#NBA #Mavericks #Luka Luka Doncic and the Mavericks have started slow with Kyrie Irving on the team. Many people are pointing to their 27 point meltdown to the Lakers but something is going on with Luka that has people really worried.
@@roidavidfrancisco2793 That don’t mean shit when he doesn’t give effort on the defensive side and his ego/attitude makes it worst, he’s always complaining to the refs when he “thinks” he got fouled and instead of getting back on defense
According to Phil Jackson , the only time Shaq took his training and conditioning seriously was his MVP season in which he was an unstoppable force. Imagine if he’d trained like that his whole career
People are saying Kyrie is the problem with the Mavericks. This obviously isn't true. The Mavericks just got to stop selling and adjust and play hard the whole game.
Hes knows he gets lighter he would lose his biggest advantage to get to paint for easy lay up or fouls. Hes an average or below average mid range and three point shooter. He cant defend. HIis passing is elite because of his size
I’m looking at what’s going on with Luka and Zion and thinking why don’t they remember what happened to Shaq. The same thing with Jalen Carter in the NFL. We have these examples of what not to do but people still make the same mistakes.
People eat like shit all the time. More than half the western world is overweight, and they know they should eat better but don't - Luka just happens to be extremely talented at basketball.
All about will power, if you want to be the best you sacrifice all that stuff you enjoy. Unfortunately this level asks you to sacrifice everything normal people have (millions of dollars helps but I'd still not trade it)
It's just lack of ambition. Look at Kobe and Giannis for contrast. They really want/ed to be the very best. Always training to be better than yesterday. You can also see when shaq got more serious in the lakers when he wanted to win. And it worked out with a 3peat. Then he just felt that was good enough and laid back again, were as Kobe kept going. I'm no star but I get them. Cruising the league, getting paid millions... who wouldn't? Maybe Luka one day wakes up wanting a championship and goes ham
Weight affects stamina, possibility of injury, injury recovery, etc. Luka's 24, so he'll be ok for now, but things can turn ugly few years down the line.
Exactly, he needs to lose weight so he can improve his athleticsm if he wanna last long. Luka already showed signs of improvement on the defensive end of the ball,by losing weight, he can easily become a good defender.
I think part of it is that Luka does not take the NBA seriously because the game here isless about actual basketball than the Eurobasket which he clearly cared more about (he got in his best shape for it)
Most early 20's guys feel like they're invincible and can play and party. Great players that were like this in their early 20's figure it out by their late 20's or sooner, and if Luka is great, he will too.
I'm not 30 yet but damn... I'm starting to see it. I mean, still young and lots of energy but things I did younger really makes me go damn, I really went hard. Straight up used my lifespan partying lmao
@@gabriel-5369 in a couple years you'll be the same age as the injury plagued dinosaurs and retirees in the league, and you'll understand why Enjoy your next few years
Completely agree about Luka not changing and continuing to be who he is... He's taken years to form his HABIT of complaining after every no-call... That's a habit that is so ingrained in his on court personality that it will likely never change. As far as being in shape, that will yoyo every season, both in and off season. He had a chance at being the GOAT, but unless he commits to changing it will not happen
This is great! I literally came to the comments to say that your posts brighten up my day! I get excited when I see the thumbnail. Great to see it impacting Liam too.
Same Bro. Now do a Video on our 3×MVP lol after he took his health serious and Lost weight. He came back a little thinner and More aggressive. Plus Morris woken the Beast in him too
It really does, I don't know why his videos are so entertaining but something about the way he puts it together is perfect. There's nothing on youtube I looks forward to more then when I see his thumbnails amd can't tell its am Hoops right away from it.
He needs to learn to play off ball and stop to complain to refs and to get his killer mentality like he had back in Real Madrid. This kind of behavior is translating on other players and he is starting to look like Harden in his days during Houston. Other than all of this, Luka is generational player and for sure future HoF but he needs to make some changes until it gets too late. We can see Harden is pretty much ok in Philly
Actually mind blowing how Kidd still is the coach. Christian Wood is not great defensively but hes so much better offensively than the other bigs. Why is Dwight Powell even getting playing time?
@@ry_an. Powell is the appendix of the Mavs. Doesn't serve any purpose at all but when he's off his game the entire team is affected greatly. About as much of a net negative as you can get.
It takes a different kind of dedication to treat your body correct. This is one thing I hold lebron in high regard. It’s hard to be filthy rich and not eat outta control, hit the gym when u don’t want too. Luka has got to get that under control and always give effort on both ends. He came into the season in great shape and I’m sure it’s hard when ur grinding through the season but that’s what separates players.
