Can we just acknowledge the fact that Armstrong could only have bought the giant robot ant for aesthetic reasons, because he's literally stronger than it
the most badass thing about sam (and the reason he is easier to fight than the others) is that he is only part cyborg. hes basically a normal human battling a cyborg made for battle.
i feel that saying part cyborg undermines his strength since tbf he isnt even a cyborg, hes just a man with a prosthetic arm, everything else about him is purely human
@@submergedbird8244his suit is outdated If anything by the games standard, it’s just a full body vest that gives minor protection, he’s just that strong lol
Bro dunked on the guy that dunked on Metal Gear RAY, an MG designed to kill other large metalic city destroying machines. And Sam merked the guy who merks MG-merkers.
I’m sad this game never got a sequel, and most likely (or indefinitely) won’t get one. This game is amazing, and was a great way to continue a story in the Metal Gear universe after the 4th.
It would be interesting seeing raiden follow Armstrong's beliefs, if they were going to make a next game they could have raiden be the villain if they wanted or make it so that Armstrong's America comes true
It’ll get a sequel eventually, if Alan Wake can get a sequel this definitely can. The game studios know how much fans are anticipating certain games so they wait for the right time to drop them to get the most hype out of it. They know how much holding out on us works in making us want it more.
@@kirbe5039 I highly doubt they'd make Raiden the villain for the simple fact that that's just not who he is. While Raiden did agree with Armstrong that the system in America as it is now is fucked up, they wanted two vastly different things. Armstrong wanted a lawless world where people are free to do whatever they want solely because they have the strength and means to do so. There would be nothing keeping the worst of humanity from running wild. Raiden did not agree with that at all. Raiden is still a fairly good person, and even though does act way outside the law a lot, he would never pursue the same goal as Armstrong, especially not when his methods to carry out his plan involved making an army of child soldiers who were put through the same hell he was. TLDR: Raiden and Armstrong both held ideals of freedom, but their definitions of freedom were way too different for Raiden to ever carry out Armstrong's goals
I love seeing how invested Dontai was in the cutscenes and storyline. I wasn't sure if he'd really fw the overall message of the game beyond how cool everything was. Also Jetstream Sam gotta be one of the best rivals in any game ever.
I love how each character gets stronger whenever they are spitting their philosophy. It's like a debate and the fighting is just a visual representation of the impact of their beliefs in that particular moment. In the end, Wolfy had to step in and spit his own take and give Raiden that good anime BUDDY MOTIVATION. And the music is always on point with it lol
*New Player:* “Hey, is that giant robot the final boss?” *MGR Fan:* “No, it’s the tutorial boss.” *New Player:* “Okay.. is the giant spider robot the final boss?” *MGR Fan:* “No, it’s guy piloting the spider robot.”
if anyone cares about a quick *SPOILER* backstory on Sunny, - Sunny Gurlukovich ( Renamed to Emmerich ) is the daughter of Olga Gurlukovich. One of the Russian female operatives Snake encounters out at sea on a boat during the events of MGS 2. Hal (Otacon) Emmerich adopted her and raised her along side Snake during the events of MGS 4, There's a point you meet Raiden again here and his arm gets cut off (which is why when Sam cuts it off at the beginning of the game he says "Dammit, Not again!") and Snake brings him back in and Sunny is the one that really looked after Raiden until he got better. Raiden has a Wife (Rose) and a Son (John)
Armstrong was ultimately right about Raiden in that he, like Armstrong, fights for what he believes in no matter the odds, and will absolutely kill if he must. The personal war you see him embark upon at the end shows that his words even got through, though how Raiden wields the ideal is much different from how Armstrong would have, if I'm remembering correctly. It's also cool how Raiden is effectively exactly what Armstrong wants the rest of the world to become, yet is completely opposed to what he's doing. And it fits that who believes the weak should be culled by the strong is ultimately destroyed by someone stronger than themselves.
And thus the main story concludes with 3 more songs. For Sam we got “The only thing I know for real” which is hype. And Armstrong gets 2 songs. “Collective consciousness” which explains what we THINK his motives are, and “It has to be this way” after the realization that he and Raiden aren’t so different Side note: 33:11 “Yo! Is that f@cking black face?!?!”
It goes even deeper than that. Armstrong believes in nothing except his own greatness. He gives what's effectively a speech and then follows it up with, "I don't write my own speeches." The speech itself is just bites of other speeches as well, this is advertised by bits from two speeches that are unable to be more different if they tried. One is a call to the most sincere humanity and the other is a dog whistle to Fascistic ideology. Those two things are cognitively dissonant. Reinforcing that Armstrong himself believes nothing save for his Fascistic ideology. "Weak" and "strong" are relative terms, Bladewolf even makes this explicit when he says that if Raiden wants to protect everyone weaker than him then it would be billions of people. Armstrong sees himself as the strongest person there is. When someone states an absolute they also state the implied opposite since the listener subconsciously thinks that the opposite is the only way that absolute statement has meaning. So, when Armstrong says, "The weak shall serve," he implies, "The strong shall rule," and in Armstrong's eyes no one is stronger than him, as they're weaker than him they shall all serve him.
