The 2023 Ford F150 Lightning Lariat trim is such an awesome truck. You can even take a road trip with confidence. If you leave it in sport mode, the regenerative braking will help extend the range.

One of the first calls I made before buying my Lightning was to my insurance agent; it turned out it was only a little more expensive than the insurance on my previous vehicle, a 2012 Kia Sorento. We were both surprised it wasn't more, if only because of the value of the vehicle. I won't bother with the price because there are LOTS of factors which affect it, including deductible amounts.

Live in Canada , and it went from 1350 on a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 with an MSRP of 94500 . Now it is 2300 with a 2023 ford lightning platinum with an MSRP of 117500 . Saving on fuel, but they get you other ways !!

That’s good to know. Yeah it surprised me too how cheap it was compared to how much I thought it was going to be. Although, insurance in general keeps going up here in Colorado Springs for sure.

We have insurance through Farm Bureau. We live in North east TX. This is our run down: $109 per month full coverage for my 2023 Chevy bolt 2LT $134. Per month full cov for the wife’s 2024 7 passenger 4 runner $111 per month full cov for the 2015 1 ton passenger van with the 6.0 liter LS and 6 speed Allison transmission $75 per month gen liability for our 16 yr old sons 2007 mustang V6 with a manual transmission $66 per month gen liability for our 20 yr old son 2009 Honda accord (he’s in college) $125 per month full cov for our 19 yr old daughters 2017 Chevy bolt base

Hey Mike, thanks for making this video. I'm tired of those youtubers saying crap about evs, and insurance cost is one of them. Ev insurance price is not very different than gas car insurance.

If you have a clean driving record. No tickets or accidents: I pay $523 for My lightining, and $567 for My Tesla Model 3 and $764 for my Moidel S. That's Every 6 mos.

My insurance went down with my 2023 Lightning compared to my gas GMC Sierra 2500. I'm out in Park County, CO and I'm paying about 570 or 94ish a month. It was not what I was expecting. I thought the cost would go through the roof with my truck, but it was not bad. Also, no kids on policy, that's always sky high, especially for boys. I feel your pain.

Thanks Brian! Yeah kids on a policy is crazy. We did have my daughter on the lower policy number that I talked about, but I forgot the timing on that so I forgot to mention it, which is probably why it was higher too. When she turned 18 it was cheaper to get her on her own policy so we did, but then added my son a few months later :-( Anyways that’s a great deal on yours for sure.

my insurance company won't insure Tesla's, and the best quote I got was 400% higher than my gas vehicle

That’s crazy. I’m not sure what your current gas vehicle is, but with the amount of people getting great deals on here. I’m sure there is another company you can get a great deal with.

2021 Sienna, 2 over 35yo, San Diego, CA, AAA, $1,400/yr. 2003 Yukon XL 2500 8.1, $550/yr. ($140/yr registration) I tried to math it as hard as I could, to justify replacing my towing rig (Yukon XL), but after depreciation, registration, insurance and maintenance/repairs, couldn't justify it. The Lightning insurance alone, (2,833/yr) is 21 "Free" miles a day, for me in my situation. ($4.30/gal @ 12mpg) I'm about 3 years away from starting to add kids to my insurance, really not looking forward to that. Looks like they are each going to get a Prius. Ha Ha. Thanks for the break down.

Hey Nate, thanks for watching. Yeah it may not work for you but if you are just going off of my number. Make sure you get your own estimate because it seems like your Sienna is much cheaper than mine so the Lightning might be too. Then when you add the kids give them old cheap cars with liability only :-)

Seems like you have a good deal. I’m not sure I could go without collision coverage. Colorado is so crazy with weather and a lot of drivers here don’t have insurance.

@@F150LightningMike I got collision on the lightning. I don’t have it on the F250 because I don’t drive it. It’s just insured for like a fire or somebody running into it while it’s parked.

The cost of most ev insurance policies are officially low in most states as they are subsidized by everyone else. Most regulated states give insurance companies a hard time pricing evs at the rate they should because they are pushing an electric agenda. I'm in the business and that is a fact that is never public.

Lots of shitty assumptions about my State. Sigh. Nah, I don’t pay much for insurance, if I were to be a cheapskate I’d pay $168/mo for both my Tesla and RAV4. But I can afford my EV.

My 2023 Lariat Lighting insurance cost me less then my 2022 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring. The Lariat $80,000 and the Lincoln $68,000. Kind of a head scratcher for me.
