That's bullshit. I have a phone I got for 140€ (around 170$) with a capable CPU, 2018 Android OS, fingerprint and face scanning and compatibility with every other device I use. Also, Play Store, with all the apps I could need. 4G and VOiP as well. I am not missing the point, I get that the phone is trying to be simpler so you don't keep looking at it the entire day, but it should cost around 100$, charging people 300$ for a phone that would be barely passable in 2009 is fucking nuts.

i like this idea especially if the second version delivers. this would also be a good training phone for kids and teaching them to manage an early social life. i had a crummy flip phone till i was 15 and it definitely helped me to not rely on my phone when i got my first smart phone.

I like that a lot. I just went a day and a half without my phone cus it stopped charging and did not miss it. Calling people is practical and having directions is also useful so I'd definitely use this if my carrier worked with it

I'm 21 and have never had a smart phone (a friend recently gifted me his old iphone 4 but I mostly just use that to listen to podcasts at work). I currently own an old blackberry style "burner" phone that I use to have 30 second conversations with people when I need to. The biggest appeal of this phone for me is the size; my phone, as small as it is when compared to recent smart phones, is still a little bulky, so this actually does meet what I'm looking for when it comes to phones.

I’ve been wanting this phone (the second version) for awhile now. I love the idea behind it and the design. I do think they need to include more features that are truly practical like a calendar and a to do list etc., but none of the distractions like Facebook. I could use my laptop or tablet at home for that. I have finally stopped my Facebook addiction and will never go back. Now if only I could get off of RU-vid, lol.

I like the concept of building up from the basics. It looks like the next version is going for what Microsoft was going for with the original windows phone: get the info you need quickly and that's it, nothing to deep. That works if you keep it simple and don't keep trying to add more features to compete with iOS or android. You can't compete with them, you have the offer something they don't.

Something with directions and ride-sharing and messaging is a good added functionality. When I go to shows and festivals it would be nice to have as minimal as possible on me and I'd be nice not to worry about breaking or loosing an expensive phone. Is there an update on this phone?

I think there are some nice uses for it, but it's definitely a luxury like most other things. I'd imaging myself taking it with me instead of my phone when going out with friends for example. I wouldn't take it with me hiking though, as I might need an internet connection and a web browser for some reason.

I feel like the Light Phone 2 would make the perfect business phone, it's barebones and simple, it's functional and usable, and it allows you to concentrate on your work without any social media pings or silly game applications to waste time. I would definitely get the second version as a business phone

This could also be a good product for your kids (probably kids between the age of like 8-14) to have for emergency situations, so they can make calls without any other features an extremely expensive phone may have that you don't want your kids to have. Not to mention it could also be used as a good phone to bring to work, in my mind I'm thinking retail or fast food place, most of the time you're not allowed to be on your phone, with this you can still have a small device to make important calls without being tempted to text and play games on your phone at work.
