkgaming76
@bigturkgaming76 14 дней назад
The only thing I can think of is that Pettersson left his feet to make the hit. Which is a penalty.
@Xyy2387
@Xyy2387 14 дней назад
@bigturkgaming76 You're allowed to jump UP when bracing for a hit. It's "technically" a penalty if you jump INTO a player. That's getting super granular and pedantic, which is why these reverse hits are never called. To call that a charging penalty in a playoff game is absurd.

on Marek's comments regarding the Soucy Goal, I guarantee you Pickard did not see the release. Soucy pulled it across the skates of the defender and as Pickard moves his head to the left to get a view the shot is released and he doesn't pick it up until it's in flight. I can tell you as a goalie myself, even at a low level of play, the speed of the puck in flight is near impossible to actually react to; it's all about gaugiung the release point. I'm a Canucks fan and don't really have a preference on this but i'd say Pickard has looked much more solid than Skinner thus far. Skinner might have a higher ceiling... but mannn he definitely has a lower floor.
