A pleasure that I have no intention of giving up and especially enjoy the social side of meeting for coffees with friends etc. On occasions due to travelling etc I go without it with no issues. Also can enjoy it late at night and sleep like a baby. We all have different detox abilities for different toxins and the modern world exposes us daily to many most of which are much less enjoyable and potentially more harmful. We all have to live our lives and make choices on these issues and keep some perspective. My 3 coffee a day habit probably less significant to my health than my days as a carb guzzling low fat junkie! July 2019 & all I did was just STOP . It was hard for the first few days . 4.5 yrs later …I haven’t lit a single cigarette . I clung harder to my coffee as I also quit sugar , junk food , bad habits , night snacking , so I lie to myself and say this is all I have left it’s my mind lying to me . I’m currently on half caff strictly before noon only . Been on coffe since my aunt used to take me to work at Dunkin’ Donuts back when they wore skirts & had glass mugs . I unknowingly started my caffeine addiction at age 9 but started *needing it* in my 20s.

Under my calm demeanour a storm is always brewing. Will I be able today to handle the coffee smell in the house this morning and from my husband’s cup? As I lay still half asleep I contemplate the beginning of this day with very little hope and a cringe on my face. What else can I do to heal my histamine intolerance? I have tried everything I can think of without much success. I am trying these different diets to stop seizures started through a head injury in 2005. For 2 month I have stopped dairy, fruit, veg's, coffee & tea along with stopping alcohol 8 months ago as the low carb diet I was on for 3 months at the end of 2022 did not help. My hair has been falling badly over the last 2 months but I have only been eating red meat, lamb, seafood, bacon & eggs. I have heard other Drs saying not everyone like Dr Chaffee can stay on carnivore forever. I have been advised to add avocado, cheese & yogurt, especially if you do not want to loose weight like most who are doing this diet. What do you have with your steaks regarding keto?

Bart Kay told me Almond milk & the shake were poison so I stopped, I started a consultation with him as I thought he could help me with the exact diet but I have never finished the consult as he seems too busy. I thought of Dr Chaffee because of the seizures but he is strict Carnivore & I don't know if its sustainable for everyone. I have only just done testing with the urine strips the last few days but someone said blood test is best, not sure why they make the urine test if it doesn't work. I'm not a heavy coffee drinker so I really don't rely on it to get me through the day. I've not noticed any stiffness or soreness whether I am drinking it or not. As far as bitter? Well that really depends on the type of coffee and how you make it. I had a great cup in Portland and talked to the shop owner about their process which allowed me to dial in my process where it's never bitter. It's all a personal choice. If coffee makes you feel bad then don't drink it. That being said I've taken some time off from my morning coffee to see how it affects my next blood panel so maybe that will make me rethink how much I drink. Now giving up alcohol really made an impact on how I feel in general so staying away from that is very noticeable.

Recently I decided I wanted to focus more on hypertrophy and developed a crazy meso-cycle that I literally couldn't even complete the first week because it had me lifting muscle groups 2x a week and the volume was just too high to recover. I started carnivore about a week ago and decided to restart my cycle and to my amazement I was recovering literally twice as fast. Still had DOMS, but it was nowhere near what I had on a low carb (plant/fruit) keto diet. That's after just one week lol, the best thing is though now I can get my calories in without eating all day and it tastes so much better and is faster to cook. My protein intake is so high now I am actually able to skip protein supplements. I admit, giving up coffee is going to be hard for me as I was raised on it (from Seattle and it was the original pre-workout), but I am willing to do so if I don't need it.

I wouldn't cook with it, but if it's fresh pressed yourself then using it cold is less of an issue. Any plant oils even olive oil becomes very unstable when removed from the plant, and cooking with it makes it far worse. You speed up the degradation reaction significantly with increased temperature. Every 10° c that you increase the heat you double the reaction rate. So you can increase the speed of degradation to very harmful byproducts by millions and millions of times by cooking with plant oils. So if you're going to use the olive oil that you press freshly, I would definitely not cook with it.

According to paleoanthropologists nomadic hunters had larger brains, were smarter and much stronger than we are. The invention of farming led to shorter stature, smaller brains and a massive drop in average lifespan to between 35 to 40 years.

I wonder if the cause of the muscle soreness after drinking coffee is due to the loss of water and electrolytes it causes which results in depletion or imbalance. If I drink a bottle of water mixed with Redmond ReLyte after a cup of coffee, then the soreness and cramping will subside; it also just doesn't happen at all if I drink it just before a cup or just after a cup of coffee.

Did you catch Dr Baker's interview with a nursing home administrator? He's giving his residents as much of a keto-vore diet as he possibly can and seeing great result in terms of better cognition, more energy, etc. link: youtube .com/watch?v=QB5HwjOw2v8&ab_channel=Dr.ShawnBakerPodcast There's also a somewhat overlapping approach of diet and reducing inflammation among other targets as a precision medicine strategy to halt and even reverse Alzheimer's. It's Dr Dale Bredesen's protocol that checks around 40 markers to include CRP (inflammation), hormones (e.g. thyroid), insulin resistance, etc., and this is combined with a healthier low sugar low carbohydrate diet. Bredesen is an MD PhD academic neurologist and has published several patient studies on his protocol under NIH oversight. In his first published study, 9 out of 10 Alzheimer patients had significant improvement and reversal of dementia. Out of the 7 patients forced to retire early, 6 recovered enough to return to work (at least part time or more). BTW, Bredesen's strategy essentially formalized what some functional medicine MD physicians were already doing with success for many of their patients. I'm a medical neuroscientist and have also had success reversing and stabilizing dementia patients using keto-vore and other overlapping methods. Best to treat soon after diagnosis or when early symptoms appear, but there's still noticeable response even with patients who've had dementia for years. If you're interested, look for Bredesen's interviews and his books, especially The End of Alzheimer's which describes the protocol in detail.

