Love the channel! Some reggae on here would be great. Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" is absolutely amazing and a perfect place to start... "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our own minds." His lyrics are deep, his songs are uplifting and Bob did a ton to help others. Keep up the great reactions!

He has written and produced for Christina Aguilera, Milly Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Bette Midler. He was nominated for a Oscar for Mulan unfortunately didn't win. He was also nominated for a Grammy (along with No Doubt) for best rock album, they should have won that year.... but hey 14 million copies sold, and Matthew had a lot to do with helping them make their sound commercial.

The thing about the early and mid 80's that makes you go "80's" !!!!!!! Right away was the advent of the Yamaha DX7. The first successful synthesizer. EVERYBODY used one and that's why EVERYTHING sounds so much alike. Plus....electronic drums became mainstream at the same time, so....everybody hit the bandwagon and 80's pop was born essentially from everyone having access to that ONE synthesizer.
@groovydjs
@groovydjs 2 года назад
@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT Let's see if we can unroll your eyes a bit. I was clearly stating that once the DX7 and electronic drums came out, there were a FINITE number of USABLE patches on that synth and everybody tended to use those same patches, so...yeah, quite a bit of stuff had the same texture. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you were not a pro musician in the early to mid 80's. It's pretty evident that AC/DC weren't using synths and E-Drums.
@yaimavol
@yaimavol 2 года назад
But now they've moved on to voice synthesizers and every singer is a combo of human and computer and I do not like that sound. Even country songs are adopting the synthetic voice sound.

Yes! Try the English version first, so you get the story. Then follow it with the German. The English version is great - but it's just a little detached. The German version is much more emotional. Which makes total sense, because Nena's first language is German. Of course it's going to mean more to her - and us!

I always loved this song as a kid (I was 9 when it came out). I never paid attention to the lyrics, and I haven't heard it in years. Now that I listen again and pay attention to it, I realize it's kind of cool how he switches it up. At the beginning, his ex is leaving him and not looking back, because she's trying to escape her past, and her reminds her of it. So he's still wanting her back, but SHE is saying "Ain't nothing gonna break my stride." But then after the bridge he realizes he's better off without her, and needs to move on with his own life, so at the end, it's HIM saying the same thing, "Ain't nothing gonna break my stride." A love lost, but two people moving forward and leaving the past behind to tackle what comes ahead -- much cooler than I realized all those years ago.

80's pop was really great because it was both forward looking and building on pop from the past. There's tons but "The Look of Love" by ABC has the sax, has the funk, has the hooks combined in an EPIC pop song. "Choose Me" by Loose Ends has the sax and a real sultry vibe and a great female vocal with a killer chorus, a really great r'n'b song. I think you'd really like Sade as well maybe for Female Fridays. "Smooth Operator" is an all time great again with the terrific vocals and because it's the 80s of course there's saxophone!

Not 80s, but the girls would looooove "Octopus's Garden" by The Beatles. It's quirky, cute, and fun. Something you could sing around the house. Kinda like their "Yellow Submarine" is fun.

80s ... Katrina and the Waves "Walking on Sunshine" Scandal "The Warrior" ELO "Hold on Tight", "Rock and Roll is King" (Heck, all of their stuff is good.) Phil Collins "Sussudio" (anything by Phil, really) Paul Simon "You Can Call Me Al" (Cute video) Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" Tony Basil "Mickey" Joan Jett and the Backhearts "I Love Rock & Roll" Ray Parker Jr "Ghostbusters" (Great video) Stevie Wonder "I Just Called to Say I Love You" Bon Jovi "Livin' on a Prayer" It's a start anyway. 🤣

One of my favorites. I always smile and usually sing. And yes 80s, we had the best music, fashion, not hair though lol. EDIT: just thought of a good female Friday group, Bananarama. Songs Venus and Cruel Summer first come to mind.

@@davidsanders5788 as an 80s girl, I didn't. But I was always a bit of an anti-fashion kind of girl. I wore a spike with a rat tail most of high school, not to mention the very blonde streaks I had in my very dark hair.

Rob you right, you can tell when an 80s song comes on. The style of the 80's is prominent and to me, the 80's brought the second British invasion of music.

For 80's pop I would recommend The Outfield. Their songs were undeniably catchy. Everyone will recommend "Your Love" which must have been their biggest hit. But my personal fave is "Since You've Been Gone." Cheers. -JR in Miami
