What Are The Golden Eggs? 

There’s a pattern in the series A war against each other for energy or electrical power.

If Golden Eggs hatch into Goldies, then it would make more sense for Mr. Grizz to set up a Goldie farm than to constantly collect them from Salmonids. However, this got me thinking. What if Golden Eggs require incubation in Salmonid habitat to hatch into Goldies? This would make sense and also provide an answer to why Goldie farms don't exist: it could be simply impossible for the living conditions of Salmonids to be recreated on land. This would likely be due to a mix of different reasons: the ocean of the Splatoon universe is highly polluted and a sickly shade of green in the places where Salmonids spawn. This is likely to mean that nobody has successfully been able to research the habitat of Salmonids. Another reason could be that, even if the knowledge of Salmonid living conditions is known, it is completely infeasible to attempt to recreate such habitats in a controlled environment.

I gotta say this is probably my favorite Vasko video made. It was more straight to the point than most Game Theory videos I know of.

That is a really good theory. I't weird that there isn't much explicit salmonid lore in the game. It must be because Mr Grizz is trying to keep them a secret to protect his shady business. I started a new job last week at a juice factory. They do not allow you to bring any recording devices (such as smart phones) into the facility. I bet it's because they would get busted for breaking some safety regulation.

I think a Goldie is what hatches from the golden egg if it survives and I also think that the reason why there so rare because the eggs that salmonoids rescue are used for tech and the abondond golden eggs become wait for it......goldies boom

What if the Salmonoids is an invaded species that's populating way too fast. Think about it whenever you play salmon run there's never a slow down on Salmonoids. Plus that's probably why Mr.Grizz want them and probably not just because he's greedy. He knows that if you don't get them golden eggs then Salmonoids will overrun inkopolis (at night) and they can't defeat them purely because there's just too many Salmonoids and boss Salmonoids.

So if we assume that Goldies lay Golden Eggs, does that mean that all Goldies (or at least all Goldies sent out to fight) are female? Plus, the eggs are already fertilised, so does that mean the Salmonid army is just sending out a bunch of fish-mums-to-be?? Also, I guess this means we can draw a direct comparison between Golden Eggs and Zapfish... so is a Goldie equivalent to a normal Zapfish, or a Great Zapfish? Or maybe the Golden Eggs are used more for their chemical energy as opposed to the electric Zapfish? Plus, can Golden Eggs be used up, and run out of energy? Does the lifeform get hurt or die if this happens? Maybe even the use of Golden Egg energy affects the development of the Salmonid inside, since it could be using that to grow before hatching?! Good grief, this is turning into another episode of "Have You Ever Wondered"...

This was an awesome vid Vasko! Concise and very intriguing. But, have you ever thought that Mr. Grizz could perhaps be the main antagonist in Splatoon 3. Grizzco manual says that Goldies are a whole lot smarter than your average Chum. Maybe they design boss Salmonid gear, or run whatever society lurks beneath the tide?

Golden eggs are a power source much like zap fish. gizzco is trying to use them as a new source of power for inkopolis but the samonids disagreed [for ovius reasons] and fight back.

Based in your explanation, 1:10 makes a lot of sense because it is stated that in the game, when the octarians moved to the underground, overtime they lose power. Relying on other power sources like zapfishes and you guessed it. Power eggs and golden eggs (the octarians would prefered the golden eggs more because of it's energy to power the kettle lairs)

I know somebody has already said something similar, but my opinion on what golden eggs are is slightly different. I think golden eggs are fertilized power eggs, because of the fish skeleton inside of them. More important salmonid have more golden eggs to pass better genes onto their children. The theory about power/energy could tie into this as well, because boss salmonid could hold onto their eggs in battle to power their weapons until the eggs hatch. Maybe that's also the reason that salmonid only trade power eggs, because the golden eggs are both a source of power and, well, more troops! I just wanted to say that, sorry to anyone who said the same thing!

What makes Goldies more significant is that they’re more intelligent than the rest of the Salmonids, so there’s gotta be some sort of hierarchy in the Salmonid society

Here is more information for the 1 gold egg = 100 power eggs. In the Goldie entry of the Salmonoid Field Guide, it says “only about one in 100 salmonoids are Goldies” or something like that. -And sanic is still in the square xD-

When the salmonids hatch from the golden eggs only 1 in 100 (could be more) hatch as a Goldie. It’s in the Goldie page in the grizzco training manual (I think...I found this information a long time ago so I can’t properly remember it but I think that’s where I found it)

I personally believe that Golden eggs are in fact just like any other egg. Goldie’s being hatched from a golden egg is not a guarantee. It’s cannon that 1 in every 1000 (or more) chum is a Goldie. If there’s a splatoon 3, the Salmonid menace might actually be a huge threat. Notice how the Ruins if Ark Polaris is so unusually close to a city unlike most other locations. Mr. Grizz isn’t a threat, he’s trying to help us, help inkopolis. The Salmonids have been proven to be definitely the bad guys, and to see these hundreds upon thousands of salmonids be fought every day can show that both Inklings and Octolings alike can be in pretty deep peril if they don’t thin out their numbers ASAP.

