Friendly reminder for everyone against the video series: He didn’t find her in the end, she found him. Without her getting into contact with him it would’ve reached the end of the line at her former modelling agency. We also don’t know if her name is actually Alana, Max could’ve used it as his own version of an alias for her after finding out she didn’t want to be known.
I came looking for this wisdom in the sea of comment. I’m so glad someone else thought that the name given might not be her name or a work name. She could be anywhere and someone else could have written the email for her from a phone call.
For real, I get nervous when I have to call a good trusted friend WHO IS ALREADY EXPECTING THE CALL! My social anxiety could never do what this guy does
Okay seriously I hope this doesn't encourage people to track down whatever random people they find attractive. It was a fun series at first but it just got creepy, especially seeing her response. She knew it would be put in front of a huge audience, and so she said in the politest way possible that she was uncomfortable with everything
it really wont encourage people to track down random people 1. it was a mob mentality following a story that seems funny 2. the people that were talented enough to do this I feel would have already been tracking down random people beforehand alone with no mob mentality (well, if they had the desire to do so before this whole scenario they would have and this situation won't change it) however I must admit that this situation will probably cause people to dive further into Alina's life and try to track her down personally despite Max discouraging it, thats just how the internet functions so its probably not the best idea to have this as a series, it seems fine at first until you realize the wild nature of the internet which makes it a whole lot more disturbing
So what youre saying is, it was ok until she responded. So you accepted all bahaviours until you realised her response. You must also accept that by watching the videos you made it more popular. I found it interesting and jovial and nothing more. The information he sourced is all available via the internet and has maybe struck a chord with people now they understand how easy it is to obtain.
A great representation of an internet footprint. It isn’t Max’s fault everything can be found using the internet, but I agree that you should have made it harder for people to go and find her.
Teen Struggle Haha well I guess he expected it to be like some movie scene where she agrees to meet him and they become best friends and he gets more views and subscribers from it & they both live happily ever after. Lol
t2 don’t think that’s what he expected you are making it sound like he wanted to be with her he probably just wanted an interview and did it for lols and giggles expecting never to see her again after
I mean, it's not illegally obtained information (and a lot of this was even public knowledge). But yeah,... Still. I understand that she wanted privacy!
Leona DuLac stalking doesnt have to include illegal behavior just unwanted behavior. If you wait outside a mcds for a girl to get off and talk to her everyday and follow her home. You not doing anything illegal you have every right to wait in a public space and you have every right to drive on the road but you atiill get arrested
@@bobberry1463 true, and a really good point. But I'm pretty sure that "unwanted" is a necessary component of --stealing-- stalking in most jurisdictions. And he did stop as soon as he knew that it was unwanted...
@@cfor8129 he stopped trying to find her as soon as he he knew. I guess that would count as stopping, yeah? But I really wish he hope he didn't share her real first name and I wish he hadn't revealed her home country / where she lives.
SPI: When I was in my third year of high school I had a best friend who then left at the end of the year. She still had her social media so I assumed we'd stay in touch but the last message I ever got from her was that she was living in a Welsh commune - that was like 4 years ago now. Haven't been able to contact her since. It's like she's completely disappeared...
@@streetyboy6910 so my main platform with her was KIK but that fizzled out ages ago. Her Instagram hasn't been updated in years and years and she hasn't read or responded to my DMs in years either. Those were the only two :/
Not really, all it would take would be someone not desperately online obsessed (there's plenty of us about to varying degrees), and she wouldn't have have a clue it was happening, and wouldn't have a footprint to trace. All the other blocks would be identical; the pure unlikely coincidence of someone who actually knows stumbling on it, and all the legal blocks for security and confidentiality. I would suggest it would have been absolutely no harder to find someone who didn't mind being found but matches my description above as it would be someone who didn't.
No, that's not always the case. The voice actors for Harry and Heather from Silent Hill come to mind, they were just living their lives and never realized how popular they were.
