What A Bricked/Corrupted Amazon (Alexa) Echo Dot Looks Like 

Finally an answer. I left mine unplugged for a couple of years, and wanted to get it back up and running....

I bought two brand new Echo Studio Speakers just about a week ago. Set them up, paired them, then tested them and they worked perfectly - the sound is amazing. Then after about 10 minutes, my Alexa App stated that both devices had not been completely set up, so I completed setup for both of them, then they both switched off and have been bricked ever since. I can't factory reset or use any button combinations to get any of the devices into setup mode or any other mode. No amount of powering off or shouting at them helps either. They are both utterly bricked and I am awaiting support from Amazon. Absolutely gutted!

I've been trying to corrupt Alexa for years, and she still won't talk dirty to me.

What caused yours to get corrupted?

I’ve got one that has always worked, it’s a gen 2 or 3 can’t remember exactly but it refuses to connect to the internet l, tells me it can’t understand anything right now but I can look in my router and see it connected … go to the Alexa app and it says it’s disconnected … now it has a full purple ring light and constantly says sorry I’m having trouble understanding now please try again a little later. I really just wanted to use it as a Bluetooth speaker but you can’t even do that if you can’t make it through the setup successfully … terrible

I believe there's no USB connection and therefore you can't flash the firmware with a computer. I got some smart speakers that have hidden USB C connection that can be use for flashing the firmware. The USB connection also allows people to mod their devices. People do this modding a lot with Android tv boxes.

I have a bricked echo dot, turns out it could also be the power source. I don't know about voltage but being connected o the wall outlet it won't work (bricked) connected to my 5 port usb connected to my laptop works just fine. 7/1/23