Luka is like Damian, they are both similar in a certain way involve scoring so much to try bringing their team to victory, In my mind I asked “What would happen if Luka and Damian Teamed Up?” I love how you make these videos just to make me interested
As a mavs fan i couldn't agree more with most of everything you said. Luka has problems, some will be resolved with maturity, some never will. But the real problem here is Jason Kidd. Dude thinks he is running some kind of education institution.
Exactly it’s just the way he’s built. He plays more than anyone year round. He never stays home to rest and work out during the summer, he plays every damn Slovenia euro tournament there is. He is in shape, just not a physical specimen in our eyes. And he knows how to use it. When he makes winning a ring his prime goal he will stop the euro shit ( except Olympics) and work for his goal all year. That’s what Dirk finally did and it won him a chip.
@@blakefrancisboggs7526 word. There s people in pick up games which are not necessarily overweight but chubby and you do not see any muscles. And they score like crazy, play one game after the other and I am exhausted with 80kg on 184cm after one game. I do play lockdown defense though. Maybe I should stop going too hard on defense
it's just how he's built. idk what's wrong with being big like his size gives him a hige advantage at the paint. He literally got pushed and bullied during his rookie year. We can say he should get skinny if his game is affected but he has elevated his game in every year and this year its on another level. so what's wrong with this?
Comparing Luka to Lebron James isn’t that far off! They both yell at the refs , they both are good players, but the one thing separating him and LBJ is Lebron’s rings awards and achievements at his age…
Luka is so physical the refs really don't know how to call fouls for him. This causes a lot of inconsistencies that I'm sure are frustrating. I think in the next 2 years we will see him mature as he realizes the constant arguing doesn't help his team win and that he needs to be focused on defense. When he chooses to lock in on defense he isn't bad.
everyone needs to remember where luka came from. hes from the balkans and its completely different (from personal experience). you start smoking cigs at an early age, drink beer because the drinking age isnt enforced or strict, and just like having a good time with friends. but i dont necessarily agree with how hes carried himself through the season. hes a great player who has potential for greatness but his mind is elsewhere at times
I have never hear orvred some more stupid than the comment of the dude that you respond because I cant reply to him,at balcans kids are smoking and drinking wery young!!!????? Hahahaha because in scooll when you have history class, they tell you so much lies bout the balcan that you dont even 0.000000001percent what the real balcan is,and im not saying just for this comment about drinking and smoking but every other I literaly can say it is same with some myths, something that dont exiat and its not by miles close with the truth...and I will took djokovic for example I think of him certanly most of you hate him because he is from the balcan!!!!come on people whatts wrong with you what do you think balcan is?we are not diferent from any other region, and pretty sure we are more kindles from the big rest of the other countries!understand this in way that you wnt but thas the truth
that's literally just stereotypes bestie, Slovenia is mostly not like the rest of the Balkans in this aspect. esp the parts of Slovenia Luka is coming from. besides he went to Spain when he was 13, so yuh ur claims are baseless and sheding a bad light for no reason
I haven't seen Luka play much this year but I did see the Mavs vs. Suns on Sun. I was shocked by Luka's size so I looked up his weight...218 lbs. Yeah, maybe with one foot on the scale.
Luka talent is so so so fking DEEP but a guy like him need a whoole experienced team coach, and a professional private coach basicly to control most of what he do at most of the time... Cuz as what i saw he want to win and at some point mostly off season he's wwilling to put in the work but not in the season meaning he does need a personal coach not on just basketball terms
Funny, just saw Liam R's post below....I literally came to the comments to say that your posts brighten up my day! I get excited when I see the thumbnail.
@@bamf6603 it's a team sport , one for all all for one ... That is how athletes are raised in Europe ... Usa might be different , more self obssesed and egocentrical
luka great from the moment he first entered the nba and that is why he thinks didnt needed to improve his game further . he is a great player but not the best.
Can I just say that his “mentality “ has been praised his entire career up until this season, where now that the team is struggling everyone is pointing out his flaws? No one gets mad until the team struggles, then suddenly everything is a problem. Can Luka get more mature and work out more? Yeah. Is his career already doomed? No.
His complaining has definitely not been praised. Nobody likes watching star players do that, the Celtics do it badly. But your last two sentences, yeah.
