he wasn't using asura's tricks, he got enough of that crap of going like budha and went to punch asura the more the better, but in the end he really copyed asura's moveset to try to keep up with asura, but asura's powers come from mantra, chakravartin was dumb, he could possibly take the mantra powers of wrath from asura, he lost because he was too overconfident
@@fakeletobr730The point of the fight was to show that Asura has ascended beyond the creator, he was making his own destiny and defying fate, chakravartin wouldn't have been able to take it away from him, likely because h was more powerful and also because he was blowing air up his own ass, chakravartin seemed to have influence over mantra but doesn't seem to be as in control as he states.
@@crapcase3985 ok, if chakravartin knew what was going to happen, he would just give his daughter back and run or even use her as hostage, better surviving than facing asura that would eventually become stronger than himself
@@fakeletobr730 None of those would have worked. Using Mithra as a hostage equals him dead. Leaving Mithra and running ends with him hunted down and beaten.
I feel like Asura and Kratos would actually be respectful to each other and would get along. They are both 'Gods' but they don't want to be worshipped or put in charge. They are both Fathers that want what's best for their children
Ummm no Kratos after GOW 2 became God of War amd he seem to enjoyed the power using his status to expand Sparta also Kratos killed a lot of innoceny people but Asura didnt at all
1. Asura is legitimately just built different. He challenged the creator of his universe to a fist fight and *won* , all cause he made his daughter cry And ,yeah, we meme on it but Asura's motivation of "protect my daughter" is so beautifully simple and you can't help but respect the man. 2. I love that Chakravartin actually *feels* powerfull and that, as the fight progresses, he drops the pretense of divinity and shows himself for the monster he is. Hell, he gets so desperate by the end of the fight that he starts *hijacking* the player's QTEs in hopes of swinging the fight in his favor.
Chakravartin is one of the few times in gaming it refer to something in a setting as a full stop god, not just some powerful being calling himself god, man throws suns and planets while stopping time and moving between other realities. And asura matches and surpasses with sheer rage for his daughter, built diferent
I really think about this ending a lot. There's quite a lot to talk about in this episode alone so I'll try to break it down into different bits based on the story progression: -As said in the previous episode, the Mantra Reactor that Yasha installed on Asura was empty of the souls that the Seven Deities had gathered, so it was powerless alone. So rather than using the souls, Asura was able to reach the Destructor transformation through his sheer wrath alone, as his body was now able to handle his power. -If my memory serves right, the Golden Form was sitting in the center of the Milky Way galaxy according to game illustrations, so Destructor Asura was quite literally traveling light years to reach him. Note that Destructor Asura is around the size of the Earth, so everything that Chakravartin was throwing at him is bigger than it appears to be. -Event Horizon is essentially the center of a black hole, so for the majority of the fight, you're quite literally fighting Chakravtin in the palm of his hand within a black hole, and won. -Chakravartin's transformation is how he actually appears as. Due to his power, he believes that he has a destiny of "helping those" in need. Through his previous dialogue and interactions, it's heavily implied that all of the events in the game isn't the first time he has done something like this, as he aims to help other worlds "that are in need of his guidance". Thus, the transformations shed his illusion of divinity and show the true monster that he really is. -Chakravartin, the Creator's theme is called "One Who Spins Samsara". This ties into Hinduism/Buddhism belief as one who essentially controls the wheel of life and the concept of rebirth/death, which is Chakravartin's nature of him manipulating those on Gaea and being the one responsible for everything. Thus, Asura had to destroy him as being the perpetrator of the cycle of suffering. -At near the end of the fight, Chakravartin does indeed start to have his own QTEs. It's spelled as "om" and can mean many things such as the sound of creation, the universe, divinity, etc. -The dialogue there before the final fight got a bit cut out there when you press "End it". Mithra would've continued it by saying, "Without Mantra, you cannot survive-". This goes back to Mithra's previous interaction with Chakravartin with Asura relying on Mantra as his literal lifeline, but Mithra would just become a mortal without it. That is why Asura says "but, you will still live" as he doesn't care about his life so as long as Mithra's survival is ensured. -Asura's pupil coming back showcases that he was finally at peace with himself. Ever since he was initially killed, he was literally blinded with rage, so his pupils were white, but you could make them out (in comparison to Augus who was just literally quite blind). Even with Viltra's defeat, they didn't disappear since his wrath wasn't quenched, so them coming back means his rage has finally end. -The explosion at the end of the fight would make it seem at first that Mantra was lost, but it's actually now meant to be what it is; to spread life. With Chakravatin's death, there is no one left that can manipulate it to their own means. -If you had not noticed prior, this is a version of New York where people continue the legend of Asura from Mithra's telling and honor his legacy. That's why there are several things that commemorate him such as the Statue of Liberty being replaced with a statue of Asura as well as various joints being named after him like "Asura Attack Burger". -That is a Chun-Li cameo yea; there's been a bunch of other Capcom cameos in the game like Okami and Monster Hunter, but this ending alone makes a bunch of people believe that Asura Wrath predates the Street Fighter timeline by millions of years. While it's not outright confirmed, it could be easily connected if Capcom wanted. -Apart from this, Asura actually has yet to really appear in anything else minus a mobile Capcom all-stars (Street Fighter x All Capcom) and a costume in Street Fighter V. He's been quite a popular request with stuff like Marvel vs. Capcom and whatnot. As a fun fact, all of the true ending stuff was initially meant to be a sequel for the game, but it didn't garner enough sales so it was repurposed as DLC content. To my knowledge, this game quite literally took up all of the disc space as well, but I might be wrong about it.
