I started this video having never played or seen gameplay of dj hero in my life, and spent the first minute or so in absolute confusion. By the end of the video I felt that I had gained so much knowledge that I could write a book on the subject.
I am here after your 3 year old comment and his 5 year old video.... in the same boat. having never seen it, and by the end I understood so much I could write a "how to" guide on this.
I played this after about half a decade of Guitar Hero and Beatmania, could not play it for shit compared to those too games. It's just kind of awkward control-wise.
Hell yeah! I wish more people would play this every now and then; the gameplay is super fun. You've inspired me to upload something from this game fairly soon.
I know I'm late asf but here's a few things about the controls. Basically simple button presses are done on the spin-ting/disc and work the same way as guitar hero, except only 3 buttons. Now, moving the disc in a quick back and forth motion over a small area is how you do the beats with the arrows, up and down respectively. On the side of the controller you have a "mix area", where you have a slide (which is what you do to switch/extend the tracks off to the side in certain areas, but also cancelling the sound from the opposite side, you can also use this for the little spikes on the blue/green tracks) You got a little dial, which is how you make the sound effects warbly in the areas with the red arch over the notes. You have a sound effects button which you can only use on the big red areas that look different from regular notes, and you can play various effects, one being the "YEAAAAAHHHH BOOOOIIII, at the end. You can sorta see it glowing red during the song. And finally, back to the disc, whenever there is a green rewind button over the multiplier score, you can spin the disc backwards in one full rotation to rewind the mix. This gives you a chance to earn more points from the area you just performed. It's fully up to you when to do it, preferably over a difficult/big point area or bonus area
jeez activision needs to bring back dj hero... with the rise of the rhythm games community and the success of the other games they should give it another try.
Activision tried with Guitar Hero Live, sadly the kids known the songs of its soundtrack, but haven't play Guitar Hero ever in their lives... On the other side the people who played Guitar Hero tltles back in the day, know nothing about the soundtrack and it wasnt attractive to them, at least for me...
The music selection isn't trash lol you just don't listen to the music from the game spazz. It came out slightly too early. The biggest edm boom in america happened after the release of dj hero 2. So if it had a delayed release a lot more kids would have been into it . Guitar was always a popular instrument but electronic music was starting to become popular on the mainstream just slightly after this series died off.
hey alec i was wondering if it would be possible to have a dj hero clone on pc since there was a clone for guitar hero 3 and there's clone hero as well
It's been how long since this game came out, and I still think I'm living in an alternate reality. No way this game was even thought about before we crossed over.
I'll always remember that during one of the songs in the game it cuts to a billboard advertising the movie "book of Eli" I never hear anything about that weird ass product placement during the middle of a dj hero song.
That happened to me, the crossfader plastic grip broke and then it was just a metal stick, I still used it though lol I had an unhealthy addiction to this game
That's called rewind; you'll notice a rewind symbol above the multiplier. When you get a good streak going, the symbol turns green. You can use it by spinning the disc around backwards and it takes the mix back by a few seconds, allowing you to score more points.
NunoVH it takes the mix back last checkpoint at the start of a "section" marked by the little triangles on the side of the track. sometimes if you do it at a bad time it'll literally only take you back 3 notes
