Very god job Vincenzo, I wanna leave my opinion also in English, I hope this will help the channel have more followers. In my opinion both are great speakers but this is what I thought while listening: I image myself to be in a professional studio recording, one side of the glass there is the band playing and the other side there is control room with mixer and monitor . Evo sound's more to me like being in the control room, listening the band as the final mix will be, Denton sounds more to me like being in the live room, I can feel the natural sound of the instruments, even the groove change to me .... so as a musician I like it more ! Hope this make sense ! Anyway, you had fun in doing the video and we have fun in listening. Very helpful thank you Vincenzo
Beautiful comparison and excellent demo vincenzo, you are great. I prefer the evos, as they are more refined for the tewteer amt, for me they are them.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. They both sound great, and more similar than I’d expect. I’d probably take the Dentons due to the old-school and compact design, which is starting to grow on me listening to all these demos people are doing. Plus, they are $200 cheaper, and I have heard (don’t know if true) that the 4.2 tends to be a little “beamy”. Wharfedale is really rolling out great stuff, though.
Hi friend, thank you first of all. Yes, that's right, the dentons sound better for me and many others, they are great speakers with a good dynamic range, and I tell you they go down well even in the bass, a very good value for money. Thanks again friend, I was pleased.
I like the sound of both speakers. However the Dentons have kept up with the Evos and did so without a midrange driver! They also garnered the most votes in this contest. I like the look of the Evos. I love the look of the Dentons more. One can't go wrong with either of these glorious speakers. The Dentons, however would be the ones for me!
I would take either of these speakers because they both perform impressively, for me it would come down to eye candy and the Dentons are clearly my choice in that respect !!
@@hoobsgroove Hello my friend, thank you for your thoughts. These speakers are a miracle of sound for what they cost, everyone says it, the sound is truly remarkable. They are more live than the evos, they are more refined.
Hi friend, thank you for your thoughts. In fact, many have said it, right observation friend, the denton sounds much more natural, more live, open, and a nice speaker for the price it costs.
Ciao
I have the Denton 85’s paired with a Denon 1600ne integrated amp (140W) and SVS SB-2000 Pro subwoofer (sealed @ 550W). Absolutely love the rich, smooth and full sound of these bookshelves!! Mainly listen to Jazz. The D85’s excel at mid-range clarity and tonality of instruments (drums, guitars, double bass, string bass, saxophone, trumpet, piano, etc). Set-up in 16’x22’ family room. Can play loud/clear/controlled to 95dB (meter placed 3’ in front of speaker) and reach 85dB max @ center listening chair 16’ away. Sounds good at mid & low listening levels, too. Love these D85’s, pure musical bliss every time I turn my 2.1 channel system on!! PS: For streaming, suggest the BlueSound Node. Two reasons .. Can use the Node’s “sub-out” to connect to a subwoofer, which many amps/integrated amps are lacking. Also can use its “optical-out” to connect to a better sounding external DAC. Note: I connect Node’s optical-out to the internal DAC on my Denon 1600ne amp (Burr Brown chip, PCM 1795). It’s smother/fuller sounding than the Node’s internal DAC!
I have the EVO 4.2 connected to an Audiolab 6000A play amp, also a wonderful combination. I love the Evo's 4.2. (off topic) But for me the winning combination are the Lintons connected to a Leak Stereo 230, which I also have 🙂
Contradictingly I went to buy a pair of Evo 4.2 to pair with Quad Vena 2 play yesterday. Well, I find that the bass wasn’t satisfactory, wonder will a power amp helps? Do u have any recommendations. Thanks and Cheers! 😎
@@kelvinkelvin1335 Hi friend, sure, I had the quad vein, but it was small, not very dynamic and satisfying, it was a 50w at the end, I would go on an audiolab 8300, very refined x le evo, if you want warmth to the music an advance acustic a10, or a roksan k3, this is very fast and dynamic as an amplifier, I would tell you to take a look at it, all good reviews, in my opinion and he does it for you, the evos want power, and the roksan has a lot of it.
Saša Arandjelović I would like you to tell me, if you are able, your opinion, Wharfedale EVO 4.2. Or Wharfedale Linton. Which sounds better, I'm not sure which one to buy.I'm listening to this now and it sounds fantastic, I've never heard such a good recording on RU-vid. Greetings.
Appreciate your video however a speakers sound is totally dependent on the associated equipment that is driving those speakers! Would have been nice to list which brand equipment you were using to make these comparisons! Prime example I have a Naim Nait 5si and if paired with a simple cheap pair of Elac B6 2.0 makes those speakers sizzle! They become double their value, but when using some cheap electronics i.e. an off the shelf receiver they are nothing special!
Hello friend, thank you for your thoughts. For these tests I used a Vincent SA-32 hybrid preamplifier, an Advance Acoustic XA160 evo power amp, an smsl m400 dac. You too have an excellent amplifier, the naim pushes very well.😘
Hi friend, thank you for your thoughts. Absolutely not, mom I use sub, the sound is only the direct one of the speakers. Not bad right? For what they cost and a miracle.
Hello friend, good morning, yes, in a way yes, feed them good recordings, and you will see that they will pay you back they are excellent speakers I recommend them.
Can you play some other track please?[electric blues or blues rock]I am interested in both of them but have not heard them on a real A-B demo .Thanks in advance .Greetings from Athens,Greece.
@@Vincenzo.M Thanks for your immediate response Vincenzo. You see, i am planning to buy a nice sounding pair of standmounters to pair with my U.R Unico amplifier and i have ended up in these two .I am looking forward to your demo .Stay safe .
@@Vincenzo.M Good morning. I said ''standmounters''=standmount speakers , not the stands for the speakers !!!!! it's o.k my friend .The speakers matter in our case !!!
Denton seems a more controlled overall soundstage.i have noticed both speakers are well out into the room.any thoughts on how they perform closer to a rear wall?
Hi friend and thank you for your opinion.yes, in fact the teeth do not sound more natural and more òlive, I like to buy these speakers.well, they are quite easy to place, you have no problems near the walls, the bass is always well checked and you have no queues. so go quiet if you have little space.
Hello. If we take shelf acoustics for comparison: denton 85, evo 4.2, linton85, kef q 350, b&w 606 s2, diamond 12.2, q-acoustic 3030i, dynaudio emit 10.20, monitor audio silver 100, dali oberon 3, canton gle 20 what would you choose for yourself (some models were in personal use) to listen to rock, heavy rock (metallica) and if you can specify the nuances. With great respect.
Hello friend, unfortunately I don't know the speakers mentioned among you and I have tried them, I can only tell you that for me the Dentons sound more live, they have a more lively and open sound, while the Evos are more closed, but more refined in tall.
the difference is quite evident live, the dentons are no longer live, while the evos are a little more closed, as if they sounded more muffled, for me the denton have a richer and more dynamic sound.
@@PurpleDreki yes yes, I understood, I don't use sub woofers, they're the only ones playing, let's say that having a little treated room, you perceive the bass better, but I repeat, no sub😘
hello friend, thank you for your thoughts. So, everyone has their say on everything, and we are okay, but I also say that it always depends on the electronics that one matches nearby. let's say a tad bit they are, but nothing to worry about. they sound good in the price range.
@@Vincenzo.M No prob. You may post it to UK HiFi group on FB. They'd like to see Wharfdales. Evo 4.4 is considered a bestseller in 2020. They'd like to hear Evo.
hello friend, thanks for your thought. Yes, the teeth do not sound more open, I like them more too, they have that effect more live, alive .. have a good day.