A sunken scroll explains goldies, and I’m convinced these are unborn goldies. Goldies are much more rare than 1 in 100. They’re one in TEN THOUSAND, I believe. The Goldie carries the eggs, to maybe birth some more. The reason they run away is to protect their newborns, as they don’t have much fighting capability. The reason grizz wants these eggs is for power.

Here is my theory:Power eggs like you said don’t have babies in it,or they do but they just hatch into normal salmonoids,called lesser salmonids.Golden eggs hatch into boss salmonoids,but this doesn’t make sense for flyfish as you can CLEARLY see a smalfry inside of the cockpit,so in that case it is used to power up the machine.Goldies and possibly maws(as in the English version it is female)can make those eggs.Other boss salmonoids can but that rests uncertain. To sun up,the red eggs are not fertilized,and can’t make salmononids,or maybe can but only lesser salmonids.Gold eggs come from goodies and possibly the other bosses.

I believe Salmonids are like bees: Each school of Salmonids contains one Goldie, and each hive of bees contains one queen. The Chums go out of the water to find food, which is their Golden Eggs, and bees leave the hive to collect pollen. Cohocks serve as mates for the Goldies, just like drones mate the queen bees.

The golden eggs couldn't be used for power, because the Grillers didn't drop 5 eggs until version 3.2.0, despite the Grillers costing hundreds of dollars to operate. Instead, they are a source of baby Salmonids.

ehhh they power tech via their luminous glow, but you can see a little baby fish inside, which WILL hatch into a goldie. Grizz wants them to keep extreme intelligence and power away from the salmonids. Yes I am implying it’s like multiplayer singleplayer campaign.

UH THIS IS KIND OF IMPORTANT. I was doing research for a school project, and realized that brown bears eat a lot of salmon. Meaning that he might just want the Inklings to get his food for him, considering the fact that goldies are inside of the eggs. Who knows, all that food might be not *just* be for Mr.Grizz. Here is my theory. I think that underwater where the salmonids come from, the goldies are having the golden eggs, and inside the golden eggs are baby salmonids. The goldies give the eggs to the mothership, that the golden eggs are stored in. The golden eggs are supposed to be transferred into the bosses as well, because most of them are made out of metal and safe for the baby salmonids. When the inklings defeat the bosses, the golden eggs fly out and the inklings put them in the basket, and when a wave ends, the egg basket is teleported to Mr. Grizz, which he takes out of the basket. What does Mr. Grizz do with them? I think he hatches them, grow them, and learn to cook so he can eat them for food. After the baby salmonids are out of the golden eggs, Mr. Grizz uses the golden eggshells to sell for money to give to the inklings for doing their job. But thats just a theory. A GAAAAAAAAAAME THEORY!

Yes, and what about, you know. Power eggs? Is the golden eggs are used to power the boss salmonid's machinery, then why do the lesser salmonids drop power eggs, while the lesser salmonids have no machinery? Unless they inject power eggs into the Salmonids to make them fight better... Wait.

As to your question at the end, does every Golden Egg hatch into a Goldie? No. In the Grizzco Training Manual, in addition to detailing the events and types of salmonids, it says something about the rarity of Goldies. It says that it is very rare for a salmonid to hatch as a Goldie. Now, I think that you are right in that Golden Eggs are fertilized salmonid eggs, and that they may even come from Goldies. But I think that a Golden Egg will hatch into a salmonid, and that salmonid has a chance of being a Goldie. Not every salmonid that hatches from a Golden Egg is a Goldie. Sorry if that was already said in the next video, I haven't watched it yet.

I have a feeling that the Grizzco weapons have golden egg power to amplify their firerate and power.

My theory is that because the Inklings continually harvest the golden eggs forcefully, eventually the Salmonids will retaliate against the Inklings, thus fulfilling the prophecy in Sunken Scroll 17.

Hmm powereggs maybe our payment for our salary based on our elimination of those salmon non boss type and boss too but but golden power eggs are rewarding mr. grizz itself the question is that is it use for power to power things, or is it food for mr grizz. (Which my guess is wrong) but to based on your theory it maybe use on power things up but what kind of things does mr grizz use for it? That leave me in questioned. And to the salmons its self when a boss was splatted by us players when leave unattended they automatically get the golden powereggs so what is it to them for the salmons in the golden powereggs. Is it to make more salmons by itself or they make more boss for us to beat but more spawn boss that’s the case. So the 3rd questioned in mind what is it for us players to work for mr grizzco. Is it for our special gear that released in every month but when you work for 3 rounds for it. And lastly the 4th questioned why when we like to play SR sometimes it’s open (yehey we can play) and sometimes it’s closed so here my questioned to the point that is closed what does mr grizz do to the golden ones? (Which makes us players curious about it)

Why would some Goldies even go into battle? They do seem to be very important due to their correlation with Golden eggs, so why would they risk giving up them?
