There is so much more to being a funeral director than just embalming and selling caskets. Not many people say this, but that has always been my dream job, working in the funeral industry. Not sure which area of it, but you probably get to do many different jobs. Bless you for your fine work.

Very informative, as always! So, I’m wondering- are the positioning blocks covered by the cloth in the casket? Or are they no longer needed at that point? Thanks!

Thank you Kari for being so informative and respectful as always! I'm so glad I found your channel & subscribed! I just went to my cousin's wake the other day, & while I was there, and paid my respects to her during the viewing it made me feel more comfort, rather than feeling scared or let's say uncomfortable. I kept thinking of all you taught me as I looked at her, the process of the services, the internment which were excellent by the way. I just have one question, it actually pertains to this video, I know you said you don't want to position the head "star gazing" which I agree & would look weird, but how come their chins are always positioned so low, as if it's almost touching their chest? Is this not to show any incisions because of embalming or just what the embalmer prefers? Thanks again, Kari! You helped me get through a TOUGH & SAD week with all I've learned! 💜🙏

@@KaritheMortician Thank you so much for the reply! That helped a lot. I've seen many loved one's heads/chins positioned that way and although they still looked beautiful or handsome and peaceful, it just seems a little "off" to me. But I never thought of the pillow aspect. Thanks again for helping me. I genuinely appreciate all that you do. ❤🙏❤

Thank you Kari for your always informative videos about things that were never discussed much within the general public regarding the funeral profession, so many were left without the knowledge of all the aspects involved in embalming and preparing the deceased. My Great, Great Grandfather, F.M. Long, was an "undertaker" as they called the profession back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. He lived and worked in West Chester, Ohio, just slightly north of Cincinnati. He died long before I came into the world, but the funeral business has always been extremely interesting to me, even considered it for my career, when I was still in high school. Guess it's just part of my genetics. I was a little lost in this video and it sounds like several others were too. Just for clarification, the blocks are primarily used during the embalming and prep process, right? That would be before the second rigor sets in? Is that correct? Once the second rigor occurs, then the body will remain in the positions you have set and the blocks are then taken away for casketing? Also, would you do a more detailed video explaining the dressing of the deceased and how it's accomplished after rigor has set. I would think this a most difficult task and would be best done with two people working together dressing the deceased. I am so pleased that over the past 25 or 30 years more and more females have entered the funeral profession, which was greatly needed. Thanks so much for your dedication to your calling and for the compassion and respect you show to the deceased, their family and friends.

When would you use one for a removal? Usually the family has said their goodbyes before tranfer to the cot, and an elevated head would be less stable than laying flat.

Miss Kari, I did ask this question before. If I requested to be put in the casket with my head on the opposite end, because I am left handed and marked in many different ways. In my life I am more comfortable sleeping on my left side. Are their regulations about that? What would I need to do to make it happen? Thank you!

Hey Kari this is the first time if chimes in and I have a question. When my mother passed from cancer she was very thin when I touched her arm it felt like she had some sort of harness on her? Can you explain to me what that was and why they would have used it. Love your videos