I like how raiden actually shows respect to Sam by instead stabbing him through the chest instead of slicing him to millions of pieces like the others even tho he was the guy that almost fucking dog watered raiden in the vid lol.
3:28 dance party 5:57 the end of samuel 7:31 to put it simply, it was originally a formidable katana. 1. Its pretty crazy that, even with his new body, Sam was able to pretty consistently dunk on Raiden despite his only major cybernetic enhancement being his arm. Which actually made him *weaker* if anything, since he had trouble getting used to it. 2. I am convinced that half the reason that this game doesn't have a sequel is because they have no idea how to top Armstrong. The dude has next to no screentime up until the final level and yet they do such a good job of making every second he's onscreen count to make him not just iconic, but one of the best final bosses in video game history. And the fact that he's *chronologically* the *final boss* of the entire Metal Gear franchise is just the cherry on top.
@@Floaydi to be fair I haven't been interested in Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss in a while due to it getting fucking terrible in the second season. I just haven't bothered to change it because I'm a lazy fuck
@@lucifermagne7458 Yea its annoying to see what happened to Helluva Boss because when season 1 ended i was actually quite invested/interested in the show. And now season 2 has destroyed that for me
@@ImStillSixxeswhen Raiden turns red, it's because he's feeling pain. When Bladewolf decided not to shake Raiden's hand, Raiden turned red, which means he was hurting because Bladewolf rejected his handshake
I think we know what kind of games Dontai likes by now, the violent hack and slash type game where the protagonist feels OP and can literally obliterate their enemies and you just feel powerful playing as them. Kratos, Asura, Deadpool, Wolverine, Dante, Cal Kestis, and now Raiden are one in the same. I wonder who will be next.
Ay, sam is that guy bro, he literally has no cyberneyic enhancments other than a prosthetic arm which is why hes easier than the other bosses but this man literally dunked on raiden at the train, he has my respect, no minions, no bullshit, just a one on one. Also Raiden actually sliced the doctor and george in half in that room but george managed to survive with his head and left arm intact so hes basically a cyborg now, you didnt see it because it'll be graphic af
Dontai Love you man, Watching you play games like these is just so damn good, without the twitch stuff on too just private chill recordings like this. You gotta continue playing games like these
If you liked Sam’s sword, you can even play as him in the free DLCs. Would also recommend playing the other MGS games if you want to make sense of the SOP and other in-game lore things Also Senator Armstrong has the same VA as Mimir from GOW.
Now you gotta try Metal Gear Solid 3. Idk if stealth games is your thing but the story and bosses in that game are amazing, also it's chronologically the first game in the series.
I would love for dontai to play the metal gear solid games, don't know if they are too long for a youtube series though but snake eater would be great, him experiencing when the song kicks in
Probably my favorite series I've seen you play other than 12 minutes. I'd suggest you play other Metal Gear games if you'd like to try out any more stealth games.
48:48 is it just me or just the swings he make just before hitting armstrongs hand sync with the music, also the lyrics coming in at the end was just perfect
The thing that was impressive about Sam imo was that he was still beating Raiden's ass the entire time with almost no cybernetic enhancements and even after Raiden got his upgrades, Sam still gave him trouble during their final fight. I also loved how he just wanted to do a normal duel. No extra bullshit. No speeches. Just a fight to the death.
Sam fight is pretty straight forward, but on higher difficulties when everybody hits like a tank you’ve died 10x over with the amount of hits you took 😂
I think what made this playthrough interesting is the fact he struggled more with sundowner than sam which is in funny cos most people view sundowner as the easiest boss given his health and the fact you dont even to destroy his shields to beat him
What I find interesting is at 51:49 when he says "Deep inside were kindred spirits you and I". If you look closely Raiden his shadow is exactly on Senator Armstrong his body.
Armstrong is a parody on what US was (and kind of still is) like back in the day of "democracy invasions". And a very accurate representation of the current world situation Almost as if it was predicted to happen
Can we get like a summarization of the events that led up to this game? I’ve seen this game played many times, yet I still have a small grasp on the lore here. Not the whole Metal Gear universe, just Raiden, Sunny and other elements in this game. I think Dontai and the rest of us would appreciate it
Bro this seeies was so fun to watch. I really hope he plays 40k Space Marine one day before the sequel comes out later this year. God that game is sick!
Wow Dontai what a blast of a vid!!!🔥🔥 The whole fight with the senator is so awesome I could watch it a 100 times! I also recommend you to check out the dlc, you'll get to play as jetstream Sam and bladewolf!
Having that side dodge is absolutely required for Armstrong plus that polarm is definitely the best when it comes to attacking fast. I definitely had fun my first time through and I also chose the red and black skin too.
