What is Pallor Mortis and when does it happen in the Stages of Death?
Photos used in this video were acquired from online and the original source could not be identified. The photos were not acquired through my work as an embalmer or funeral director.

When I worked in a nursing home I unfortunately witnessed the death experience quiet often and more times then I can count. In some of our patients their dark brown eyes began turning blue shortly before death. I always knew that after that happened that death was near.

Wow for real?! Like babies are born with blue eyes? It reverses at death? My theory is we go thru a "recycling" process and as u die ur energy transfers into a new life elsewhere! Kind of like reincarnation like a butterfly metamorohisizes!

I noticed this on my dad after he passed at home, a thin film on his usually brown eyes, made them appear blue, thanks for the explanation.

I so enjoy your videos, Kari. They are informative and interesting. If I am unable to return to my nursing career in obstetrics, I will seriously consider the funeral industry. The two big transitions in our lives, birth and death, have always been fascinating to me.

I'm an old nurse 😄😄. I've seen lot's. Of death but , when my husband died , it seemed like his body looked like it was made out of wax. I had never noticed that before ; I mean immediately after death. Maybe , because of the close connection, I was just more observant. Your thoughts. Thank you.

So pollormoris is the whitening of the skin. If in a cold climate will that process be slowed down. It sounds like you had to take a lot of anatomy.

I was with my grandmother as she died. This process of pallor Morris actually started before her heart stopped beating. It began first in her feet and then became noticeable in her hands. Is that the same thing or another process?

Kari Northey thank you for telling me this. The information I had about it beginning shortly before she died came from her hospice nurse. I’m not speaking down about that nurse, I just like to have correct information for myself.

Looks like lot of us Nurses watch you. Been involved in many many deaths of all kinds. As a person is dying we can tell by the mottling of their toes, feet, gradually working its way, lower legs...Will see early mottling back, etc...Is this considered pre Pallor Mortis? Weve only defined in clinical terms, but is there another name by chance?

How long does this stage last before it turns blue(?) or something else happens? Or does the body stay pale?

Is this the same as liver mortis?
@fredhill3565
@fredhill3565 6 лет назад
Kari Northey thought so. Livor Mortis happens around two hours after death. The blood start to pool in the body where you see the purple on the back of the arms, legs and body. If I remember right Rigor Mortis happens around 8 hours after death but there are reasons that it would happen sooner. Is this correct?
