Having a grown son with Asperger’s syndrome (high functioning autism) I’ve always thought Jimmy had it too; the hallmark odd social skills yet always very intelligent & talented. His brain processed things in a way we cannot comprehend. To him Paul was a man who put his pants on 1 leg at a time like everyone else- though I think he knew he had the gig of a lifetime. He died of a heroin OD still had the needle in his arm. What a tragic waste.
No he didn't die from heroin and he didn't have a needle in his arm. He wasnt known as a hard drug user. There weren't needle marks on his arms. He died of alcohol poisoning, with morphine in his system. No drugs were found in his apartment, though its possible his brother cleaned them up. He had a blunt still between his fingers. He was also known to drink heavily, to get very drunk and was the reason Paul McCartney fired him from Wings. Dont start rumors. Read the book "Little Wing" and find out about this man. Tragically, he died very young (26) and we will never know how great a guitarist he would have turned out to be.
