@@intheplums to be fair, a lot of people tend to just walk around without a pole, you know, jogging, walking, hiking and stuff. So yeah, this seems a bit more interesting.
though I had some problem with sea water It also ru-vid.comUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn
When you said Constantine the Great is "obviously the best" that expert gave you a look that was 0% irony and 100% actual strong opinions about Constantine the Great.
I'm in awe about how seemingly common a roman coin is, you're talking about something 2000 years old and they are so common and uninteresting the call them "wee's" because they throw them back?!
@@mariothingyi think it’s maybe got to do with the area. in america obviously finding old coins like that is insane but in europe that kind of thing would be much easier to find given the large scale population. it’s still a very cool find just not worth anything over there unless it’s in superb condition or somehow very rare
Pleasure to meet you Max and cheers for putting us in your video. Great work and we will see you at Summer Detectival now that you're clearly hooked 😂 😂. Chris and Bernie AKA The Discriminator Metal Detecting! ♥.
I used a metal detector in my backyard once. Found a 15th century 3 pounder cannonball. My back yard is like a 150 square meter area. _Metal detectors are amazing._
Max: "You were detecting children or you were a child?" The dude: "I were a child." Max: "You weren't detecting children?" The dude: "No, no, you can't find those." Dead 😂
I feel like this is a great metaphor for life. You start with going on an adventure, out in the world to look for treasures with purpose. Some do find things worth a pretty penny, but most of us just end up with a pile of shit. But what matters is the joy we got from finding these worthless trinkets, with our mates.
Talking about worthless trinkets, I am really (and when I say really, I mean réálly) looking forward to the day that I will visit Britain once more and be able to pull some Christmas-crackers with someone. I've heard they have all sorts of silly stuff in them.
Love your content! Really great original stuff. Have you thought about doing an episode on rowing? There's plenty of regattas around the country (including Henley of course) that I think you'd be hilarious at!
It’s not conductivity but density and magnetic (ferrous) properties that makes the difference in the tone. As far and metal detecting riches….you NAILED it! The people who get rich from metal detecting….are the people selling the metal detectors!
After seeing you randomly in my recommended I will say that after watching a few of your videos, you definitely deserve many many more subscribers than you currently have, and I will be subscribing immediately after posting this
Great video, as always! Metal detecting is a lot of fun and this looks very well organised with a nice bunch of guys but it's not all treasure, this is also archaeology. Sadly, as an archaeologist I've seen sites destroyed by reckless detectors. Would be great if you included something about how archaeologists and metal detecting work together.
Doesn't look very well organised if the two men supposed to be helping Max didn't guide him to the proper dig area, and let him dig where he wasn't supposed to dig.
Very entertaining as always 👍 never thought I'd watch a video about a metal detecting convention. Also, am I the only one getting James Veitch vibes? 😁
I do too, of course 😁 And in fact, on another video, I left a comment on how Max could make the most terrible James's roommate. I think he could conjure much worse pranks than bathroom ducks 🤣
I have a metal detector but haven't really been able to use it since *the thing* happened in 2020, so I can't wait to be able to go and find places and people that will let me finally go again. Though my detector isn't the best quality, your video has made me more excited to try it again. I went metal detecting with a teacher on his farm and found some things, most exciting was a horseshoe and according to him, there hadn't been horses in that field in 20+ years since he moved there, so that's pretty cool. We also found some rocks that for some reason, only my detector could "see", to this day I have no idea what they are but I took them home. Very fun, even finding nails and such could be cool, I'm sure someone has a use for them.