I think Kidd is actually justfied in saying that he's just watching. He actually never actually said anything that was saying that he wasn't responsible for the loss. He knows what he is doing and it is just part of his coaching style. He wants to push the Mavs to become better at fixing their own problems on the court. They can't keep relying on him to bail them out with a timeout, especially with how bad their defense is. They need to get better at fixing it themselves. Jason Kidd is a great coach, the Mavs actually have the #1 scoring team when coming straight from a timeout, which shows that when Jason Kidd calls timeouts, the players execute the plays correctly, and that the plays he draws up are really good. I'm a Mavericks fan and I trust Jason Kidd.
@@ajgraham1523 he actually plays josh green alot. although I do not understand why Christian Wood does not start or play more. I have heard that Christian Wood has some attitude issues so that could play a big role. we have no idea what goes on in practice so its kind of unfair for us to judge him for that, but I do wish he would play wood more
Luka have a very bad work ethics. He still young, but than he be near 30,it will costs a lot of traumas.During the Olympics he and he's teammates one day before games drink vodka (it was Sayed for make team chemistry better..).Maybe he is a very talented player, but if he will not changes he's work ethic,he will not unlocks he's full potential
So cool that you hang your entire life on one series that the Mav's won ONE MORE GAME than the Sun's did. Just what happened to the Mav's in the next series. What's your record since you got Kyrie? It's okay he'll be gone soon.
The change in Doncic's shape in just a couple of weeks was shocking to me, his face and body blow up so fast. Last 2 weeks have when he looked the worse.
@A.M. Hoops I've noticed your last 2 or 3 vids haven't come up in my subscription feed - this is happened with another NBA channel i subscribe to as well. It's weird because out of all of my subscriptions your channel's one of the few where i watch every video you drop - but yeah, I've had to go looking for them & i just double-checked - this video's not in my feed. thanx for the videos anyway - they're great!!
Yep idk what Dallas’ GM was thinking. Kyrie is the last guy I would trade assets for, especially when he’s not even under contract for more than a few months
@@mrfeastasheesh6928 Nah, you should look it up, as far as I know, due to the lack of evidence, they filed the case. Ja told one story and the kid told another, what we know for sure, is that he actually pulled a gun, Ja said it was for self defense, and the kid said they were beating him up badly and that Ja kept threatening him with the gun.
He should hang out with Jokic over the summer so my man can show him the virtues of self discipline. Jokic is probably one of the few people Luka looks up to.
I said this when luka came into the league. If he wanted to he could be the all time leading scorer and be one of the top 5 greatest players of all time if he wanted to. These are the years where Giannis was gaining double digit muscle in the off season
He comes in shape because he is not out on the road and probably eats better. But during season he is probably eating all the great stuff in every town. He will grow out of it.
You the same type who said he peaked his rookie season then he peaked his 2nd season and 3rd season and 4th season and now he’s peaked in his 5th season. You want to get ahead of the curve now and say he’s hit his peak in his 6th season? Y’all don’t even know what peak means he has developed and improved every single season and has added something new every year and gotten better every year y’all just want to hate on him and say he’s “peaked” y’all don’t even know what that means and can’t explain it. Nobody knows what Luka’s peak is because if he gets his free throws to 80% or better he’d be averaging 36-37ppg easily, if he improves his 3p% to about 38-40 he’s easily adding another 4-6 ppg on his scoring, if he works on just his defense he can be a good defender in the NBA due to his size and IQ, if he continues to work on bettering his shot selection and more post/ mid range game he can boost his FG% up to 52-54% especially with how impossible he is to stop driving to the hoop and his craftiest. Shit he can get his body back into when he was in the bubble and adds more athleticism to his game and become even more impossible to stop. You are a casual if you think he’s peaked or peaking it has nothing to do with stats or numbers it’s his overall game. Don’t speak about basketball ever again.
@@joesutherland9354 Aint got sh*t to do with hate... and speaking of casual- u play pro ball earning a living playing ball? .. thats waht i thought... look- iof he gets better.. great if he doesnt he s still great... but thats a lot of ifs you mentioned... so chill out bro
Great analysis. I think bad management is the main problem. Luka is problem number 2. Kidd is not the problem. No one can couch a bad team to a championship.
That’s kinda crazy to me when basketball players say they dont even watch basketball. Like free opportunity to see how your competition is doing but you’re like nah.
As a mavs season ticket holder, I agree with everything. Lukas is frustrating, extremely naturally talented but lacks work ethic compared to past and current superstars. He doesn’t hustle on d, doesn’t move without the ball. Maybe having kyrie will inspire him
What happened was he moves slower.. with wow factor.. Kyrie Moves lightening fast.. maybe too many players traded and than becomes hard to adjust... than another thing is the entire defense is compromised
