You have probably mentioned Jim Butcher before but I don't remember that. I might read the first one or two books and see what I think. I do enjoy long series. I love all of Michael Pollan's books! I have read some of them several times. I especially really enjoy Cooked and In Defense of Food.
Yes, I'm a massive fan of his Dresden Files series!! I enjoyed from the start, but I will say I probably didn't become obsessed until about book 3 when you really start to see things from the earlier books start to come up again.
Thanks for another great book review video! I'm interested in checking out House Made of Dawn. I read quite a few Indigenous authors but most of them are from (what is now) Canada. I would be curious to check out the story telling stylistic difference and similarities. I can't even remember what I've suggested in the past, aside from Mary Roach so please forgive me if I repeat something. Some of my beloveds include: Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald, Cruddy by Lynda Barry, Nobody Cries at Bingo by Dawn Dumont, We Are Never Meeting in Real Life by Samatha Irby, every single thing by David Sedaris (I hope he puts out something new soon). Since you like Mary Roach you might also like Oliver Sacks. I'm such a huge fan of him. I don't often get super sad about "celebrity" deaths but he was such a brilliant, cheery, beautiful person. Ohhh, The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson! It's definitely not to everyone's tastes and I will tell you that I was reading it during a time in my life where I was dealing with chronic pain that literally had me bed bound for awhile, and if you do read the book you'll understand that connection. It's a lovely bit of magic and fantasy interwoven with the harsher realities that we all face at different times (pain, loneliness, grief). Back to listing: The Golem and the Jinni by Helen Wecker, The Sasquatch Hunter's Almanac by Sharma Shields, Geek Love by Katherine Dunn, The Son by Philip Meyer, Self by Yann Martel. Do you read Margaret Atwood? I love sooo many of her books, especially some of her stuff from years ago. That's a lot...I should get off here and go read!
