Aww, Tysm. Yes, sadly we've not caught the attention of the RU-vid gods just yet, although feel free to share us out to friends! Still, we are eternally grateful to all the followers we do have, and we make content because we enjoy it, which I hope comes across in our vlogs - if we happen to get bigger as a channel (eventually) that's a bonus for us! :)
I love your allotment, it is absolutely charming. An easy remedy for slugs is to take disposable containers (like the kind some food items come in), cut holes in the side, and fill with beer. It turns out slugs love beer, lol. The slugs go in, get drunk, and then drown. I live in temperate wetlands in the States and had a terrible slug problem until I did this. Good luck, guys.
Thankyou. Yes I managed to get a few tubs of them earlier in the year, lol! Slugs seem to be huge as well now. We have loads of massive black ones! Tilly ❤️
@@AllotmentFamilyDiary I feel you on that, we have leopard slugs and they are horrid. Google says yours are probably ash-black slugs which are huge too. At least they describe yours as 'living in ancient woodlands' so that sounds cool. It took me around a year to get rid of them, but they never came back. It was kind of a crap year having little tubs all over the place but man it was worth it. It also just occured to me that you might have a harder time because with all the gardens they have many food sources. Maybe start a slug patrol with the help of your allotment community? I'm not sure, but good luck man, hope you beat 'em.
what a nice harvst for a beautiful dinner . i am enjoying the new music . parsnip stunted could be due to manure if used . best allotment bloggers out there. . lovely family
My wife and I just saw your latest video here in Hamilton, Canada. I have not yet unearthed our horseradish which I obtained for free about 6 years ago. Up until last year I was digging it up and canning it leaving the smaller roots in the ground. However After 4 years I noticed the roots were getting smaller so last year I left in the ground undisturbed and just put fresh compost from our bin and watered every day. Hope to see more videos with a hot cuppa tea in the future. PS I was born the year of the Rooster and a neighbour gave us a Rooster weather vane earlier this month. .
Thankyou. That’s interesting about the horse radish. The actual root turned out to be quite big when we took it home. I gave it a good wash and cut into chunks and then froze it. Looking up some nice recipes for Christmas beef now!Tilly ❤️
Almost log burner time put a smile on Tilly’s face 😊. Oh gorgeous rooster weathervane 🐓. Me too Tilly I have to stay away from smoke from even our own bonfire 🔥. You certainly have an abundance of veg still on the go. WOW that is a huge mooli. There is always a head chicken 🐔 which in turn means there is a bottom 🐓 one 😢. 😅 and here we are at the leek patch. Great update everyone, have a wonderful week, Ali 🥶☔️🇨🇦
Thankyou so much . I expect your weather is much colder than ours though! Log burner on tonight after after a lovely roast, The chickens had a lovely sunflower head today and were enjoying it very much. Tilly ❤️
Love the rooster ornament, Lovely horse radish harvest, great looking leeks, the cape gooseberries caught my attention - I'm going to try some next year!♦
Nice looking mooli, we have been harvesting some too. Interesting to hear you roast them, I’ll have to give that a try. Love the weathervanes, they look fab ❤️
@@RichardTaylorgardening Chickenguard kindly sent us a free door/timer when we had less than 500 subs, and Beckymetal have sent these weathervanes. I would still say we are a small channel, but perhaps they enjoyed our positive and friendly content, hence the nice surprises from them ☺️
