What an INCREDIBLE days detecting to round off the year with SILVER, silver and more SILVER!! Deus 2 

Hi John… I had commented a couple weeks ago as my mum was born and raised in Falkirk, directly across the street from a park that hosted the great Battle of Falkirk,. I was too young to remember but I played in that park when I was just 4 years old. Boy John, would I love to get a coil over that soil! But mum not doing so well, she zones out just staring ahead. But… on Xmas we together watched one of your videos and she was excited and fully engaged the whole time, asking questions and making comments. Hi John. The foreign coin is 20 Kopeken, from the russian Kaiserreich, Kaiser Nikolaus II. 50% silver. The whole world was gathering on your field😊 Congrats. You find more coins on one tour than me in 6 month.

First back after the vid… 38:39 I believe that’s a Russian empire silver 20 kopeks 1915 it was minted 2 years it’s 50% silver the obverse has double headed imperial eagle the writing is Cyrillic the ruler at the time was nikolai II. Brilliant day, John. I think you and Simon bring each other luck. I'm not the guy to give you history lessons. But I think the Brits pulled out in 1921, and the Republic of Ireland was established in 1922. But it was a quasi independence where they were still in the Commonwealth and accepted the Monarch. Their Civil War continued well into 1923 and the U.K. did not recognize Ireland's total independence until 1949. I may not have it totally correct, but it was something like that. Cheers.

Hello John. I really enjoy watching your channel! Thanks for creating such interesting and entertaining content. I have a question about permissions and the treasure laws in the UK. First, what is the deciding factor on whether you have to report a treasure find? Is it purely a certain age like 200 years or older, or is it value? It seems like a relatively modern gold coin wouldn't be particularly historically significant from an archaeological standpoint, so do you have to turn those in? Also, when detecting on a permission, is there a standard agreement between you and the landowner as to who gets what? It seems like a bummer if you have to fork over all the best finds:)

Well done. Nothing better to start the day than a silver surprise. When the ground freezes, I would very much enjoy a look back at finds that you took to the museum and what the museum had to say about the artifacts. The token systems of local currency was fascinating. The flax seals stories were also fascinating. You are so good at telling stories and that seems to do retail with your other business tour guiding. I would also be interested in deeper, or more general information about flax growing in PERTHSHIRE. Was there a golden age of flax growing. Was flax part of the industrial weaving boom? Or did cotton imports replace local flax? How did agricultural focus change during WWII blockades? Thank you for making interesting perspectives from the tiny tangibles. And thank you for the adventure, surprise and sharing of the joy of discovery.

Hi John, at 17:46. You can fix the control box slide mount with a quality cyanoacrylate super glue. Make sure it is the liquid type and the professional grade glue not the watered down cheap stuff. Not the Gel stuff either! Will last a few digs until you get the new fitting

That odd European coin was actually a 1915 silver Russian Empire 20 Kopecks. That is a gem of a coin because it dates back to when Czar Nicholas Romanoff and his wife Alexandra were ruling Russia. We know what happened to them. Your coin dates to 2 years before the Russian Revolution. Well done and a Happy New Year to you, your family, Simon and all the other Detectorists out there in Perthshire!!
