What Amanda the Adventurer 2 Hides in the Demo 

The "microscope" is a microfiche. A tool I've used when younger. It let's you view a negative from a photo on a large screen without any need for computers. Old magazines, newspapers and stuff used to be archived this way prior to computers.

I think that mysterious figure is Sam. If you look at his neck, the skin is brown. Plus the original game never confirmed if Sam was dead or not, just that he disappeared/went missing. He could've gone into hiding to avoid the media and he's wearing a mask over his face so that no one recognizes him and starts asking questions.

Standing in a trash can in a library is certainly... glorious.

Maybe they removed the head on purpose to not spoil it, maybe its wooly or a different entity

If you press T in the menu screen your camera changes to a random part of the map
