Following 14 years of cohosting the wildly popular series, Adam Savage is adjusting to life after "Mythbusters" and finally has some time to reflect on the show's legacy.
I just love how cnet makes like 10 videos of one interview from Adam Savage when they could just make one normal sized video and not spam my video feed
+Michael B I think that it is made so that people can watch how much they want to at that particular time on whatever device they are watching on. Take this episode for example; someone sits down for a coffee break and says: I have 5 minutes I can watch this, great and it doesnt matter so much whether you are using your phone, your tablet or your computer at work [depending upon work viewing parameters] or at home. Now if this was listed as a say 45 minuter video, people have to make harder choices about when and where to view, and remembering to view. But, I agree that trying to watch this interview in full is a real pain.
+mike Well, it has been proven that people tend to move on from videos on RU-vid after around 5 minutes. They simply do not want to watch long videos. So I am pretty sure that this is done from an analytics perspective. Simply because they know that people will watch more of their videos if they are around 5 minutes long... And more view = more money!
I realized after so long, having finally been able to see the final episode of Mythbusters. Watching Buster hurtling through a wall at supersonic speeds, and that final, very needed clip of the cement truck.. that a whole generation was over. That life is advancing. And I almost teared up at the end. It wasn't just a show but if anyone out there is like me, it was one of the few that people could grow attached to. The science was there, and there was no "Reality" element like Adam said. It was with failure always being an option. The ability to change an adapt was real. There wasn't any acting (There was, but minimal). Nothing was staged to be better than it was save for some very minor sound effects towards the end. Hell, they hardly had slo-mo until the end! I'll miss this show. It was great, and it always will be. Showing kids that science was never boring, and it always had a chance to be fun and exciting.
I love this guy, the second he stops making amazing content with mythbustets he gives us new amazing content with tested the amount of meaningful content Adam has made is amazing
Even thought they make 19 seasons once the show ended it felt so short, it’s so surreal how all of this time the episodes didn’t last that long but it still is and forever will be on of my favorite shows, I grew up on this, it’s the reason I like science, so thank you Adam and Jamie for all the hard work and the wonderful show you gave us.
Adam Savage, you are the real deal! I respect that immensely. Coming from a guy who grew up watching Wild Discovery, Mr. Wizard, and MacGyver, I wish more of television these days wasn't just emulating "fake" reality personalities in lieu real intelligent content. Why can't todays shows embrace the essence that makes their existence interesting to watch in the first place..real educational substance!!? I seriously find it crazy that most of the crap we see on TV is even popular. I have always believed that an honest process of problem solving was necessary for a good learning/entertainment show. TV these days is plagued by crap and missing the point. They focus on the drama of scripted characters more than real science, educational content, or problem solving. What you are now doing on Tested and your legacy on Mythbusters will forever live highly in my heart and give me hope that some television programs can continue to have a real impact on inspiring people to design, challenge themselves, and problem solve!
I can really relate to the "tell stories" aspect. I usually just call it "being creative", but I think storytelling is the core of what I also strive for in my careers and hobbies. Thanks Adam! =)
I've watched the show since roughly 2004. I'd watch every episode when it would come out. one of my favorite episodes is the prison one were they made lethal weapons out of paper. its sad that reality tv is killing off the good shows.
i truly miss this show it really fueled my imagination and those two guys in some weird way were like father figures to me its like your dad teaching you how to do something and since my dad has passed two years ago and along with mythbusters I've in a sense lost father figures in my life they weren't just a tv show it was more than that
+Docktor Jim I ran into Grant at a con once, he worked on that show... it was almost as fake as a "reality" show. They had crew scurrying through the yard off-camera, moving and hiding things during the builds. If you ever wondered how someone would find the exact thing they needed at the last minute, in the trunk of a car or something, it's because someone had just put it there.
moosemaimer Yeah, that was obvious. I also call bullshit on them building stuff in 10 hours. I still liked the show, though because a team would commit to a concept, then try to make it work, much like actual invention and manufacturing.
When the show started I loved it, but as it went on more and more like every other show I began to learn just like other shows it is a very control invirement. Like the show they did on Free Energy or the Moon walking or many others. They lost their soul very quickly or maybe they didnt have one to begin with....
He always struck me as much more likable and fun than Jaime, but hey, maybe that is the camera perspective and the editing. Wish you guys luck in the future, your show was awesome.
It's funny, after watching Tested and hearing him talking about his criticism of overusing word literally. I can see a bunch of pots in this video where he's thinking of a synonym for it.
MYTHBUSTERS IS OVER??!!??!! (sorry i am watching it on netflix and the episodes on there only go up to 2011) how could you adam??? :'( you should make an appearance on white rabbit project with jamie!! plz!!
+Nevets Lego is a brand name, but it's also used as a reference to the blocks themselves, and if you have more than one block, you would pluralize it. It's sort of like Kleenex...it's just a brand name of tissue, but eventually it became the name everyone used for the tissues themselves.
Nevets Well, I'm glad to finally meet you God...your omniscience is impressive. I'm glad it's only a paltry few people desecrating your sacred label. Keep fighting the good fight!
+Nevets it depends, Lego makes more than just the bricks, if he's mixing lego types, then the S is required.. if he's building more than 1 of anything out of Lego made pieces.. then the S is required... there's plenty of reasons to say "legos", as opposed to "Legos"... you never say "Legos", but "legos" is correct.
Phil Verhey Hmmm, Lego is a company, if there were 2 Lego companies then I suppose you could say Legos. But they are referring to something Lego makes such as a brick, more than one brick obviously is bricks. But this is where the confusion comes from, they are clearly thinking that the brick is a Lego, it is not a Lego it is a brick made by Lego.
tinpot1978 Tested was owned by Whiskey Media until Jamie and Adam bought co-ownership of Tested.com along with Will Smith and Norman Chan as the other Co-Owners. When Mythbusters ended. Jamie left Tested. Will Smith has also left Tested to start his own company. The owners of Tested is now Adam and Norm. So no. Adam can not just kick out everyone else on tested and just run it himself.
+projectzip he said "legos", not "Legos" ... so now I'm disappointed in you .. also... what? you have OCD? .. oh wait.. if you did, then you'd know "legos" was correct
+TheCrewgadjy so many people who don't know the difference between "Legos" and "legos" .. you don't have a context to claim that he should have said "Lego" instead of "lego" ... which is a dumb argument in of itself .. "legos" is perfectly fine.
I love this guy, the second he stops making amazing content with mythbustets he gives us new amazing content with tested the amount of meaningful content Adam has made is amazing