Sevina Lee Right! He pulled so many people into this stalking experience it’s crazy. And when someone said “you’re persistent” he took it as a compliment. Creepy creepy
@@wyterabitt2149 I agree. I'm basically nonexistent on social media. I have an old Facebook Account without a single picture and that's it. I don't think I have anything that would make me worth bering searched like this, but I definetly wouldn't mind being found 🤷♂️ I think it's quite a funny idea and at the end of it everyones whishes were honored.
I'm not questioning your intentions at all, and I've loved a lot of your other content, but I really think you should consider taking these videos down. It's all very amusing at first, to watch such a random journey that started with pretty much no leads, but I think her response really puts into perspective how creepy (despite your well-meaning intentions), this entire situation is. This woman took a stock photograph 20 years ago, and now has apparently stopped modeling and removed herself from social media to live a private life. The stock photo did not have her name, nor the actual name of the photographer. Now, from your investigations, you've shared with hundreds of thousands of people this woman's name, her face, and roughly where she's from. Her saying she felt like she was a contestant in the Hunger Games is in my eyes a very obvious sign that this has made her incredibly uncomfortable. If I were you, once I received that email from her I wouldn't have edited and posted an entire new video detailing even more about her and how to (indirectly) get into contact with her. It doesn't matter that your fans were looking forward to it, I think the right thing to do would have been to just post a short video saying you found the woman, but she'd like her privacy, and that's that. I know you didn't go into this trying to be creepy, and I really like your other videos. But this really should be a lesson that there's a line you shouldn't cross just for views, and that even if something is done just for fun with pure intentions on your side, that doesn't mean it won't be perceived differently by others.
Wholeheartedly agree. I'm sure the intention behind this was innocent and something to achieve during lockdown, but the fact that this was posted even after receiving that response from her, and is now in public domain, is concerning tbh
I disagree, this is fruit for thoughts that he has posted it, if he didn't let people know, a lot of his fans would have been keep on researching. Isn't that more annoying?
I completely agree. Knowing full well that she did not want to be found, he *still* filmed and edited this video, with information about where she was from and what company she modelled for. This is a lot of information that not everyone would like to be so publicly known, and ESPECIALLY when they explicitly say that they do not want to be a part of this.
I completely disagree. She had her photo be in thousands of frames. I'm not saying she is not entitled to the quiet life she wants, I'm saying it's not his fault for not knowing these were her wishes. After he found out he immediately stopped.
@@ccassidy9090 If you're a model yes probably but we don't have that good of a technology yet that would allow us to find someone just based on a facetime video
Yeah but he put his face aswell as the name and face of his ex partner and sister on the internet... honestly that isn’t „nameless“. I‘m curious to know if the guy knew the facetime would be posted and whether he’s okay with ity
Come on Max, you're better than this. The first guy said he wants to remain anonymous and you showed a video of his face. Alana said she wants to remain anonymous and you revealed her job, country and first name.
razeract no lmao, the first guy said he didn’t want to be named, and she has remained anonymous - job, country and first name is so basic it would be almost impossible to find her
I really enjoyed this series but I do think censoring information from the start would have been more respectful of this woman. I know you’ve said not to contact anyone in this story, but you’ve also made it incredibly easy to do so and it’s not enough to just say that.
While entertaining, I do totally agree that caution should used. I do think it’s wrong given there’s no actual reason for him to be looking for this woman - it’s not like she catfish’s him or anything - and obviously she didn’t give consent to having her information be broadcast everywhere... I feel bad. People on the internet are dangerous and creepy, and especially given that she is a very beautiful woman, I would worry for her safety. He shouldn’t release information. At the very least if he’s going to do this he should look for people privately and only post once he’s found them and they give consent. Otherwise it’s just plain creepy and disrespectful. Like Alana said, it’s not fun for the people who don’t want to be found.
A bunch of people did, and listed her privacy as a reason for why this was massively inappropriate, especially during the second video. I can’t believe he went and even posted this video with her name and location after she asked specifically to stay anonymous. This whole series is disgusting, imo. I’m not sure why youtube is keeping stalking content up. This is stalking.
@@Hannah-nh5qj It's only illegal if you've been told to stop looking for someone by the person you're looking for, then you keep looking. It's not illegal to want to find someone who's hard to track down.