the only thing we can hope for is that sometime in the future, some big streamer sends their entire fan base to annoy and bully capcom into making one because capcom seems to be really adamant about making one of their worst business decisions and not making any type of remake or sequel.
to correct you on that last detail. That's wrong. The DLC was always Supposed to be DLC never a meant to be a sequel thing. It can SET UP a sequel like the EP 22 ending stinger but the Charcravartin stuff all of that was intended to be DLC what you said is some false information people spread around about the stuff behind the scenes. The devs in the Asura's Wrath book (art book i think mention this DLC situation) The DLC was Planned to always end the story.
Asura was able to reach the Destructor level because the Mantra Reactor works as not only the vessel of his Mantra of Wrath, but other seven Mantras as well (think of it as DC's emotional spectrum and white lantern, or Warhammer Fantasy's Winds of magic and the lore of each wind), thus symbolizing complicity and transcendental being who is the living incarnate of the world's very karma
i have seen this ending so many times but it always gives me the chills after the "my wrath is finally gone" this game really needs a remaster like this would be bough by so many people
wanna know something insane? the creator basically knocked Asura down to his base form for the last fight. so Asura basically threw down with GOD, and won in his base form. crazy.
The red aura suggests that it disabled the Mantra Reactor's power as well. So it was only storing Asura's Wrath, and not amplifying it or whatever it did. So, Asura defeated God through sheer will.
Dontai such a real one for completing this. PS: if you didn’t realise, Adult Mithra at the end credits is the voice of the narrator for all of the episodes
SPOILERS COMMENTARY: I never watched anything on Asura's Wrath, so the ending where you QTE as both Asura and The Creator was hype af. Got me screaming as quietly as I could in my house 😂
@@CasualCat64 honestly bro, shit was more fire than I initially thought. Wish I can buy it, I got a PS3 (so I could play it), but a remaster would be crazy 🔥
8:50 naw man, he was throwing meteorites and moons at you, but THAT was a planet. It has texting plates detailing where the land, oceans, and continents were, but had completely dried up and frozen from chakravartin throwing it across space. As he punches through it the camera is placed on the surface, and Asura looks back on the planet, noting its similarity to his own, and the countless lives lost on it because Chakravartin just used it as a simple projectile.
This is truly one of the biggest tragedies in the gaming industry. But on the other hand, the plot is so good that perhaps it is for the best that there is no sequel. But Capcom could at least remember these characters. They are so well written. Asura and Yasha should not be forgotten.
Before Ff16, there was THIS MOTHERFUCKING MASTERPIECE. I hope people who dipped in FF16 discover this game because it was everything 16 had and arguably more.
I like the fact that at the start of a fight Chakravartin immediately sent Asura to naraka (which is the hindu equivalent of hell). He basically killed Asura, but the man is so powerful at this moment he went back by simply punching very hard.
