I get loads of questions in the comments about how I get my post and parcels while being full time in the motorhome in the UK and what address I use?

I am planning on going full time, long term, in a motorhome in about a years time. I will be 55 next year and can access a pension. Its not huge but will give me enough to buy a fair used motorhome and some money each year to live on. Once I do it there will be very little chance of turning back so I am currently researching as much as possible on things like solar, laundry, water, post, gas etc so been picking up tips and fuguring out what will work for me. Keep up the good videos.

Great advice mate..just subscribed to your channel, enjoying your vids.. I did a little stealth camping last year and loved it, hoping to do it again this year 2020.. I use an astra g van, and its fine for one person to sleep in.. Love it Im sure I recognise where your parked up there.. Between Knebworth and welwyn. Shops next to the North star pub 😁👍

Informative video thanks 🙏🏻 I get mine from a shop turned mail service. They txt when post is in and I go collect. They cater for parcels and address is used for DVLA, doctors etc etc. £120 a year. Agree best thing is to plan in advance before you set off for the road. You can do royal mail post redirect longer term also. I have had ocado delivery, fruit and veg scheme deliveries and gas deliveries. Again anything is possible give address name and where u are on site and your reg number. Anything is possible when you think outside the conventional brianwashed box and exit the matrix Note roadschooling is a thing too!

A little tip for general mail, I use a site called ScanMyPost, it costs £2.99 a month and I use an address they give me in Cornwall, all my mail goes there and when they receive it they open it, scan it and send me a PDF, if it is something important I need I can request they forward it to me for an additional fee. If I don’t want it then the mail is held for a couple of months and then destroyed. Works a treat.

Amazon, eBay click&collect are fantastic for vanlifers plus someone mentioned "Poste Restante" which is great if you need post thats been delivered to a registered address because it can be forwarded to a post Office in the UK and as I have used many many times in France..You can get a PO box number too but that would be area specific unless it can be forwarded on to you, I have a locker at Storagebase and they offer an address box, same as a PO box but without there being a PO box number in the address which means it can be used (clarified) as an address for a Driving Licence, insurance and even the bank, on the Doctor issue many towns have a walk-in centre for those who aren't registered with a GP...

Helpful video Daz, and I’ve finally got another campervan, it’s lil autosleeper mezanOnly thing it lacks is a full oven, but I’ll survive 😂. It doesn’t have enough room to swing a cat, but then again swinging cats around isn’t the nicest thing to be doing 😂👍. Also I popped down to your motorhome friends in reading, Chris is a nice chap, they sold a van I was keen on the day before I turned up, just my luck. I also get the impression that what Chris doesn’t know about solar setups is probably not worth knowing👍

i was on the m1 last week in my van, two debt collectors from lowell finance, and 2 from moorcrocft debt were at the side of me waving shouting pull over what about your credit cards .and i orderd a pizza when i was on the m6 at manchester ,you should have seen the guy on the moped trying to keep up ..

Biggest problem is vehicle registration and Drivers Licence address. If you get caught in a speed trap or aparking ticket you get charged extra if you don't respond within a certain time.Also Insurance rates vary according to address.I would give address of trusted friend for all vehicle/drivers licence details and ask them to open all related mail and contact me if neccessary. Then give another address for all other correspondence.

I've not used amazon yet as I prefer eBay I would say tho if you haven't started Vanlife yet but you intend to in the next few months etc make sure you get your vehicle checked over so that nothing needs doing for 12 months etc And if you live in a car or intend to it might be worth getting a little trailer that you can ow to the garage etc so that you can empty the car in to the trailer and unhitch trailer at garage which makes it easier for mechanics to work on your vehicle etc without having to work round the contents of your house etc lol

Hi Dazzle, couple of questions-what address do you have on your driving licence? Is it the relatives address that you use for everything else? Also, is there an issue with Council Tax? If you're down at an address, then aren't you liable for CT? Cheers! 😊

CT would only be an issue if there was only Single Occupancy (and they get a discount) at the place he was registered. If there are more than 2 people already there he'd not add any more to the cost so wouldn't owe them any extra. I'd be more worried about his van insurance if the van is also registered there as it doesn't take much of a discrepancy from reality for an insurance company to deny a claim or effectively have no insurance for the road....for all intents and purposes he'd need to insist he lived there if anyone asked - just don't direct to this channel!

Hi Darren, just subscribed to you, your channel came up in my recommends after watching 'Many Fun Adventures' channel, you might already know it, they are just starting out with full time motorhome living, a complete change of lifestyle if you're used to living in a 'normal' house! It's not something I could do as I don't drive but still interesting to follow. You seem a down to earth sort of guy that tells it like it is! As you say you have to get used to doing things completely different, compared to the normal 'rat race' routine. This vid has answered the question I was wondering, worrying about not having a permanent address. Seems it's not really a big problem being 'a bit off the radar' Do you go to proper campsites to do your laundry etc?

You can open a Post Office (PO BOX) account priced £283.50 for 12 months (price quoted from their website 2021) They hold your mail until you collection it.🤗🤗

Hi Darren just found your channel, cracking me up. You come across a genuinely real person (slightly David Brent🤣) Don't take offence love him👍. How do you insure the van for full time living?. Not sure if you use the wild camping website, they have downloads for parking overnight and water stops. Also we got from amazon a Radar Key, use it late at night for emptying our chem loo leaving it spotless. Have you thought about a natures head composting toilet?. Get a credit card before you go in the camper van then max it out and never make a payment as they won’t know where to find you 👍

My one and only issue is the electoral roll! Credit score has gone from excellent to fair. I guess it’s not that much of a problem but it did put my car insurance up by £100 because I pay monthly and they do a credit check, any ideas??

Isn’t there a potential issue with sending your post to a relative or friend in that it could jeopardise any council tax (or whatever it is called now) reductions they have for just having one person living in the house? Forgive me if I am barking up the wrong tree here but I’ve been overseas for ages but am now looking at options back in the UK.

Hi Simon, err I’ll be honest I’m not 100% on this as all my family have more that 2 people at the addresses so it would matter, I have heard of something called a “care of address” maybe do some research into that 👍🏻👍🏻

Exactly right Daz it would be deemed a care of address for the collection of mail only perfectly above board and what many people do. If your not living at the address this will not present any problems for the occupiers in terms of claiming council tax benefits etc.

France is certainly much better equipped than this country. Some places, such as Intermarche, even have outside laundrettes where it only cost a couple of euros to wash your clothes.

I tend to use public toilets. Usually early in the morning or later in the afternoon/evening when it’s a bit quieter.

Just to add mate , one of my friends kids has just moved into a flat I rented 30 years ago (yea I am old) and he took a letter just the other day down to my mum who live a few doors away and it was junk ? Junk mail with my name on going to an address I had 30 years ago ? Go figure ?

@@alphadan3420 I knew about the canal post service for Narrowboat ers that are permanently cruising etc I didn't know about the van post service but as mentioned in this vlog it's run by the same people as canal post which I think is ok for vehicle requirements etc It depends on location etc Have a look at canal post and van post locations to see which one is nearest to your location etc

@@alphadan3420 Just had a look at uk post box It seems to offer a variety of services which a person could pick the service that best suits them as not everyone wants a uk address for Vanlife etc People will find a postal address service that works best for them and only they know what or why they need it for etc
