I also know that stereotypes are general and lacking of actual evidence when judging a person. For example i'm italian but i never played a mandolino and never been involvend in mafia. Another point: Some times when you talk to someone of your country, or your Town, or your religion, you agree with them. Some times you do not, and you might find more common points in certain topics or Life decisions with someone you do not identify with. Internet and globalization proves my point. I remember my sister's friend, she's Korean, when my sister visits korea her friends tell her stories of how people would look at her differently just because she dye her hair uniquely. She's an art teacher, graduated from US university, western educated kid coming back to Korea to work but the culture difference hit her too. And my sister happens to be Muslim wearing hijab so them together at a cafe, that surely put in stares everywhere. 😂
@@yummymellon4058 I think korea is starting to get used to people being different and nonconformist, it may take some more time for the general population to adjust but most people are pretty open. I hope they don’t find themselves in any unfortunate situations to have their feelings hurt and that they both comfortably live without worrying about others’ expectations. People always tell me that I’m unique, I’m not up to Korean beauty standards, not super skinny, not super light-skinned but I have a lot of confidence (thanks dad) so I don’t really care about what other people think of me. It seems like people are always impressed about that because they always tell me how self-conscious they are about everything but to me they all have nothing to be self-conscious of. Everyone, just live your lives, you are your own main character, just move forward in kindness and confidence. ❤️❤️❤️

Really ? My daughter lived in scotland. Glasgow to be exact. She is a hijabi too. She said she had never had any bad experience ever. Never felt uncomfortable and that Scots are generally very friendly and kind. She visited London and she hated it. Londoners are rude.

Well, my experience travelling to a Muslim neighbourhood certainly aren't nice. They point blank told me that i shouldn't buy a property there because i'm not a Muslim and they do not want a Christian as a neighbour. Shitty people are everywhere in every religion, not all Muslim are nice.

A friend of mine just returned from Korea, she was so upset she had paid for her whole family to see Korea, her father had been battling cancer for a couple of years. To racists, speak confidently in Korean so that people around you can hear you. "Why are you racist? Did I do something wrong?" All you have to do is say this in Korean. Korea has no racist law, but the category of violent crime is very high. If the person said they were going to kill you, that would be verbal abuse and an offense in Korea. Don't be scared, and I hope you deal with it confidently.

There are certainly several ways to say excuse me in Korean, it’s just not part of the culture to be bothered about slight contact in the big cities. New York is also stereotypically famous for this I believe.

I visited last year. I will say that if you are visiting tourist places where there will be lot of tourist then you are fine. But if you visit other place or out of city center. Be prepared to face rac!sm, cat calling, commenting on your back, harrassmeent, rudeness etc. Its so common. Our group was with tour guide and he was laughing. But if your tourist then stick to tourist location. Apart from this, its a good country, good food. You will enjoy it.
I found the people in Sth Korea nice. The cafe in the palace was closed so these lovely ladies gave my daughter and I some corn they had with them, I had a sore leg another day and was limping a little and another lady offered me her shoes thinking my shoes were hurting. That's shows how generous they are, I was only stared at once by an older man but that was out of town a little bit, didn't happen closer in the tourist area.
