That's true, most Swatis I have met in South Africa 🇿🇦are good in English communication skills. It must be the reading culture that is embedded in every citizen in their country.
Eswatini together with Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa form part of the Common Monetary Area, CMA. It was established in 1974 as the Rand Monetary Area. The South African Rand is legal tender in all these countries but the other countries issue their own own currencies, the Lesotho loti, Namibian dollar and Swazi lilangeni. Foreign exchange regulations and monetary policies continues to reflect the influence of the South African Reserve Bank (Banginkulu ya Afrika-Dzonga) in this area.
I'm a bona fide Liswati and Manzini is my hometown. That's a true picture you presented there! Thanks Trudy and team. Keep up the good work! Next time visit the countryside and start with Ngculwini.
Hey Miss Trudy! Loved this vlog! I especially LOVE the black dress you're wearing and your braids as well! You showed us some really cool things about shopping & hanging out in the Kingdom of Eswatini! Thanks as always!
South Africa is a Capitalist Country and their Stock market(Johannesburg Stock Exchange) is bigger than all African countries Stock Exchanges combined together thats why Eswatini, Namibia and Zimbabwe use their currency, Rand PPP is strong.
Lol, I know SA is bigger economy, but still it's second largest economy after Nigeria...so I highly doubt statement is true given other large economies like Morocco, Egypt among others
@@WorldIn360channel SA is actually larger outside of resource receipts (oil&gas). The Johannesburg Stock Exchange JSE is one of the 20 largest stock exchanges in the world. Nigeria has nowhere near as much capital as South Africa. The two countries aren't close in financial & capital development. People make a mistake thinking that the raw GDP calculation means that Nigeria has a real economy (as in involving the population) that is larger than SA, but it's largely Oil & gas receipts. Very little of Nigeria's revenue-generating economy involves the general population. Only 8% of Nigerians are *formally* employed. Also the fact that a country of 200 million has almost the same raw GDP as a country of only 58 million should kind of give it away. South Africa is a *much* richer country.
@@walkersmith9764 I agree that SA is somewhat relatively advanced in terms infrastructure development, while it's true that Nigeria economy is more dependent on Oil and gas, but never underestimate Nigeria in terms of its ingenuity in other sectors. Actually, being dependent on Oil & Gas is not necessarily a bad thing (i.e if utilization is properly done...and Nigeria has had its fair share of problems in this regard), countries in Middle East such as UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia literally utilized or use Oil & gas as an engine not only for economic growth but diversification onto other sectors. Also let's not forget that SA has a fair share of mineral resources as well (possibly largest in Africa...perhaps after DRC) that continues to fuel it's economic development/ or at-least has helped jump-start other sectors of its economy
@@WorldIn360channel Well sure, but your first statement addressed Nigeria's *current* status and expressed doubt of the original poster's comment about capital, when in fact he was quite correct.
I lived close to Manzini in the 70s. My parents were missionaries. I'm writing a book about my childhood. It will be titled Finding God in the Black and White of Apartheid. I'd like to visit, and this video gave me a good idea of some prices of goods there now. Thank you for sharing!
First to comment, she just upload a video just in 1 minutes 4 thumbs-down... Hey it won't still stop her from getting to where she's suppose to get to. Love you trudy😍🤗
Jambo from the village of Harlem , New York ...please keep posting the beautiful , enlightening and enlivening videos of our Beloved Mama Afrika...Asanteni sana...
I love those bowls and the utensils. Great for salad. What I liked most was the guy showing you around who is from that country. Polite and low - key. He's seems to be good for you Miss Trudy.
This is my favourite part of yo videos. In my country ,public phones no longer working. They were vandalised.Salute to Eswatini pple.Trudy you are just excellent
Stock exchange and central is only in SA. So South Africa determines the monetary policy for Eswatini and Lesotho. I think Namibia too, maybe I'm wrong though
You're right.Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini are in a Customs Union with South Africa since 1910, called SACU.(Southern African Customs Union) Fun Fact: It is the world's oldest existing customs union. The economies of these countries are so integrated that they are effectively one economy obviously centered on South Africa. The next step of a customs union is usually integration/federation. That was always the plan but after the 1950s because of Apartheid that was delayed and in the case of the South African SWA province (Namibia) actually led to independence. But with a legitimate government in place in Pretoria, recently the talk is back, with South Africa suggesting that since none of these countries have a population bigger than a large South African town, they ought to just put a system in place where if a person is born in SACU the local Home Affairs office should automatically send a copy of the birth certificate to Home Affairs in Pretoria which can easily handle the small footprint of these populations. This would, to quote former President Motlanthe, "start to give the economic Union the beginnings of a political expression as well." The area is also called the "Randzone" which is why you don't need to exchange your Rands when you are there.
