Great video and very well explained. I would say tho the Dosatron box from GK PRO would make life so much easier for you when applying the bio. No need for pre mixing or running out and having to refill.
Moss growth can cause damage to the tiles, especially in freezing winter conditions when it hold the moisture and causes tiles to crack. So it’s a good idea to keep it well maintained.👍🏼
Great video,im in the process of buying the products you use, could you point me in the right direction for the 12” circular head and the correct hose and fittings to attach everything together, many thanks and best wishes for your business,Dale .
Hi Ash, quick question, when using water fed pole to apply the solution do you need to do anything to clear the the pole hose of the chemcial or clean the brush? If GK pro were to get on windows would it cause any damage? thanks charlie
GK pro won’t harm any surface it touches, it just reacts with organic growth. So yeah, you might want to wash it out of your hoses after use, and wear good ppe.
Hi mate do you ever come across fibre tiles I scraped one and used treatment it when white I started only scraping them now any other way around it thank you
Hello - Thanks for sharing as you do - Pls could you let us know the approximate Bar-pressure you set your pressure-cleaner to when using the 12" Mosmatic Skirt for roof cleaning ? Many thanks
I’m not sure since I don’t have a gusher on my machine. But I use slightly less revs on my machine. So I would recommend starting with the revs lower and gradually increase it as you get used to the tool.😃👍🏼
Great video as usual. I have a question, can you do roof cleaning in the rain? I think you said in the video, when it’s damp, moss can be harder to scrape off. So can you do it during the winter months in rainy weather or is it a summer service? Thanks 🙏
Ash, with it being a Biocide do you need to bag the downpipes and catch any run off to prevent it going down the drain? Or is it fine to drain off? Cheers
Yeah, I have seen this is done sometimes. You can do that if you like. I usually recommend starting the spraying from the bottom and working up to the top. That way there is little to no run off.😃👍🏼
Yes, this is a 30ft Ova8 pole with a uni-valve fitted. I am using a Gardiner brush with fan jets. It’s actually a hot water brush which means the bristles are slightly stiffer which I find great for this purpose.😃👍🏼
What do you mean by soft wash? If you mean pressure wash on a lower pressure, I wouldn’t take that approach on a roof like this as explained in the video. If you mean Hypo, I don’t use hypo on roofs as it is quite harsh and could damage the roof or surrounding area. I have applied a softwash/biocide solution to the roof using my wfp setup. This will kill off the organic growth and thus improve the condition of the roof without damaging the surface in any way.😃👍🏼
@@aemackintosh I’m not talking about pressure washing. I would do that. I use a 7 gallon a minute 12volt system. Just enough to apply my solution and walk away.
@@aemackintosh will look in to it as I've been using patio magic (good but expensive) but want to do my roof, walls and patios. im a retired window cleaner/industrial cleaner started in 1978..really find your channel interesting 😀 cheers

I've turned into a boring old man. While watching this video I thought to myself. I'd probably enjoy doing that job. Only now and again of course. Laughingface
That’s fair enough. I find roof cleaning to be quite profitable, but it is fairly specialist. You have to understand how to approach different situations in the best way and it takes a wide variety of tools and equipment to get the job done.😃👍🏼
I have customers who regularly get blockages in their gutters or debris falling on the ground below and the root cause is the build up of moss on the roof. It can also hold water which can cause cracks and damage to the tiles when it freezes in winter.
Sometimes you can loosen a crack that’s actually being held together by moss, but actually this could lead to further damage. So it’s much better to find these things out and get them sorted properly.😃👍🏼
Soak the roof inTFR, leave for 20 mins and starting from the top working down blast all the moss off with a 3 phase 415v 3kpsi pressure washer. No need for brushes.
@@aemackintosh I should have added, it's good for newer roofs in good condition but probably not suitable for the cottage in your video with a more fragile look to the tiles.. 👍
@@aemackintosh I've found TFR is a good all rounder from degreasing to cleaning cars, removing moss & lichen. As you're no doubt aware there are specific chemicals to do the job but TFR is a much cheaper option..
Did you clean all the moss from the gutters…? Solve one problem cause another…! What about the tiles that had been broken or pushed up…? Did you replace them or pull the tiles back down. No… because if you went up the roof with a small scaffolding you would have broken more roof tiles and caused more damage….. FYI. Moss does not effect the performance of any roof. Scraping the old tiles and then putting strong killer over the old fragile tiles make the tile more porous, so you just reduced the life span of the roof…. Good job. 🤦♂️
Yes, the job always includes cleaning out the gutters afterwards, eliminating the root cause of potential blockages later. Biocides won’t harm the surface being treated in any way. Thanks anyway for your comments.