The ending after the credits was truly a mind blown moment for me when I played the game back then. Throughout the game, you can hear Mithra narrating the story in those episode previews and everything. It was all along Mithra telling Asura's story to those kids at the true ending. It truly blew me and my cousin's mind. He watched me played through the entire game 10 years ago. 10 years ago, he was crashing at my house for his mandatory National Service, so he and I were bunk mates. He first watched me play the game at the start. After the fight with Wyzen, we realised this is nothing like a game at all, but rather an anime where we are playing and living the moment as the characters, like an interactive anime. After that I only played when he was around, so we can watch the whole story together. The ending when Mithra said "And that was how my father lived" made something clicked in our minds and made us realise at the same time, all along throughout the game, she was the one telling a story to the kids. We loved this game and it earned a permanent place in our hearts due to how good the story and how epic the fight scenes were. Also, the scale of the battle in Asura's Wrath was simply mindblowing and beyond anything we had ever seen in any game or anime or cartoons. Nothing even come close to the epicness of Asura's Wrath. From Wyzen growing big enough to poke a planet, to Augus's sword stretching long enough to pierce through one end of the Earth to another end, to fighting Vlitra that is literally Earth coming alive. Then finally, Chakravatin casually throwing planets, suns, galaxies and supernovas at you. Furthermore, the way the characters are designed and their powers are also symbolic to the mantra that they use. Yasha is always wearing a mask, because he always has a sad face symbolising him with the mantra of Melancholy. This also has to do with him sacrificing his niece, sister, brother-in-law and billions of innocent souls. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but he continued to convince himself it was for the greater good, causing a conflict of his heart and mind. Deus grew patterns covering over his face in the final fight, because he was too proud to see any other alternative methods or paths other than his own, symbolising him with the mantra of Pride. Augus's eyes are always white like a blind person's because he was blinded by Greed (Desire). The same for Asura after being betrayed and after his resurrection, his eyes are always white because he is blinded by Wrath. Notice after he saved Mithra and defeated Chakravatin and his Wrath is gone his eyes turned back to normal? Wyzen only knows how to harm and debase others. Also his fighting style is to use his position of power and his size to one-sidedly hurt others, symbolising him with the mantra of Violence. The rest are quite obvious. Kalrow is too lazy to even lift a finger and fight himself. Sergei only vainly pursues surface beauty. Olga only acting out of love for Deus.
@@EEE-1409 Yes it is. You can try watching a playthrough of Asura's Wrath where the next episode preview isn't cut out. Or you can try playing the game again yourself. Play through everything until you reach the true end by defeating Chakravatin. When you reach the ending of Mithra where you see Mithra telling a group of kids a story you will realise it is true. All along throughout the game, it was Mithra recounting her father Asura's life in a story to the kids. You can also take note of the symbolisms of all the characters I mentioned. Asura and Augus's eyes being white all the time because they are blinded by Wrath and Greed. At the end when Asura killed Chakravatin, his eyes returned to normal because his wrath is gone. Deus being too proud to see anything else being symbolised as the markings that appear to cover his face in his final boss fight, not even alternate solutions to a same problem. Yasha always wearing a mask to hide his sad face because he knows in his heart what he did was wrong, but he had to accept it for the greater good. At the very end of his life when he is finally free of his burden and deciding to trust in Asura, he smiled before he took his last breath. This game has so much symbolism and the scale of the fights are simply mindblowing. It's a 9/10 game, with the only 1 point missing because you need to purchase the DLC just to get the true ending.
@@xorngoh7303 Yeah, I know. Thinking back, I realise now that the narrator's voice did sound like grown up Mithra here. I understand all the symptom you mentioned. It's really genius and beautiful how it links with all the characters and their traits. The game is amazing, but it's only missing good graphics. Even for a 2012 game, it still looks quite beautiful. Imagine a remaster today? It would be game of the decade.
Asura's Wrath is an all time favourite for me, not only is it unique In it's own way of telling a story and how the game is played but I don't think I've played a game that's scaled so high that galaxy's are being thrown at me
this game is like 11 years old now. and capcom still has the AUDACITY to not make a remake or any type of sequel. One of the worst business choices in capcom history.
All I'm worried about is the possibility that it could be a horrendous remake. In this day and age, I don't think I could trust many big gaming corporations to make good content anymore. I still have hope though. The potential this game has is immeasurable. If a remake is made, and it is done correctly, it would certainly be game of the decade.
I really wish chat was with us for this last episode lol but still this was amazing . Most underrated game of all time . Thanks for this bro. Btw the end when future asura put his arms out to protect his family 🥲 just like he always did
Words can not explain dontai how grateful I truly am… towards the fact you played this underrated, truly beautiful masterpiece of a game. Tis one of mah favs.
I love how Chakravartin legit breaks the very laws of their reality and fucks with the player’s QTEs And STILL loses because Asura is that fucking angry about his daughter crying
At least somebody realized that moon was way too big to be Earth's moon, Asura's Destructor form already outsizes Earth. Just about everyone else who played this game kept assuming that it was Earth's moon he punched through.
I feel so bad for mithra, her talent for supporting was noticed, leading to her mother being murdered, her being imprsoned and used as a battery, her father was exiled and she was used as a source of power for like 15000 years or some shit, when her father comes back and gets her, she almost loses him again and then after finally winning, god fucking ganks her and she's forced to watch and wait and THEN, her father frees her but vanishes and dies in her arms. No fucking way would I be able to smile after that.