Tami Nkambule you talking about sacu I’m talking about currencies. SACU is like what the US, Mexico and Canada have in NAFTA. You can’t use Mexican peso in the USA or Canada and you can’t use the us dollar in Mexico to buy items. Same thing with Botswana and SA. You can’t use rand in Botswana. But you can use rand in Swaziland, Lesotho and Namibia. Botswana has its own independent currency, Pula, not backed by the rand and its exchange rate is higher than rand
Ms. Trudy, like I said, docile and gullible more so than other cultures. We care so much about the welfare of others then we do our own; a servant mentality and will fight to defend it. The economy there is like the us economy in the 60's .Thanks for sharing Ms. Trudy. No eat for me Ms. Trudy.
Such videos about Africa somehow reflects that we can do well on our own as Africa, we can survive without the western world. Keep up the good work Miss Trudy
We live in a globalized society. "Surviving" is silly. Thriving comes when you plug into the international system, embrace democracy and open your country to new ideas.
@@VisibilityFoggy It's also very small, lots of rich fertile land for crops and animals, easy to manage really. Helps that everyone there is friendly and know English (to add to your globalized point). Really laid back country with a strong focus on education
Great video Miss Trudy... Thank you so much for making a video that shows all the things western media will never showcase. They only wanna show negative information that will give the world the wrong impression. They make us focus on how low the currency and blind you from the fact that even though our currency is not as strong as theirs but the value is pretty high hence you can afford a reasonable number of useful items. And the guy did a good job in representing Eswatini
Swatini meat wholesalers is a great idea! The part where you season the meat yourself and they roast it for you is awesome! You can go shopping for the day and get fresh cooked food...that beats “fast processed food” any day! 🤗😆😋 Tfs!
Hi from London, Miss Trudy. I met a diplomat from Eswatini/ Former Swaziland and was curious to learn more about the locals, culture and what daily life is like there. Keep up the good work.
We don't rely on South Africa, they have some of our land which is rich with minerals so it's safe to say we're sharing resources hence the same currency. And if y'all didn't notice Lilangeni is actually higher that rands, by cents of course hahaha
Fun story: before the £ coin was changed, whenever I visited Swaziland I would bring back a bag of their lilangeni coins to use in UK to cheat vending machines and phoneboxes, because as a former British colony they were the same shape, weight and size as the £1 (just different image on them). 😅😅
This Bnu mall is in manzini. I have used those coin boxes more than a thousand times when I was there. Happy to see manzini market again. I bought my local chickens from this market.
Those phones are out of style in the USA they used to be in Grand Central Station and other subway stations and on street corners before the cell phones became popular!! Antiques now!!
I'm a Blackman in the Atl I wanna go to Afica bad as hell. Money wit black faces on them. Black kids in the US need to see that, small things like that will change your perspective of who you are we don't talk about it but it matters.
It was agreed many years ago that the exchange rates between SA, Eswatini and Namibia will always be 1. Hence the money being accepted across the countries.
Its great to have such blogs wherin there is dearth of such information through youtubers.. But i suggest to invite genuine pedestrian for sharing of knowledge instead of team member of the bloggers.. But nice way to share to the point discussion..
I had to look it up I didn't even know such country exists... every time u think u know all the countries, bam! A new one pops up. But the way very interesting video pretty enlightening
I stay in SA full Time but originally from Swaziland. I once bought Chicken Licken hot wings using Swaziland Money. The ladies were intrigued. Timphiko letibabako😋😂
Miss Trudy your braids are so dope African. It matches with your outfit. It all makes you smashing and radiant. I love your looks, but would have look greater on a smart sneakers. Try it and see the comments from your viewers.
Any one from Eswatin raise your hands 🙋... also state your home town and the bus you use from Manzin to your home town .... Let me do it from Lavumisa and i use Imbabala bus service...let have fun maSwati lamahle
Eswatini and south Africa are link economically, due to eswatini population size it was not going to be a lot of burden if they become one country with south Africa but politically and many years of separation it will be impossible task, but they can just produce more products and target to sell them in south Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe...etc they should be more develop country
Hey Miss Trudy I so new here, but I love the video. I have friends that live in your country and I need more of what it's like to shop in your country. I been helping them out so can you make more videos like this ?
