I think these custom guards are great for roughing out long hair. It’s always best to start of with the largest comb guards then reduce in size each time. Then scissor and blend near the end. Just wish the larger ones where more available to purchase.
I actually have seen longer guards that go up to 6 inches I believe. They're for animal hair cutting so i'm not 100% sure if they will fit a normal clipper or not
The 2 inch would be perfect if Wahl made it with the proper #of teeth in the comb(clip) and not the generics with 5 teeth. I been cutting hair/doin fades for years and accumulated so many different clips, I only keep them if they fit Wahl Pro.
Nice. I've been looking at cutting comb over for my son's hair and all these cuts are basically triming the top with scissors. Just thought, well all that cutting is basically the same as having a long guard/clip.... boom! Came across your video. Thanks!!

I like to use American Crew Fiber. It may feel thick when you scoop it out, but it breaks down when you rub it in your hands and leaves your hair feeling somewhat soft with still a good amount of hold. Matte finish i believe

I just got the same set of 3. I've been using just the clippers that came with my kit for years but I grabbed these to get a longer cut and I'm amazed you even got the things to cut. The design once in hand is total shit. My hairs about 3" and they hardly cut more than a few mm for each guard. All three guards just don't cut for shit for me. I've never had this happen either with regular guards. For the first time in over 15 years I gotta go get my hair cut so it can be corrected...😂
I get a skin fade on the sides but this was grown out a couple of weeks. So I would probably recommend a 4 on the very top of the sides, a 3 in the middle of the sides, and 2 on the bottom of the sides for this look I had. Or you coukd just try a 3 on the top half and a 2 on the bottom half of the sides
LOL. People terrified of scissors. I just did my second haircut of my life. I bought the Wahl Chrome clipper set which came with hair clips and scissors. And I bought a set of blending shears for $20 on Amazon. The first time I just used the clippers on the sides moving down from a #7,6,5,4,3. for the top I followed the videos with the most views on how to cut a half inch off the top with scissors. Lastly I took the blending shears and just smoothed out the hard edges between what was cut with clippers and the regular scissors. Several people asked me what illegal backyard barber shop I just came back from. Lol. then I Just practiced doing tiny touch ups over the next few weeks. I think I can get it done in half an hour taking my time.
@@smacker96 yeah it's kind of a pain going to get your haircut every couple of weeks to maintain it lol. I'm going to get my hair buzzed down to a 5 on top and fade on the sides next week. I've never had a line up so I want to see what it's like
LanDope I just got a combover with a fade. The top is about a 5 and looks pretty nice. If you get a skin fade your beard would compliment it nicely. Do you do your own fades?
@@smacker96 nice man! I have before but i always mess up bledning the 2 with the 1 open (1 1/2) so it usually ends up leaving a hard line that i have to go back and go over with the number 2 a few days later lol plus i always end going higher than i'd like
Nice video. I need 3" on the top but they are not available. I saw a guy he made that himself with a 3D printer. So surprise that no one makes them to sell. If I am a businessman I would produce these mega size clipper guards.
I have actually seen 3 inch clippers, but they are intended for pets. I'm not sure if they will fit normal hair clippers but I am curious to try sometime

I only have Wahl hair clippers (not beard trimmer) so i can only speak on experience with wahl. I do have a 1.5 inch guard as well but i can't give the link because they are sold out at the moment

Can a girl with hair laying flat on top of head use this clipper? I know nothing about this hair device. Wanting to have cut off 3-4 inches from my 6 inch
I read your other comment. I honeslty don't remember the model of these clippers especially now since I gave them to my brother. I do have a higher end wahl clippers, Wahl Magic Clip. I believe this will work with pretty much any wahl model though
Hey bro, my hair is like down to my shoulders but roughly from the ends i want to just cut about a inch off by just running it from the hairline area to the back. Which guard could i use for this? I just simply need to trim off about a inch on all the ends for religious reasons.
If you want just an inch off your current long hair, you could just use no guard and cut off the ends with that. I don't believe there are guards that leave hair that long. The longest guard I have and have seen is 3 inch

I don't think there is a 17, but there is an 18 guard. Thing is you'll most likely have to buy it in a large guard pack for about $25 but I believe it's well worth it since it comes with a 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24

I always mess up my hair and fail to explain what I exactly i want lol...i had man bun during this quaratine but then we caught up in lockdown here in melbourne and i ended up cutting my hair at home and now they are uneven and looks weird
# 16 will fit perfectly width wise, but the base of the guide comb is just a bit too short to fit over the Oster blade base. You can carefully cut the clip on tab off if the #16 and use electrical tape to secure it. I’ve done that and it works excellent,
@@dwho432 the 16 was just barely to short for my wahl clippers so i kinda forced it on lol took a few minutes. So, I might pick up a set of oster clippers from my friend tonight so i'll try it and let you know
@@LanDope Paulo said it the bottom of the guard won't fit on the Oster so I'm going to cut the tab off and tape it to cut the top of hair. Saves 20$ for a cut and the guard was only 6$ and I can reuse. So hopefully the tape will do the job. Thanks!

LanDope yes i have noticed however once i checked 2inch clipper i noticed the head of it”head where u plug it inside machine” is different from other wahl products, like if i buy the model 79467 , will 2inch fits in? Look at the head
@@millenniumpubg7728 I do not own that model so I honestly cannot give you an answer. I will tell you that I also have another Wahl model and it fits a little better on that one than the one in this video. So in my opinion I would buy it and try it. You can always send it back if it doesn't fit