Only the 1st playthrough of this game I've ever seen and already I can easily say: THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME. The voice acting, the soundtrack, the bosses, QTE's, setpieces, story, everything is so phenomenal and immaculate. The length of this game admittedly surprised me and when the true ending missions began, the story reached heights I didn't anticipate at all, but I mean all of this in a good way. It's crazy to think of where we started to where we ended. Not for one second did I not enioy watching this game. Not for a single. second. It genuinely kept me super invested the whole way through and I don't even know how. I love how balls to the walls chaotic this entire game is. The reveals like Chakravartin are crazy, but work because they still fit the game's nature. Maybe I seem overexcited, I am overexcited. It's just been a really long time since a game's had this hard of a hold on me. I expected and knew the gameplay and bosses would be good based on what people say about it. But the story, like I said, all the way to the end captivated me. And that's what pleasantly surprised me the most. It's simple at its core, but so effective. Excellent game. I hope I revisit this game many times throughout my life because this was such a good experience even just watching it, man. Fuck, it's so good. Lastly: WHY DON'T PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THIS GAME MORE OFTEN!? It's crazy to me that this game is such a magnum opus and yet I barely hear or see any discussion about it. I love this game with all my heart. I'm so glad I randomly decided to watch this series. Props to you too with the gameplay, Dontai. Your reactions were fun to watch while also having my own. This game is seriously on another level. I know I can't stop saying it but, c'mon, why deny what's true? Sad as I am, I'm happy our boy Asura got what he wanted. No one deserves to live with all that wrath inside of them. He sacrificed what he felt he needed to. His wife told him to do what he thinks is right, and he did. Such a great protagonist. Into my personal Hall of Fame he goes.
Absolutely agreed. The QTEs are brilliant, but imo the actual battles could be fleshed out way more. There should be more combos avaliable for fighting variety. And with battles against goons, I think the pacing should be increased since a lot of time is spent in one place. Other than that, the only problem is lacklustre graphics. Even then, it still looks absolutely amazing. That's why Asura's Wrath needs a remake desperately. Maybe even that sequel that was cancelled a long time ago. Let's make it happen!! I don't want this gem of a game to sit in the shadows any longer. It deserves to be up there with games like God of War.
Asura is peak rather. Ain’t nothing compared to that sheer anger and pain that titan of a lad has. Game was life changing for me when I first got my hands on it tbh
I would love to see a fight between Kratos and Asura. They are very similar, they both loss lost their family, fight gods, to angry to die, have fiery abilities, and just straight up powerful. I think Kratos would win but idk.
Actually though. This game makes me feel like no other. Imagine an animated movie adaptation of this. It would be like 3 hours lol but it would be incredible.
Can’t wait for the next playthrough, Deadpool, Ashre, Wolverine has all been peak so far, just feels like he understands the hype behind everything so the energy just bounces
the game's over 11 years old now. As much as I would LOVE an asuras wrath sequel it probably won't happen. That is, unless some MASSIVE creator that has a big voice in the gaming community sends their fans to bully capcom into making one XD
Originally the true ending would have been part of the sequel but the game did so poorly that they just made it into DLC. At least they finished it though instead of leaving the ending as a cliffhanger. This is one of my favourite games and easily my favourite final boss. No other game has conveyed the story of fighting a strong opponent the same way this game does. Showing the opponents QTE's as if you're fighting another player is a genius way to convey that you're fighting an enemy as strong as you the player. CyberConnect2 is busy doing their anime games which they are certainly good at. But I hope one day they get another chance to make something original again like this.
Because Capcom was in a really shitty spot at the time this came out, most people assumed this was them gouging the ending out of the base game to sell DLC. However, it turns out that this was the scrapped sequel, recycled into DLC. Which is still bollocks mind you, sequel got canned over low base game profits, but credit where it is due as they apparently didn't DLC Gouge...
Damn the masterpiece really came to an end. It's still so crazy that Dontai played this. Thank you Dontai for going through the whole game ❤ really gave us a super satisfying series to experience. Asura getting the respect it deserves on Dontais channel.
39:09 Dontai I’m so sorry but as someone who has played Asura’s Wrath on every difficulty You lowkey kinda ass at the game like I’m sorry but I got S ranks on Normal accidentally
Man, it is a delight to take this journey of Asura's Wrath with you Dontai. I hope you play more of Clover/Platinum developed games, like Metal Gear Rising and God Hand.
This game is truly a masterpiece. Every time I see the ending, I always cry. This is hands down one of my favorite games of all time. I wish it could get a remaster or something in the future
It's been a while since I've watched an entire game's walkthrough but I was just so thoroughly entertained that this whole game just flew by. Loved all of your and chat's reactions and I look forward to all of motha-fuckin Wolverine. Much love bro, don't change.