I had an odd thought while listening to this vlog. What was the meal that Abraham served God and that God ate? Flat bread, because that has been the platter that hold the food in the Bedouin culture forever and pieces would be torn off and the food picked up with that piece, curds which is butter, cheese, yogurt or curds depending on the bible version selected and beef from the fatted calf. Except for the bread which was used to convey the food, all of these items were animal based. No mention of vegetables, salad or dessert. Makes me pause to reflect.

Awesome reflection, in the desert they ate Quail and Manna although what manna might have been is debatable, Quail was meat and fat. Also, Daniel refused the king's food for various reasons and he only allowed himself vegetables everyone was worried about his health but he survived because of God. I never really paid attention in Bible class to that story as a kid but a few yrs ago I was reading that and thinking about how sickly some vegetarians get by not taking in a proper amount of protein from meat and fat , it's a miracle that he survived those yrs without proper nutrition in those days.
@merrymarthlamb3185
@merrymarthlamb3185 Год назад
@@stacyketner My opinion here, but I think Daniel refused the king's food because they ate pork and used pork skins to age their wine in. They may also have sacrificed their animals to pagan gods and then made their banquets from those meats. Something that would be a transgression of the food laws. The bible says he and his friends at pulses which are legumes like chickpeas and high in protein, and they didn't have all the processed junk that we have which many vegans eat. No tofu, TVP, cheese pizza in copious amounts. Also they did not have the nightshades like potatoes or tomatoes. I think plants today are probably more toxic than in those days. And those quail in the desert: God provided manna but the people grumbled and complained that they didn't have meat, so God sent quail in such numbers that they were easy to capture and kill. Those people who partook of the quail feast all died with the meat still in their mouths. Instead of being grateful and giving thanks to God, they died in their greed and gluttony. A lesson in being careful what we ask for. Sorry for the length.

To the purists out there and being Asperger’s I get it, a little won’t kill you. But if you think it isn’t where YOU wish to be, try cutting it out and see how YOU respond. Remember N=1 our goal is to optimize our health. I refuse to feel guilty when erythritol is touted as heart attack causing (the studies loaded the poor mice up with a carful of the stuff) when caffeine is vilified as (insert the latest study here). I will continue to drink my 20 ounces of half caffeinated coffee with 2 T butter, 3 T cream and 1 one gram package of stevia/erythritol for dessert. Sometimes we go on and on about stuff but I am drawn to the philosophy of Dr Eric Westman more and more. He has successfully rescued so many metabolically unhealthy folks with moderation as his key preaching. PS I enjoy your videos for the overall goal of becoming meat based and appreciate that you always preface your recommendations with “This is what happened to me” Thank you for sharing your story.

The question to ask which you'll never know the answer to is how would she be without coffee? Vegans tell me all the time they are perfectly healthy on plants and therefore plants aren't harmful. But have they experienced life without plants? No. Coffee won't kill you but that's not proof it's better than not having it at all

I just lost my mother at the age of 93. She also had no signs of heart disease, and was still pretty physically active... She would go out and garden, etc. She ate The standard American diet and got a blockage from eating too much fiber. They had to go in to remove the blockage and at that time septis got into her whole body and she died. So fiber is deadly.

Just curious Louise~ Are "snags" sausages by chance? By "rump" do you mean beef rump roast? My experience w/coffee has been interesting as I've been a coffee drinker~ 2-4 a day~ for decades. I'm finding that has decreased to now just one coffee w/creamin the morning, & often I don't finish it. It has begun to make me feel anxious/sketchy, & is no longer appealing or desired. Time to simply give it up, in my case. Only water besides that, meat-based for 2 yrs, low carb for several more prior. Also, never cared for eggs at all, & now I enjoy them several times a week. Interesting how the palate shifts. The longer I eat meat, (& animal products) the more I want only meat. The longer I drink only water, the more I want only water. *Also quit a 30 yr diet soda habit, which was at least 2 a day ...all that time~ errgghh. I feel pretty awful about what I fed my precious body all those years, thinking I was healthy w/all the low fat/high fiber/lean protein.

Hey Anthony, big fan of yours and the lifestyle you promote. Do you recommend any iodine supplementation on the carnivore diet such as potassium iodide/Lugol's/kelp - or is it unnecessary when you're not consuming caffeine? Ive read there's an inverse relationship between caffeine consumption and iodine. Thanks!

I wanted soooo badly to keep coffee in my diet but, I kept getting gut issues, scalp and skin crawling with rashes. On top of that, I think that I feel over stimulated now. Animal products, minus dairy only seems the most sensible. I am currently on a long water fast to facilitate more healing so, no coffee did not affect me as far as withdrawals.

When you think about it, if human beings are meant to be carnivores and we can't cope with all the sugar and other things in plants, then maybe diabetics aren't sick people at all. If it is normal to not eat plants then their bodies are just reacting to to eating something that they shouldn't be eating