@@Hannah-nh5qj But he didn't, really, though. He gave her first name, where she was _from,_ not where she _was,_ specifically, and only her response to everyone that was still interested in this... thing.
@@Hannah-nh5qj I both agree and disagree. There is no problem in finding people without their knowledge (if you know they will be okay with it, you don't have to find them) At the moment he got the reply he got a lot of his followers looking for Sarah. With this video he shares enough information to let the viewers be satisfied and stop the search. While at the same time not giving a lot of info about her. The internet would have kept looking if he didn't shared this information.
Max, I just discovered you last week from the international security conference video, and I've been binging all your videos ever since. You are one of the most dedicated youtubers on the whole platform. Never stop.
This entire series as a whole is a beautifully crafted commentary on the blurred privacy lines that the digital age and Internet has unfortunately created for all of us. It's like a light-hearted black mirror episode and for anyone who's expressing that this is creepy and/or unsettling--so is having a Google account for RU-vid comments and posting to any social media platform such as this. The moment you click "I Accept the Terms & Agreements..." on nearly any digital service, you've given permission to a chunk of your privacy for that company. Max's search for 'Sarah' was really just an excellent example of the question we may ask ourselves of, _"how much digital information of myself is out there for the public and who can access it?"_ True privacy no longer exists if you have a digital footprint, it is all an illusion. Imagine what you can access on the *Dark Web* ...now that's terrifying. It's our individual responsibility to ensure we really do understand the terms and conditions we typically are so ready to agree to (myself included), simply to access the services provided. Great job Max! I look forward to seeing more about this.
This was quite a journey. Imagine the pressure she must have felt to actually come forward! Totally respect that she wants to stay private. But still, an amazing search!
when someone posted her photo on a subreddit, it was taken down by the mods for violating guidelines such as, you know, stalking. why doesn't youtube do the same?
Finding Sarah needs a Pixar animation movie but replace all the characters with fish ... Edit: Cheers for the likes - this was dumb but I’m glad people liked it. You absolute mad lads.
“I don’t want anyone to take this any further” and even though she’s stated she wants to remain anonymous and she doesn’t appreciate you randomly starting a manhunt for her, you still go ahead and make a video with loads of details about which model agency she worked for, where she worked for them and what her first name is? Thumbs down to this
Models are (were) public figures. Their image is legally owned and licensed out by agencies and photographers in exchange for money. Sometimes in perpetuity. So that's the choice you make when you decide to exchange money for your image. As you see, everyone involved, including this guy... ultimately was very private about a formerly public figure whose image is still publicly traded. Agencies and photographers will never give out personal information. So if people try to find someone in a particular country with a only first name, assuming it's her real first name, it will be extremely difficult.
@@jackfntwist that’s what I was thinking. The name she was modeling under doesn’t have to be her name. I had a stock model friend that didn’t use her real name modeling.
SPI ideas: finding a distant relative, finding your closest look-alike, finding a childhood best friend or internet friend that you lost contact with, finding Banksy. Honestly I would watch another stock image model investigation too.
I think all but the stock model and look alike are plausible. The stock model is just plain up creepy and closest look alike is weird too. But the banksy one is really plausible!
Now imagine an office full of this guy, they all have connection to courts and communications and medical and media, they have back end workers in all the high end tech companies who can tap into your microphones and cameras and emails...thats the government. MI6, NSA, ASIO... HIIIII! [Big wave]
Photoshop and/or deep fakes. If you can 3D a fake face onto a model you can do some texture manipulation and potentially get it just past the uncanny valley enough so it looks like a moderately attractive person.

Honestly this whole thing was creepy af, disguised by „comedy“. The poor woman is probably absolutely paranoid now. I don’t think you realize what you have done. She might actually have to deal with even more stalkers, thanks to you giving out all her information. This is literally dangerous. Probably hard for you to understand though, as you’ve probably never had to think about these things as a male.

Insaf Dahha absolutely not. It doesn’t matter if he’s a famous RU-vidr or not. The fact of the matter is, he’ll never ever know what that’s like because he’s a man, and definitely not more than the average female. @@kuhntzzz jesus no need to get aggressive.
