The original game for me was $7 so I did buy it too despite knowing nothing about the game. A week later I bought the Platinum pack for $10. I enjoyed it so far.
My gf made me buy the game recently and your tutorials have really helped me to properly play the game. I usually don't play strategy games like this so your tutorials have been a great help.
7:20 It would also allow to place a Commercial Hub on the place of Stone resource, to get a ton of gold from adjacencies. It may not be that useful in a normal game, but still, extra gold is nice and the Capital will probably be one of your largest cities, so you can afford an extra district or two. Plus if you're playing with Owls of Minerva, you can get a trade route for both Commercial Hub *and* Harbor, so it would be absolutely great.

Another important factor to consider in higher difficulty is defence especially on higher difficulties. A city surrounded by plains is far harder to defend than hills or a couple of mountain tiles.
Khmer I'd consider settling two tiles to the NE (the 2-0 tile) and then put my second city on the plains/hill tile but I think of this as a 3* start. Montezuma I'd settle the tobacco and put my second city somewhere to the north. (At first I liked Pachacuti's start okay but Anton Grigoryev convinced me otherwise.) Yeah Cyrus is pretty terrible but I'd settle the maize and go for the plantation pantheon.
20:40 That's actually a terrible start for Pachacuti. Well, it's not terrible in general, and therefore not terrible for them, but it's hard to get use of their unique abilities with it. Terrace Farms can only be built on hills, and there are none. So your mountains are kinda useless to work on without Terrace Farms (a tile with only 2 production isn't good), and you basically lose on two of your unique features, the best ones btw, in the first city at least.
I guess just based on starting location that last one is really bad but if you look at it from the pantheon stand point you can get lady of reeds and marshes and get that extra production on all the flood plains tiles and since you have the incense you will get it that much faster so its really only bad for a small portion of the game then I would think you'd explode with production. I am still very new but that's how I'd perceive that start.
I'm going to need to look up a vid on "districting," or techniques for placing districts. I've also gotta figure out how you do those little markers for where you plan to put your districts or wonders. Also, what are your suggestions for placement of cities past your first one? I know a lot of the same ideas apply. But how far appart is a good idea? Didn't know City Center counts as a district. Thanks. That will change a few things for me.
A Lady Six Sky would have been an important one. Trying to plan the next cities as well, if you settle on/near coast with her that takes away a big portion of her ability
Also went into Civ6 cause of the discount got it for my friends for Christmas to play together. Soo im probably dim but I kinda don’t understand the video xD So I understand number one super most important ever thing is source of housing, ok sure get it. And then during the video he has a chance to settle multiple times with +3 housing (which according to rule numero uno is super best ultimate start) and he either doesn’t settle there or says its a bad start! America i am confusion. Like 7:15 start has river AND coast and 7 little icon thingies (which im guessing are super cool resources you can mine) but somehow its “just ok” 🤷🏼♀️ or with japan- coast AND river AND stone and tea and different luxury resources and he says it’s somehow “BAD START” same with korea- river and coast and fun resources around and somehow this one is “TERRIBLE” im not saying he is wrong i dont know the game I just don’t understand how it works at all we set some ground rules on the start of e video and then completely abandoned it? God help me I will never be able to play this game
